  • This paper proposes an optical system for complex holographic display that enhances the quality of the reconstructed three-dimensional image. This work focuses on a new design for an optical system and the evaluation of the complex holographic display, using a single spatial light modulator (SLM) and a circular grating. The optical system is based on a 4-f system in which the imaginary and real information of the hologram is displayed on concentric rectangular areas of the SLM and circular grating. Thus, this method overcomes the lack of accuracy in the pixel positions between two window holograms in previous studies, and achieves a higher intensity of the real object points of the reconstructed hologram than the original phase-reconstructed hologram. The proposed method provides approximately 30% less NMRS (Normal Root Mean Square) error, compared to previous systems, which is verified by both simulation and optical experiment.

  • Optical disk system aiming at fast data transfer rate and high-density recording requires the improvement in performance of the pickup head. Especially, the pickup actuator needs better linearity and stability. So, a lever actuator for optical disk is proposed. In this paper, the role of lever and its structure are discussed and the flexure hinge is introduced to enhance the precise movement. Using the Newoton's method, the motion of equation for the lever actuator is obtained. The results are compared with the analysis results by the FEM (Finite Element Method) for the vibration and the magnetic field. Consequently, the lever actuator has the 2"d system characteristics in 3-axis moving directions and superior stability for the external vibration.tion.

  • This paper proposed a dual actuator using bimorph PZT for information storage device based on prove array NSOM(Near-field Scanning Optical Microscopy). The gap between the media and the optical head should be maintained within the optical tolerance. Therefore, a new actuator having high sensitivity is required. Bimorph PZT, which has fast access time and high sensitivity characteristic, is suitable for this precise actuating system. This paper is focused on derivation of mathematical model of dual bimorph PZT actuator and control algorithm. Hamilton's principle was used for mathematical model. The model is verified by FEA(Finite Element Analysis), and compared with experimental results. Different control algorithms were used f3r two bimorph PZT actuating same direction and opposite direction. The gap between recording media and optical head was controlled within 20nm in experiment.

  • A Spatial light modulator (SLM) is a real-time programmable device having the modulation function of the amplitude, phase or polarization of an optical wavefront as a function of position via electrical or optical control signals. Various types of reusable SLMs with two-dimensional pixel arrays are centrally important devices in volumetric recording, data processing, pattern recognition, optical computer and other optical system. • Track geometry changes by traffic loads. The bigger the changes are, the worse the riding comfort and running stability of train. This is so-called track irregularity and is the most important quality parameters of ballasted track. To objectively assess track irregularity, track geometry should be able to be measured. Practically, railway companies use moving chord method, which determine versine values via a chord. The versine is the vertical distance to curve measured in the middle of the chord. This type of method measures only versine of track irregularity curve by transfer function from the characteristics of measuring device. In this report, review the characteristics of two types of measuring tools by comparing the measurements. The one is GRP-1000 system, optical surveying system with Total station and lazar prism trolley. This calculates track geometry by surveying absolute coordinates of two points each on both rail heads. The other is EM-120, measures versine with 10m of symmetrical chord length.

  • Identification method is formulated to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of air bearings under NFR (Near Field Recording) sliders. Using dynamic analysis, impulse responses and frequency response functions of NFR sliders are obtained on numerical non-linear models including rigid motion of slider and fluid motion of air bearing under the slider. System parameters are identified by modal analysis method and instrumental variable method. The identified system parameters of sliders are utilized to evaluate the dynamic characteristics of air bearings.

  • To increase the storage density in hologram recording, a simple scheme to obtain rotational, angular and spatial multiplexing efficiently at the same time is proposed and experimented. Both rotational multiplexing and angular multiplexing are obtained by controlling the reference beam directly by use of a pair of wedge prisms, while spatial multiplexing is obtained by shifting the recording medium in the recording plane. It is possible to get both an acute-angle geometry, in which the angle between the signal and reference beams is less than 90$^{\circ}$, and a 90$^{\circ}$ geometry, in which the angle is approximately 90$^{\circ}$. In experiment, 180 holograms were multiplexed with an acute-angle geometry where a photopolymer was used for the recording medium, and 147 holograms with 90$^{\circ}$ geometry where a Fe-doped LiNbO$_3$ crystal was used. The proposed scheme makes it easy it easy to realize a practical holographic memory system by simplifying the control of three complex mechanical motions that are necessary for the three multiplexing techniques.

  • multi-beam optical drive is a method to improve the data transfer rate for the optical disc systems by parallel recording and reading on neighboring multi-tracks. In this paper, the beam rotating actuator, which is necessary for the multi-bean optical disc drive to from beam spots on multi-tracks simultaneously, has been developed. The Voice Coil Motor is used as a drive mechanism for high resolution and small size of the actuator. And rotating guide based on link structure is designed for frictionless and axisless rotation of rotating part including dove prism and for rotating in axis of geometric center of dove prism. The characteristics of the actuator are experimented by laser vibrometer, Polytec OFV1102 and a dynamic analyzer, HP35670A. It shows that the actuator has good linearity, rotating range $\pm0.34^\circ$, minimum rotating angle $0.0066^\circ$and natural frequency 113.9Hz. Therefore the actuator can be applied in a multi-beam optical disc system.

  • In this paper, for the curvature correction on the scanning plane in laser scanning system, aberration correction method using holographic optical element is suggested. Holoens is selected as a type of holographic zone plate which has aberration correction property. And hologram recording condition is analyzed to find fo property. This hololens is implemented by computer-generated hologram technique. Laser scanning system is organized using desinged hololens and scanning properties of this system are investigated. Using this method optical system structure in laser scanning system can be simplified satisfying both scan linearity and field flatness.

  • One of the problems facing in all modern dental hospitals is the much efforts, manpower and space are needed to effectively sort and stack patients' charts of the various dental departments. In addition, the storage and prompt arrangement of x-ray films is also a problem. Therefore, if dental charts as well as films could be computerized, it would be easier to store and keep them; by data basing, many space, manpower and cost would be saved: data could also be effectively managed for the purpose of academic researches. This would be an epoch -making event in the development of dental hospital management. The purpose of this study is to develop a dental information processing program, that will be used to store dental treatment records and digital image data using a new record media, the optical card. The patients' charts from the dental hospital were selected. The treatment records of the chart were put into the treatment data -recording area of the program, and the digital images of various dental x-ray films were made with a scanner. These data were stored in the optical card and analyzed to get the following results: 1. In this program it is possible to put treatment records and image data into and out from the optical card, and it is impossible to correct and delete all data recorded on the optical card. 2. All data in the optical card system can be searched and analyzed on database. 3. The resolution of image data stored in optical card is above 5.9 lp/mm. 4, All data of dental charts used as samples, stored to optical cards, occupies average 14%, In conclusion, with the development of the storage system using the optical card, a dental patient's life-time treatment record can be stored in one optical card and used as a substitute for the dental chart.
