  • The recent, a large capacity of communication is required in order to it is in proportion to capacity of information communication increase and to satisfy a demand because of the demand about Internet, a multimedia service of Video of internet protocol(VoIP), Audio/Video steaming. DWDM(Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing) technique has been emerged as the method of solving it without additional optical fiber network building and hish-speed equipment. Therefore this thesis proposed the optical filter of fiber/multilayer slab coupled structure combining it to multilayer slab waveguide by polishing the cladding of one side of fiber to design the optical filter having these functions. The optical filter proposed as the simulation result satisfies DWDM filter characteristic; 1) when the separation distance between fiber and slab is $4.15{\mu}m$ at the communication window of $1.5{\mu}m$, the polarization independence is 65nm, 2) when the center wavelengths about TM mode and TE mode are each ${\lambda}_0=1.54946\;{\mu}m$ and ${\lambda}_0=1.6144\;{\mu}m$ and, FWHM(Full at Half Maximun) is 0.1nm.

  • Polymers are emerging as new alternative materials for optical communication devices. We developed two types of polymer-based devices for optical communications. One type is for ultra high-speed signal processing that uses nonlinear optical (NLO) polymers in such devices as electro-optic (EO) Mach-Z${\ddot{e}} $ hnder (MZ) modulators and EO 2${\times}$2 switches. The other is for WDM optical communications that use low-loss optical polymers in such devices as 1${\times}$2, 2${\times}$2, 4-arrayed 2${\times}$2 digital optical switches (DOSs) and 16${\times}$16 arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) routers. For these devices, we synthesized a polyetherimide-disperse red 1 (PEI-DR1) side chain NLO polymer and a low-loss optical polymer known as fluorinated polyaryleneethers (FPAE). This paper presents the details of our development of these polymeric photonic devices considering all aspects from materials to packaging.

  • In hot strip mills, Portable Roll Scanner (the portable roll surface temperature and profile measuring device) can be used to calibrate on-line Process models for strip crown and flatness by measuring the thermal expansion and wear profile of the rolls. And the surface temperature measurement can be used to optimize the roll cooling system. Portable Roll Scanner consists of the measuring device, which has two contact inductive distance transducers for roll profile measurement and one infrared Pyrometer for surface temperature measurement, and computer-based controller that is equipped with the measuring device. By the wireless data communication, the data is transferred to the memory of notebook for further analysis. After roll extraction from mills, Portable Roll Scanner measure the roll profile and surface temperature simultaneously along the work roll face and display the results in the TFT color monitor of notebook. Portable Roll Scanner is useful at mill-side and roll grinding shop.

  • Spinal extradural arachnoid cysts usually cause symptoms related to spinal cord or nerve root compression. Here, we report an atypical presentation of a spinal extradural arachnoid cyst combined with congenital hemivertebra which was presented as a retroperitoneal mass that exerted mass effects to the abdominal organs. On image studies, the communication between the cystic pedicle and the spinal arachnoid space was indistinct. Based on our experience and the literature of the pathogenesis, we planned anterior approach for removal of the arachnoid cyst in order to focus on mass removal rather than ligation of the fistulous channel. In our estimation this was feasible considering radiologic findings and also essential for the symptom relief. The cyst was totally removed with the clogged 'thecal sac-side' end of the cystic pedicle. The patient was free of abdominal discomfort by one month after the surgery.

  • This paper has presented the dependence of the threshold voltage on back gate bias and drain voltage for FinFET. The FinFET has three gates such as the front gate, side and back gate. Threshold voltage is defined as the front gate bias when drain current is 1 micro ampere as the onset of the turn-on condition. In this paper threshold voltage is investigated into the analytical potential model derived from three dimensional Poisson's equation with the variation of the back gate bias and drain voltage. The threshold voltage of a transistor is one of the key parameters in the design of CMOS circuits. The threshold voltage, which described the degree of short channel effects, has been extensively investigated. As known from the down scaling rules, the threshold voltage has been presented in the case that drain voltage is the 1.0V above, which is set as the maximum supply voltage, and the drain induced barrier lowing(DIBL), drain bias dependent threshold voltage, is obtained using this model.

  • During last years, large investments have been directed to development and research of nano-technological products like semiconductor, display panel, optic-fiber communication components, life technology, and ultra-precision components. All quantitative measurements at nanometre scale should guarantees accurate results and high quality. Laser interferometer is one of most famous nanometre scale devices to be able to measure metre-scale distance with nanometre scale resolution, but it is easily affected by various error causes like geometrical, instrumental and environmental factor. On the other side, capacitive sensor is robust to above error factors, but it is able to measure relatively shorter distance, under $100{\mu}m$, than laser interferometer. New error correction method for laser interferometry using capacitive sensor will be introduced in this paper.

  • This paper proposes to include engine information in Maritime Service Portfolio (MSP) for effective implementation of e-Navigation. Even though engine information is one of most important element to e-Navigation, MSP consists of mainly about navigation and communication information not included engine information. Furthermore, in reality, engine information sent from ship side such as mainly noon report and Planned Maintenance System (PMS) is too limited to make e-Navigation possibly. Therefore, Remote diagnostic structure receiving and sending data of engine information must be included in MSP for implementation of e-Navigation. Also, it has to be designed, and developed by Software Quality Assurance (SQA).

  • In this papre, we describe a recently implemented echo canceller for digital cellular communication of Code Division Multiple Access(CDMA) that features time sharing of digital signal processor(DSP) over four channels in one DSP to reduce per channel costs. In the Public Land Mobile Network(PLMN), it is important to cancel the echo reflected from the Public Switched Telephone Network(PSTN) side. In case of digital mobile system, the round-trip delay of the echo is in excess of about 180 milliseconds due to frame-by-frame voice coding. It is necessary to cancel the echo in PLMN. We have developed a multi-channel echo canceller tht operates with Time Switch Module in a Mobile Switching Center(MSC). The general echo canceller needs PCM trunk interface circuits and the tone detection and disabling circuits, but the multi-channel echo canceller linked with Time Switch Module does not need them. Therefore we could develop the effective and economical echo canceller.

  • Todays computer communication technology let people to do many unrealistic things possible and the use of those technologies is becoming increasingly prevalent throughout the military operation. Both DIS and ADS are welled defined computer aided military simulations. This study discusses a simulation of stochastic combat network modeling through Internet. We have developed two separate simulation models, one for clients and another for server, and validated for conducting studies with these two models. The object-oriented design was necessary to define the system entities and their relationship, to partition functionality into system entities, and to transform functional metrics into realizations derived from system component behaviors. Heterogeneous forces for each side are assumed at any battle node. The time trajectories for mean number of survivors at each node, some important combat measures, and relative difference computations between models were made. We observe and may conclude that the differences exist and some fo these are significant based on a limited number of experiments.
