A transparent, freestanding Porous Aromatic Framework-97 (PAF-97) membrane was successfully synthesized via a one-step acid-catalyzed reaction. Due to the introduction of ether groups, the obtained PAF-97 membrane possesses enhanced structural flexibility, thus increasing the flexibility of the resulting membrane. This is proofed by the fact that the feeding pressure of the membrane reaches as high as 5.5 bar during the separation of gas mixtures. The Young's moduli of the membrane were 6.615 GPa and 11.11 GPa, either in a dry or hydrated state respectively. To be highlighted, under a feeding pressure of 3.6 bar, the PAF-97 membrane rendered the permeance values of $2.90{\times}10^{-7}$, $1.29{\times}10^{-8}mol\;m^{-2}s^{-1}Pa^{-1}$ for $CO_2$ and $CH_4$, respectively, with a $CO_2/CH_4$ permselectivity of 22.48.

Introduction : Polyimides are one of the most important classes of the high performance polymers due to their excellent electrical, thermal, and high-temperature mechanical properties. But their uses are limited because of their poor solubility. Most polyimide derivatives are processed in the form of polyamic acids, which are subsequently converted into the imide structures.Recently, it has been found that the soluble polyimides with large molecular weight sufficient to application. For enhancing processability, the majority of approaches have involved the following factors. As much as, the separation of the imide ring along the back-bone, that is to say, reducing the density of imide ring in the repeat structure. The introduction of bulky substituents along the back-bone, in order to enhance the free volume of main-chain. The incorporation of flexible or thermally stable linkages in the main-chain, reducing the packing force. The disruption of symmetry or recurrence regularity through copolymerization in order to reduce crystallnity. The objectives of this investigation are the synthesis and characterization of soluble polyimides as membrane materials by the single-step polymerization and the preparation of the asymmetric polyimide membrane by using phase inversion technique. In the present study, three series of polyimide derivatives are synthesized; H series is homopolyimides, A series is prepared from single dianhydride and two diamines, B series is yielded from two dianhydrides and a diamine. The dope solution was directly prepared from the PI solution via one step polymerization from monomers.

Tuning of electro-optical properties of nano-structured $SnO_2:Ga$ powders in a micro drop fluidized reactor (MDFR) was highly effective to enhance the activities of powders to be used as sensor materials. The tuning was conducted continuously in a facile one-step process during the formation of powders. The microscopic hydrodynamic forces affected the band gap structure and charge transfer of $SnO_2:Ga$ powders through the oxygen and interfacial tin vacancies by providing plausible pyro-hydraulic conditions, which resulted in the decrease in the electrical resistance of the materials. The analyses of room-temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectra and FT-IR exhibited that the tuning could improve the surface activities of $SnO_2:Ga$ powders by adjusting the excitation as well as separation of electrons and holes, thus maximizing the oxygen vacancies at the surface of the powders. The scheme of photocatalytic mechanism of $SnO_2:Ga$ powders was also discussed.

We have investigated the deposition characteristics of (Ni0.8Fe0.2)20Ag80 thin films as a function of chamber pressure and nitrogen flow rate with scanning electron microscopy(SEM), atomic force microscopy(AFM), XRD and $\alpha$-step. The deposition rate of these film is decreased with increasing the chamber pressure and the nitrogen flow rate. With raising the chamber pressure, the growth mode of thin film is changed from island growth to columnar one, which is probably due to energy of atom. Contrary, the nitrogen flow rate is raised, growth mode is changed from columnar to island one. According to the XRD patterns, the preferred orientation is inhibited as the nitrogen flow rate is kept above 10 sccm, but that is nearly independent on the chamber pressure. When the chamber pressure decrease or the nitrogen flow rate increase, phase separation into permoally and silver is occured.

LE-7A is the main engine of the H-IIA launch vehicle. Under its development, the nozzle suffered from two troubles during startup and shutdown transients of the engine. One is a large side load, which damages the actuator of the nozzle, and the other is damage on regenerative cooling tubes due to high heat load. It has been considered that these problems are caused by a peculiar separation pattern called Restricted Shock Separation (RSS). RSS is observed in several rocket nozzles, for example, LE-7A nozzle, Vulcain nozzle and so on. Their contours are not conventional truncated perfect (TP) nozzle - LE-7A nozzle is a compressed truncated perfect (CTP) nozzle and Vulcain nozzle is a thrust optimized (TO) nozzle. Although it is believed that the occurrence of RSS is affected by the nozzle contour, the mechanisms are not clarified sufficiently yet. In the present paper, a parametric numerical study is carried out to investigate the mechanisms of the occurrence of RSS in CTP nozzles during startup transient. The results show that RSS is caused by the adverse pressure gradient downstream of the Mach disk. The adverse pressure gradient is caused by the interaction of the pressure wave and Mach disk. The method to avoid the occurrence of RSS is also examined. A small step inside the nozzle affects the position of the separation point and prevents RSS. The result shows that the possibility that RSS can be suppressed by controlling the position of the separation point.

