폐플라스틱의 열분해 시 열중량 분석 및 동역학 연구 (A Kinetic Studies of the Pyrolysis of Waste Plastic Based on the Thermogravimetic Analyses)

  • 폐플라스틱은 조성뿐만 아니라 다양한 플라스틱의 종류로 인하여 열분해 및 연소 속도가 달라진다. 본 연구는 폐플라스틱 고체 연료 (Refused Plastic Fuel)의 열분해 및 연소 시 설계요소 도출을 위한 열중량 분석 및 동역학 특성을 규명하였다. 열중량 분석기 (Thermogravimetric analysis)의 결과을 이용하여 동력학 특성 중 가장 일반적인 방법인 Kissinger 방법을 통하여 활성화 에너지를 구하였다. TGA의 실험 조건은 다음과 같이 설정하였다. 질소 가스유량 20 ml/min, 승온 속도 $5{\sim}50^{\circ}C/min$ 및 최대온도는 $800^{\circ}C$로 하였다. 본 연구의 폐플라스틱 열분해 특성 연구를 위하여 적용된 방법은 실제의 반응기에서 반응기의 성능, 설계 및 최적 운전조건을 결정할 때 기초자료로 사용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • This paper presents the dynamic behavior of stay cable with Lead-Shear damper( LSD) near the support. This kind of research about the dynamic behavior of LSD is essential to design LSD in order to mitigate the ambient vibration of stay cable. The hysteresis curve of LSD was assumed to be perfect elasto-plastic behavior based on the real hysteretic behavior of such lead-based dampers. Mechanical model of LSD was equivalent Kelvin model and sag effect of stay cable was considered. Yielding force (also referred as size) of LSD was selected as a design parameter. Effects of tension of stay cable and installation point of LSD were studied. It was found that optimal size of LSD exists for each case of stay cable.

EPDM재질 CLIP고무제품의 유동해석을 이용한 최적 설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design for CLIP Rubber Product Made of EPDM Using Flow Analysis)

  • Many rubber products are used in industrial products such as various hoses, rubber belts and oil seals etc. Especially, more then 200 rubber parts are used in the automobile, but design technology of these is largely dependent on Held experiences. These methods brought about too much time and cost in the developing procedures. However, with the help of recent rapid development of non-liner computer analysis, we can develop new sound products at low cost. Therefore in this study, optimizations of design variables such as location and number of gate in order to develop CLIP rubber product made of EPDM were performed by CAE in which Cross-WLF equations are adopted. The validity of proposed variables is evaluated by comparison with real forming results.

  • Forging of an inner pulley for compressor clutch assembly of car air conditioner is investigated in this study. In cold forging of inner pulley, the design requirements are to keep the same height of the inner rib and the outer one, and to make uniform the hardness distribution in the forged product. Using the rigid-plastic finite element simulation, we design the optimal process conditions, which has a performing operation. The forged pulley is investigated by checking the hardness distribution and it is noted that the distribution has improved to be even and high enough for industrial application.

  • In this study, a method to find the optimal intermediate die geometry for the multi-stage drawing process for the rectangular rod from a round bar is proposed and a program using the proposed method is developed. On the stage of the design of the intermediate die geometry, the virtual die was constructed using the initial billet as a inlet of the drawing die and the final product as a exit of that and the virtual die was divided by the number of pass. Divided die was transformed into the rectangular one which is the intermediate die geometry for the multi-stage rectangular drawing process. In order to verify the application of the proposed method on the real industrial product, the drawing of the rectangular rod from a round which composed two stage has been performed and simulated by the three dimensional rigid plastic finite element method.

Effect of stiffeners on failure analyses of optimally designed perforated steel beams

  • Perforated steel beams can be optimised by increased beam depth and the moment of inertia combined with a reduced web thickness, favouring the use of original I-section beams. The designers are often confronted with situations where optimisation cannot be carried out effectively, taking account of the buckling risk at web posts, moment-shear transfers and local plastic deformations on the transverse holes of the openings. The purpose of this study is to suggest solutions for reducing these failure risks of tested optimal designed beams under applying loads in a self-reacting frame. The design method for the beams is the hunting search optimisation technique, and the design constraints are implemented from BS 5950 provisions. Therefore, I have aimed to explore the strengthening effects of reinforced openings with ring stiffeners, welded vertical simple plates on the web posts and horizontal plates around the openings on the ultimate load carrying capacities of optimally designed perforated steel beams. Test results have shown that compared to lateral stiffeners, ring and vertical stiffeners significantly increase the loadcarrying capacity of perforated steel beams.

