For a company operating lots of vehicle, such as taxi companies or delivery company, a system telling the position of each vehicle is essential. Conventional methods are based on personal communication between a operator in head-office and driver at the car. Since driver cannot respond to the communication while he drives or when lie is out of car. the communication often fails. So, a system identifying and reporting the vehicle position offers groat help to those kind of company.
This paper is concerned with the vehicle platooning in the AHS (Automated Highway Systems). For this, a relative navigation system is developed for the vehicles operating as a platoon. The relative navigation system is based on two sensors including GPS and MMWR (Millimeter-Wave Radar) and the federated Kalman Iter processing measurements of them. The architecture of this system requires GPS measurements of a preceding vehicle via communication link. Even if GPS measurements are available, they contain errors which are unacceptably high in vehicle platooning. Therefore, GPS carrier phase is considered. Integer ambiguities of GPS carrier phase measurements are determined by using MMWR ...
The vehicle oriented block box system based on the u-healthcare and the human-free guard functions is developed in this paper. We also suggested the design philosophies, ideas, and analyzed the performance of the suggested system. The developed vehicle oriented black box system has some characteristics such as; 1) detects the dangerous situation by ultrasonic sensor in advance, and stores the situation information of the neighborhood of the vehicle to the imbedded SD memory card if the dangerous situation may be occurred in the parked vehicle; 2) detects the present location and speed information of the vehicle by GPS receiver and 3-axes acceleration sensor, and stores the information to the SD memory card periodically if the vehicle is running; 3) measures the dioxide carbon in the vehicle inside using $CO_2$ sensor, and forces the ventilation motor of the vehicle to operate and maintains the driver's health if the measured level is more than standard health requirements; 4) provides the stored vehicle's operating information to the driver by GUI (Graphical User Interface) based touch LCD monitor.
In this work, we analyze the relationship between the accumulated mileage of hybrid electric vehicle(HEV) and the data provided from vehicle parts. Data were collected while traveling over 70,000 Km in various paths. The data collected in seconds are aggregated for 10 minutes and characterized in terms of centrality, variability, normality, and so on. We examined whether the statistical properties of vehicle parts are different for each cumulative mileage interval of a hybrid car. When the cumulative mileage interval is categorized into =< 30,000, <= 50,000, and >50,000, the statistical properties are classified by the mileage interval as 82.3% accuracy. This indicates that if the data of the vehicle parts is collected by operating the hybrid vehicle for 10 minutes, the cumulative mileage interval of the vehicle can be estimated. This makes it possible to detect the abnormality of the vehicle part relative to the accumulated mileage. It can be used to detect abnormal aging of vehicle parts and to inform maintenance necessity.
In the present study, the influence of operating conditions on fuel economy for hybrid electric vehicle was analyzed. In order to accomplish this, vehicle speed, engine speed, battery current and voltage, SOC (state of charge),motor speed and torque, generator speed and torque, engine coolant temperature etc. were measured in real time. The tests were carried out under different driving cycles which are urban and highway cycles, KOREA CITY cycle and on-road driving, and also under various operating conditions such as different initial SOC, with or without regenerative braking etc.. Generally, conventional gasoline engines show a poor fuel economy at stop and go driving, because braking energy is wasted and the engine is operated in low thermal efficiency regions. However, in case of hybrid vehicles, higher fuel economy can be obtained because of utilizing the maximum thermal efficiency regions of engine, idling stop of engine, and regenerative braking etc..
A control algorithm is developed for highly efficient operation of auxiliary power unit (APU) that consists of a diesel engine and a directly coupled induction generator in series hybrid electric Bus (SHEB). In a series hybrid configuration the APU supplies the electric power needed for maintaining the state of charge (SOC) of the battery unit in various conditions of vehicle operation. As the rotational speed of generator does not depend on the vehicle speed, an optimized operation of engine-generator unit based on the efficiency map of each component can be achieved. The output torque of diesel engine can be controlled by the amount of fuel injection, and the power converted from mechanical to electrical energy can be adjusted by generate control unit (GCU) using the decoupling vector control of torque and flux. As for the given reference of the generating power, the multiply of speed and torque, many combinations of operating speed and torque are possible. The algorithm decides the new operating point based on the engine efficiency map and generator characteristic curve. During the transition of operating points, the speed controller saturation is avoided using variable limit and filtering of generator torque reference. A test rig and SHEB consist of a 1.5L diesel engine and a 30kw induction generator are constructed by Hyundai Motor Company.
In this study, we focused on developing and verifying ship collision avoidance algorithms using Unity simulator and ROS(Robot Operating System). ROS is used to establish an environment where communication between different operating systems is possible, and a dynamic model of a ship is constructed within Unity simulator. The Lidar data collected in Unity environment is passed to the system based on python through ROS. In the system based on python, control command values were created through the logic of the collision avoidance algorithm using data, and the values were transferred back to Unity to control the movement of the virtual ship. Through the developed simulation system, the reliability of the collision avoidance algorithm of ships with two different forms in an environment similar to the actual physical world was confirmed. As a result, it was confirmed on the simulator that it could be avoided without collision even in an environment with various types of obstacles, and that the avoidance characteristics according to the dynamics of the ship could be analyzed.
This paper describes the development of a test-bed vehicle named TAUV which can be a tool to evaluate the performance of a new control algorithm, operating software and the characteristics of sensors for an AUV. The test-bed AUV is designed to operate at depth of ten meters. It is 19.5kg in air and neural buoyancy in water and the dimension is $535{\times}400{\times}102mm$. TAUV is equipped with a magnetic compass, a biazial inclinometer, a rate gyro, a pressure sensor and an altitude sonae for measuring the motion of the vehicle. Two horizoltal thursters and two elevators are installed in order to propel and control the AUV. This paper persents the control system of TAUV which is based on a 16 bit single-chip microprocessor, 80c196kc, and the software architecture for the operating system. Experimental results are included to verify the performance of the TAUV.
Since axial flux motor has an advantage over more conventional radial flux type motor such as high power density, it can be used as a power train for hybrid electric vehicle and electric vehicle. Also operating range can be extended and efficiency can be improved by changing air gap. Optimal operating air gap is estimated based on the measured efficiency at different air gap. Motor model is developed based on estimated optimal air gap and efficiency. Motor/controller performance is analyzed through simulation. Possible application area of axial flux motor was explored through simulation.
In this paper, we present reliability modeling and analysis method of the Automated Guideway Transit(AGT) vehicle system using analytical models, based on Markov Chains. The Markov model can express state transition of the AGT vehicle sys. that is considered to be in one of four states, such as basic operating (0), minor delay(1), major delay(2) and non-operating(3) state. The proposed Markov model is illustrated with a numerical example and cases to find a steady state availability, MTBF(mean time between failures), and MTTR(mean time to repair) under specified failure and repair rate arc demonstrated.