A consideration on the trubulence models for describing the redeveloping turbulent boundary layer beyond separation-reattachment in the flow over a backward-facing step is given through experimental and numerical studies. By considering the blance among the measured values of respective terms in the transport equations for the turbulent kinetic energy and the turbulent shear stress, the recovering process of the redeveloping boundary layer from non-equilibrium to equilibrium has been investigated, which takes place slowly over a substantial distance in the downstream direction. In the numerical study, the standard K-.epsilon. model and the Reynolds stress model have been applied to two kinds of flow regions, one for the entire downstream region after the backward-facing step and another for the downstream region after reattachment. Then the results are compared to a meaningful extent, with the experimental values of the turbulent kinetic energy k, the turbulent energy production term P, the dissipation term K-.epsilon. model, a necessity for a new modelling has been brought forward, which can be also applied to the case of the nonequlibrium turbulent flow.
The feasibility of municipal sewage sludge digestion was investigated by using thermophilic anaerobic sequencing batch reactor(ASBR). One-day settle time was enough for the high performance of solid-liquid separation. The conversion of semi-continuous mode to sequencing batch mode is easily achieved without any adverse effects, although the large amount of sludge equal to the volume ratio of 0.3~06 to reactor volume was added in the feed step of the start-up. The ASBRs had higher conversion capability of organics to biogas than the control reactor. Gas yields of the ASBRs were increased by the average of 50% over the control reactor across a range of hydraulic retention time(HRT)s from 10days to 5days. The thermophilic reactors showed higher gas production than mesophilic reactor. Removal efficiencies of organic matter exceeded 80% on the basis of supernatants, except that at the reactor. Solid-liquid separation was essential in the performance of the ASBR, especially, at the lower HFT. The ASBRs were highly efficient in the retention of activated biomass within the reactor. thus compensating for increased equivalent organic loading rate through increased solids retention times followed by the increased solids, while maintaining shorter HRTs.
We propose a two-step UV irradiation procedure to fabricate polymer-dispersed liquid crystal (PDLC) films by lamination. During the first UV treatment, before lamination, the UV-curable monomers coated on one film substrate are solidified through photo-polymerization as the phase separation between the liquid crystals and the monomers. Introducing an adhesion-enhancement layer on the other plastic substrate and controlling the UV irradiation conditions ensure that UV-induced cross-linkable functional groups remain on the surfaces of the photo-polymerized layers. Thereby, the adhesion stability between the top and bottom films is much improved during a second (post-lamination) UV treatment by further UV-induced cross-linking at the interface. Because the adhesion-enhancement and PDLC layers prepared by the bar-coating process are solidified before lamination, the PDLC droplet distribution and the cell gap between the two plastic substrates remain uniform under the lamination pressure. This ensures that the voltage-controlled light transmittance is uniform across the entire sample.

This study was conducted to determine the embryonic stages for the isolation of the highest number of PGCs and to improve PGCs enrichment method. The primordial germ cells(PGCs) from different sources of chick embryos were isolated. The embryonic stage having the highest number of PGCs from each sources was selected ; 1-day-old embryos for germinal crescent (stage 6-8), 2.5-day-old embryos for blood (stage 17-18) and 5.5-day-old embryos for gonad (stage 27-28). The number of PGCs from one embryonic germinal crescent, blood and gonad was about 87$\pm$1.8, 103$\pm$4.0, and 932$\pm$10.9, respectively. The viability of PGCs after Ficoll from each sources was similar, showing approximately 70%. the PGCs enrichment method was improved using Ficoll density gradient centrifugation. After this step the purity of PGCs from germinal crescent, blood, and gonad was 45$\pm$9.10%, 85$\pm$1.18%, and 86$\pm$0.19%, respectively. Also, PGCs were picked up by mouth pipette to improve the purity. This improved method for the separation of PGCs from different sources will serve as a useful too to preserve the foundation stocks of poultry and to produce germline chimeras.
The solvent separation step in the conventional method for quantitative analysis of ginsenosides was substituted by purification through a small reverse-phase $C_18$-column resulting in the decrease of analysis time by one fourth. New method showed high recovery of total ginsenosides but low recovery in protopanaxatriol-ginsenosides. Sugars did not affect the recovery by the amount in usual root sample. Coefficient of variation in recovery of ginsenosides was lower in the rapid minicolumn method. Optimum load of ginsenosides to minicolumn was 10 to 15 mg. The rapid minicolumn method showed highly significant correlation with the solvent separation method for dried root and red ginseng. For the rapid minicolumn method a small acryl device was used for the simultaneous extraction of 8 samples. This method appeared to be beneficial in cost and for the health of analyst.
