간략화 전과정 평가(S-LCA) 기법을 이용한 전동차 구체의 환경성 평가 (Environmental Impact Assessment of the Carbody of a Electric Motor Unit(EMU) Using Simplified Life Cycle Assessment(S-LCA))

  • It is consequential to reduce the environmental impact of a product for sustainable development in 21st Century. In the field of transportation, especially, the technological market concerned about reduction and assessment of greenhouse gas emission is expected to be extended. The LCA gas been esteemed and utilized as a realistic alternative greenhouse gas emission is expected to be extended. The LCA has been esteemed and utilized as a realistic alternative to improve the environment by the assessment of environmental impacts. In this study, simplified life cycle assessment(S-LCA), was performed to analyze the environmental impacts quantitatively, which were produced through the life cycle of a electric motor unit(EMU). The object of the present work is rth investigate main parameters of environmental impacts and to establish the plans to improve the environment impact of EMU. As a result of quantitative assessment for environmental impact and manufacturing, the EMU carbody made of SUS showed acidification(AD) and marine water aquatic ecotoxicity(MAET) the most, while that made of Mild showed high impact of global warning(GW) and abiotic resources depletion(ARD). For the SUS EMU, the high AD and MAET impact is occurred by the discharged pollutants during acid-washing process. Also, high value of GW and ARD for Mild EMU is resulted from the consumption of iron ore, coal and crude oil during manufacturing. Therefore, the environment impact of carbody would be decreased by enhancing of energy efficiency and the lightening the weight of it.

Linseed oil supplementation affects fatty acid desaturase 2, peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma, and insulin-like growth factor 1 gene expression in turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo)

  • Objective: Effects of linseed oil (LO) supplementation on the fat content and fatty acid profile of breast meat, and the expression of three genes in the liver, breast muscle and fat tissues of commercial 154-day-old hybrid male turkeys were investigated. Methods: The animals in the control group were fed a commercially available feed and received no LO supplementation (n = 70), whereas animals in the LO group (n = 70) were fed the same basic diet supplemented with LO (day 15 to 21, 0.5%; day 22 to 112, 1%). The effect of dietary LO supplementation on fatty acid composition of breast muscle was examined by gas chromatography, and the expression of fatty acid desaturase 2 (FADS2), peroxisome proliferator activated receptor gamma (PPARγ), and insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF1) genes was analysed by means of quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results: The LO supplementation affected the fatty acid composition of breast muscle. Hepatic FADS2 levels were considerably lower (p<0.001), while adipose tissue expression was higher (p<0.05) in the control compared to the LO group. The PPARγ expression was lower (p<0.05), whereas IGF1 was higher (p<0.05) in the fat of control animals. There were no significant (p>0.05) differences in FADS2, PPARγ, and IGF1 gene expressions of breast muscle; however, omega-6/omega-3 ratio of breast muscle substantially decreased (p<0.001) in the LO group compared to control. Conclusion: Fatty acid composition of breast meat was positively influenced by LO supplementation without deterioration of fattening parameters. Remarkably, increased FADS2 expression in the liver of LO supplemented animals was associated with a significantly decreased omega-6/omega-3 ratio, providing a potentially healthier meat product for human consumption. Increased PPARγ expression in fat tissue of the LO group was not associated with fat content of muscle, whereas a decreased IGF1 expression in fat tissue was associated with a trend of decreasing fat content in muscle of the experimental LO group.

소형 4행정사이클 무과급 디이젤 기관의 성능 시뮤레이션 전산프로그램의 개발에 관한 연구 (A study on the development of simulation program for the small naturally aspirated four-stroke diesel engine)

  • Since 1973, the competition on the development of fuel saving type internal combustion engines has become severe by the two times oil shock, and new type engines are reported every several months. Whenever these new type engines are developed, new designs are required and they will be offered in the market after performing the endurance test for a long time. But the engine market is faced with a heavy burden of finance, as the developing of a new engine requires tremendous expenses. For this reason, the computer simulation method has been lately developed to cope with it. The computer simulation method can be available to perform the reasonable research works by the theoretical analysis before carrying out practical experiments. With these processes, the developing expenses are cut down and the period of development is curtailed. The object of this study is the development of simulation computer program for the small naturally aspirated four-stroke diesel engine which is intended to product by the original design of our country. The process of simulation is firstly investigated for the ideal engine cycle, and secondly for the real engine cycle. In the ideal engine cycle, each step of the cycle is simulated by the energy balance according to the first law of thermodynamics, and then the engine performance is calculated. In the real cycle imulation program, the injection rate, the preparation rate and the combustion rate of fuel and the heat transfer through the wall of combustion chamber are considered. In this case, the injection rate is supposed as constant through the crank angle interval of injection and the combustion rate is calculated by the Whitehouse-Way equation and the heat transfer is calculated by the Annand's equation. The simulated values are compared with measured values of the YANMAR NS90(C) engine and Mitsubishi 4D30 engine, and the following conclusions are drawn. 1. The heat loss by the exhaust gas is well agree with each other in the lower load, but the measured value is greater than the calculated value in the higher load. The maximum error rate is about 15% in the full load. 2. The calculated quantity of heat transfer to the cooling water is greater than the measured value. The maximum error rate is about 11.8%. 3. The mean effective pressure, the fuel consumption, the power and the torque are well agree with each other. The maximum error is occurred in the fuel consumption, and its error rate is about 7%. From the above remarks, it may be concluded that the prediction of the engine performance is possibly by using the developed program, although the program needs to reform by adding the simulation of intake and exhaust process and assumping more reliable mechanical efficiency, volumetric efficiency, preparation rate and combustion rate.

