Development of Sealing Technology for Far-Infrared Multispectral ZnS Using Chalcogenide Glass Material

  • Various types of optical materials and devices used in special environments must satisfy durability and optical properties. In order to improve the durability of zinc sulfide multispectral (MS ZnS) substrates with transmission wavelengths from visible to infrared, Ge-Sb-Se-based chalcogenide glass was used as a sealing material to bond the MS ZnS substrates. Wetting tests of the Ge-Sb-Se-based chalcogenide glass were conducted to analyze flowability as a function of temperature, by considering the glass transition temperature (Tg) and softening temperature (Ts). In the wetting test, the viscous flow of the chalcogenide glass sample was analyzed according to the temperature. After placing the chalcogenide glass disk between MS ZnS substrates (20 × 30 mm), the sealing test was performed at a temperature of 485 ℃ for 60 min. Notably, it was found that the Ge-Sb-Se-based chalcogenide glass sealed the MS ZnS substrates well. After the MS ZnS substrates were sealed with chalcogenide glass, they showed a transmission of 55 % over 3~12 ㎛. The tensile strength of the sealed MS ZnS substrates with Ge-Sb-Se-based chalcogenide glass was analyzed by applying a maximum load of about 240 N, confirming its suitability as a sealing material in the far infrared range.

적외선 카메라-레이저 공통광학계의 레이저빔 열 영향성 분석 (Analysis of Laser-beam Thermal Effects In an Infrared Camera and Laser Common-path Optical System)

  • 지향성적외선방해장비의 정렬 정밀도를 높히고 중량을 감소시키기 위해 적용된 적외선 카메라-레이저 공통광학계 구조에서 영상 성능 저하를 야기시키는 레이저빔 열 영향성을 분석하였다. 높은 에너지 밀도를 가지는 레이저빔이 광부품에 흡수되면 열이 발생하고 온도가 상승한다. 공통광학계 광부품 표면에서 발생한 열은 시스템 투과율을 감소시켜 적외선 카메라의 영상 품질을 저하시킬 수 있다. 지향성적외선방해장비의 운용개념을 고려하여 파장 $4{\mu}m$, 출력 3 W의 레이저빔이 10초간 미러(알루미늄, 실리카 글래스, 실리콘) 및 렌즈(사파이어, 셀레늄화아연, 실리콘, 게르마늄) 재료에 조사되는 상황을 가정하여 온도 분포를 계산하였다. 계산 결과, 미러 재료로는 실리카 글래스, 렌즈 재료로는 사파이어의 온도 상승이 상대적으로 컸고, 재료 온도 분포에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 요소는 재료의 레이저빔 흡수율과 열전도도임을 확인하였다. 결론적으로 적외선 카메라-레이저 공통광학계에 사용하는 광부품은 흡수율이 낮고 열전도도가 높은 특성을 갖도록 선정되어야 광부품 온도 상승에 의한 적외선 카메라의 영상 품질 저하를 방지할 수 있다.

  • As low-cost optical waveguides of optical interconnects, we fabricate multimode optical waveguides using a molding process The core size of a optical waveguide is 47 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ $\times$ 41 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. We use the photoresist AZ9260 as a master, polydimethyl-siloxane (PDMS) as a mold. In transferring process to polymeric material, we employ a modified micro-transfer molding process. All processes are simple and low-cost.

유기 발광소자의 효율 향상을 위한 광학박막 및 마이크로렌즈 설계 (Optical Thin Film and Micro Lens Design for Efficiency Improvement of Organic Light Emitting Diode)

  • We have proposed an optical thin film and micro lens to improve the luminance of organic light emitting device. The first method, optical thin film was calculated refractive index of dielectric layer material that was modulated refractive index of organic material, ITO (indium tin oxide)and glass. The second method, microlens was applied with lenses on the organic device. Optical thin films were designed with Macleod Simulator and Micro Lenses were calculated by FDTD (finite-difference time-domain) solution. The structure of thin film was designed in organic material/ITO/dielectric layer/glass. The lenses size, height and distance were 5 ${\mu}m$, 1 ${\mu}m$, 1 ${\mu}m$, respectively. The material of micro lenses used silicon dioxide. Result, The highest luminance of OLED which applied with microlens was 11,185 $cd/m^2$, when approval voltage was 14.5 V, applied thin film was 5,857 $cd/m^2$. The device efficiency applying microlens increased 3 times than the device which does not apply microlens.

  • Light emitting diode(LED) has many advantages including lower energy consumption and longer lifetime and eco-friendly in comparison with traditional light sources. Spheric plastic lens generally used in LED lighting occurs aberration and ghost image which give displeasure and deteriorate vision quality in human eyes. Using the optical program (LightTools$^{TM}$, CodeV$^{TM}$), we were confirm the aberration and ghost image in optical simulation and employed aspheric lens form in the lens design to improve these problems. From the comparison of the simulation results between the aspheric lens and the spheric lens, we were ascertain to be improved both aberration and Ghost image.

  • We will illustrate the topographical structure and optical structure of the merocyanine dye LB films obtained by the scanning near-field optical/atomic force microscopy (SNOAM). SNOAM was recognized as a powerful tool to modify the surface as well as to characterize the topography of the surface at atomic resolution, especially for optical reaction materials. SNOAM images showed that the topographical and optical structures of these films were not only depended on the chemical property but also physical property. In the continuous measurement on these dyes, the appearance of near-field optical transmission images showed a certain dependence on the kinds of dyes and the mutual mixing ratios of dyes. These experimental results suggest that there is a certain kind of interaction between these two dyes.