  • Bellows are suggested as energy absorbing elements for automotive steering systems. A metallic bellows has nearly constant axial collapse load which is desirable as an energy absorbing element for a steering column. Axial collapsability and bending flexibility of bellows can be utilized to reduce upward tilting and backward displacement of steering columns in the early stage of high speed crash. Since bending flexibility of bellows has negative effects on the vibration characteristics of steering columns it is necessary to maximize the first natural frequency of a bellows while maintaining its plastic bending flexibility and axial collapse load. An effort is made to attain optimum design of bellows based upon the Taguchi method. A general guideline for design of bellows is suggested.

성형하중 감소를 위한 냉간단조금형 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A study on the cold forging die geometry optimal design for forging load reduction)

  • 본 연구에서는 냉간단조공정에서 성형하중과 금형내 응력집중 감소를 위해 자동차 엔진 밸브 스프링 리테이너 제품의 형상최적화를 위한 금형형상 최적설계를 수행하였다. 기존 생산에 사용되는 각 성형공정별 냉간단조 금형에 대한 유한요소해석 시뮬레이션을 통해 절단공정을 포함해 총 6공정으로 구성되어 있는 냉간단조공정 별 단조 프리폼의 성형 시에 발생하는 성형하중과 성형유동 특성을 분석하였으며, 이를 통해 금형 내 응력집중이 발생하는 주요 설계인자를 확인하였다. 상형금형과 하형금형부의 챔퍼(chamfer) 및 에지필렛(edge fillet) 형상을 대상으로 4인자 3수준 설계인자 및 변수 수준을 설정하고, 성형해석 시뮬레이션과 다구찌법을 활용하여 설계인자별 영향도를 분석하여 최적의 최적설계인자를 결정하였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 최적설계변수를 적용하여 엔진밸브 스프링 리테이너의 최적설계 시뮬레이션 결과, 각 프리폼 성형공정별로 최대 36 %, 전체 공정 평균 20 %의 성형하중 감소 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 엔진의 고효율, 고출력, 고성능화 목표가 지속적으로 높아짐에 따라 고강도 소재의 활용이 많아지게 되어 이에 대응할 수 있는 성형공정 및 금형설계의 최적화가 필요하며, 향후 연구 결과를 활용하여 현업에 적용하여 제품단조성형성 개선 및 금형수명관리를 위한 기술자료로 활용하고자 한다.

Hair Diameter Variation in Different Vertical Regions of the Occipital Safe Donor Area

  • Background Little is known concerning hair diameter variation within the safe donor area for hair transplantation surgery. Thicker or thinner hair may be needed, depending on the recipient area, hairline design, and the purpose of surgery. Methods Twenty-seven patients (7 men and 20 women; mean age, 28 years; range, 20-47 years) were included in this study. The midoccipital point was used as the reference point on the horizontal plane at the upper border of the helical rim. The target area width was 15 cm (7.5 cm to the right and left of the reference point) and the height was 8 cm (2 cm above and 6 cm below the reference point). The study area was divided horizontally into 3 5-cm sections (A, B, C) and vertically into 4 2-cm sections (1-4), creating a total of 12 zones. Ten anagen hairs were randomly obtained from each zone and their diameters were measured. Results Hair diameter in the 4 vertical sections varied significantly, gradually decreasing from sections 1 (superior) to 4 (inferior) in all 3 horizontal sections (A, B, and C). Conclusions Our results suggest that sections 1 and 2 of the occipital safe donor area would be useful for obtaining thicker hair, such as in procedures to treat male- and female-pattern hair loss, whereas hair from zones 3 and 4 could be useful for transplantation surgery requiring thinner hair, such as eyebrows, eyelashes, and female hairline correction. Our results may be clinically valuable for planning hair transplant surgery and choosing the optimal donor region.

Exclusive tongue tip reconstruction of hemiglossectomy defects using the underrated lateral arm free flap with bilobed design

  • Background: Tongue reconstruction is challenging with the unique function and anatomy. Goals for reconstruction differ depending on the extent of reconstruction. Thin and pliable flaps are useful for tongue tip reconstruction, for appearance and mobility. This study reports lateral arm free flap (LAFF) as a safe and optimal option for hemi-tongue reconstruction, especially for tongue tip after hemiglossectomy. Methods: Thirteen LAFFs were performed for hemi-tongue reconstruction after hemiglossectomy from 1995 to 2018. Of the 13 patients, seven were male and six were female, age varying from 24 to 64 years. Results: All flaps healed uneventfully without complications. Donor sites were closed primarily. The recipient vessels for microvascular anastomosis were mainly superior thyroidal artery, external jugular vein. All patients returned to normal diet, with no complaints regarding reconstructed tongue and donor site. Conclusion: The LAFF is hairless, thin (especially with lateral epicondyle approach), and potentially sensate. They are advantageous features for tongue tip and hemi-tongue reconstruction. Donor site sacrifices the inessential posterior radial collateral artery, and the scar is hidden under short sleeve shirts. We believe that LAFF can be considered as the first choice flap for hemitongue reconstruction, over radial forearm free flaps.