유연 종이 식품 포장재의 개질 아크릴 에멀젼 코팅 특성 및 재활용성 평가 (The Evaluation of the Packaging Properties and Recyclability with Modified Acrylic Emulsion for Flexible Food Paper Coating)

  • 최근 소비자들의 소비 형태가 온라인 쇼핑 및 간편식, 배달 음식 등 비대면 소비를 위한 서비스 시장이 크게 확대됨에 따라 플라스틱 일회용 제품의 소비가 급증하게 되면서, 사용한 플라스틱 폐기물에 의한 여러 환경오염 문제들이 발생하고 있다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 국제적으로 플라스틱 사용을 줄이고, 환경친화성 및 재활용성이 높은 지속 가능 물질로 대체하려는 움직임을 보이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 재활용성이 높은 종이에 다양한 종류의 배리어 코팅을 적용한 종이 시료의 물성과 배리어 특성 및 재활용성 등을 평가하여 실제로 식품용으로 사용되는 종이의 코팅층 종류와 이에 따른 물성 및 배리어성 개선 효과 및 재활용성에 미치는 영향을 확인하고자 하였다. 배리어 코팅종류는 PE와 PP, 개질 아크릴 코팅이 된 종이 시료를 사용하였으며, 코팅 처리하지 않은 종이를 대조군으로 하여 평가를 진행하였다. 형태학적 분석을 통해 PE의 코팅층은 약 30 ㎛, PP는 약 20 , 개질 아크릴은 10 ㎛의 코팅층 두께를 보여주었으며, 섬유조직 형태를 보여주던 대조군의 표면과 달리 배리어 코팅 종이는 코팅층으로 인하여 매끈한 표면 형태를 보여주었다. 기계적 물성 평가에서는 PE 코팅 종이와 개질 아크릴 코팅 종이에서 대조군이 비해 인장강도와 파열강도에서 개선되는 결과를 보여주었으며, PP 코팅 종이에서는 파열강도 외에 대조군과 유의적 차이를 보여주지 않았다. 공기 투기도 평가로 배리어 코팅층이 없는 대조군에서 약 2.24 ㎛/Pa·s로 가장 높은 투기도 값을 보여주었으며, 배리어 코팅 종이의 경우 모두 0.003 ㎛/Pa·s 이하의 상대적으로 낮은 투기도 값을 보여주었다. 또한 Cobb 사이즈도 대조군에서 약 43.77 g/m2로 가장 높은 흡수 특성을 보였으며, 배리어 코팅 종이 시료에서는 2.80 g/m2 이하의 흡수 특성을 보여주었다. 이는 이미 내수성 및 기체 차단 특성을 가진 고분자의 특성으로 종이의 차단 특성도 개선된 것으로 판단된다. 내유성 평가에서도 PE 코팅 종이와 PP 코팅 종이에서 최고 측정값인 12 등급으로 내유성이 높은 특징을 보여주었으며, 개질 아크릴 코팅 종이는 5 등급으로 PE, PP 코팅 종이 보다 상대적으로 낮은 내유성을 보여주긴 하였으며, 대조군은 0 등급으로 내유성이 없는 모습을 보여주었다. 코팅 처리별 종이의 재활용성 평가에서 대조군의 리젝트율은 5.25%로 모든 시료 중 미해리분이 가장 낮은 모습을 보여주었으며, PE 코팅 종이와 PP 코팅종이는 각각 19.04%, 16.57%로 리젝트율이 증가함을 나타냈다. 상대적으로 높은 리젝트율 값은 PE 코팅 종이와 PP 코팅 종이는 해리 시 코팅 층이 작은 크기로 조각나 미분화되어 슬릿에 걸러지는 것으로 확인하였으며, 이는 미해리분으로 인해 재활용에 어려움이 발생할 것으로 판단된다. 개질 아크릴 코팅 종이의 리젝트율은 6.25%로 대조군과 유사하게 미해리분 없이 스크린을 거의 통과되는 현상을 보여주었다. 이 결과는 개질 아크릴 수지의 수해리성이 높아 발생한 것으로 판단된다. PE 및 PP 코팅 종이에 비교하여 개질 아크릴 코팅 종이가 재활용성 평가에서 더 효율적인 결과를 가짐을 나타내며, 추가 해리되어 스크린 업셉트된 펄프 슬러리를 사용하여 제조한 재활용지에 대한 종이의 품질 변화는 향후 보강 연구가 필요할 것으로 판단된다.
