오미자 씨 오일의 화장품 소재로서 유효성 평가 (The Evaluation on the Effectiveness as a Cosmetic Material of Oil Extracted from Schizandra Chinensis Seed)

  • 오미자 씨 오일의 화장품 소재로서 가능성을 평가하기 위해 GC와 GC/MSD를 사용하여 안정성 평가 및 성분 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 주요성분은 팔미틱산과 올레익산으로 나타났다. 오미자 씨 오일은 열에 의한 성분변화가 없고, 소재 자체의 안정성이 뛰어난 것으로 나타났다. 또한, DPPH(1,1-Diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) 라디칼 소거능 실험을 통하여 항산화 효능을 측정한 결과 오미자 씨 오일이 마카다미아 오일과 올리브 오일에 비하여 높은 항산화 효능을 나타내었다. 콜라겐 합성능 또한 뛰어난 것으로 평가되었다. 따라서, 오미자 씨 오일은 화장품 소재용으로 유용하게 활용될 수 있는 가능성을 가진 것으로 평가되었다.

왕복동식 압축기의 저널 베어링 오일 패스 설계를 위한 연구 (A Study on Oil Path Design in the Journal Bearing of a Reciprocating Compressor)

  • Because the performance of a reciprocating compressor in refrigeration and air-conditioning systems is influenced by the lubrication characteristics of sliding components, the lubrication characteristics between the crankshaft and journal bearing have to be researched for the design and the performance improvement of reciprocating compressors. Thus, the proper supply of lubricant for a lubrication between the crankshaft and journal bearing is essential, and an oil path for lubricant supply is installed in the shaft or bearing. However, in order to guarantee the lubrication performance of the journal bearing, it is necessary to design the position of the oil path. Therefore, it is studied to find the optimum position of the oil path by the analysis of the pressure distribution in the journal bearing. The results show that the position of the oil path is significantly influenced by the pressure distribution of the oil film in the journal bearing.

Compositional Characterization of Petroleum Heavy Oils Generated from Vacuum Distillation and Catalytic Cracking by Positive-mode APPI FT-ICR Mass Spectrometry

  • Molecular compositions of two types of heavy oil were studied using positive atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI) Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry (FT-ICR MS). Vacuum gas oil (VGO) was generated from vacuum distillation of atmospheric residual oil (AR), and slurry oil (SLO) was generated from catalytic cracking of AR. These heavy oils have similar boiling point ranges in the range of 210-$650^{\circ}C$, but they showed different mass ranges and double-bond equivalent (DBE) distributions. Using DBE and carbon number distributions, aromatic ring distributions, and the extent of alkyl side chains were estimated. In addition to the main aromatic hydrocarbon compounds, those containing sulfur, nitrogen, and oxygen heteroatoms were identified using simple sample preparation and ultra-high mass resolution FT-ICR MS analysis. VGO is primarily composed of mono- and di-aromatic hydrocarbons as well as sulfur-containing hydrocarbons, whereas SLO contained mainly polyaromatic hydrocarbons and sulfur-containing hydrocarbons. Both heavy oils contain polyaromatic nitrogen components. SLO inludes shorter aromatic alkyl side chains than VGO. This study demonstrates that APPI FT-ICR MS is useful for molecular composition characterization of petroleum heavy oils obtained from different refining processes.

한국산 향유로부터 얻은 정유의 조성과 콜린에스테라제 억제활성 (Composition and Anti-cholinesterase Activity of the Essential Oil Obtained from Korean Elsholtzia ciliata)

  • The present GC-MS analysis elucidated the composition of the essential oil obtained from the herb of Elsholtzia ciliata(Lamiaceae). Overall, the content of monoterpenes was higher than that of sesquiterpenes. Monoterpenes rich in this oil were carvone (peak area, 26.180%), camphor (2.304%), borneol (9.974%), dihydrocarveol (3.296%), ${\alpha}$-citral (=geranial, 4.025%), geranic acid (2.961%), while sesquiterpenes occupying relatively higher percentage were ${\alpha}$-humulene (0.918%), (-)-spathulenol (0.974%), ${\alpha}$-caryophyllene oxide (2.014%), globulol (1.362%), ${\beta}$-caryophyllene oxide (0.750%). The components characterizing this oil were 1-octen-3-ol, acetophenone, and butylated hydroxytoluene. The $IC_{50}$ of this oil on acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and butyrylcholinesterase (BChE) were $42.37{\mu}g/ml$ and $121.34{\mu}g/ml$, respectively, suggesting that the essential oil of E. ciliata may be active on the memory loss of patients suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

Extraction and Mixing Effects of Grape (Campbell) Seed Oil

  • Grape seed oil was extracted using different preparatory treatments as follows: (1) grinding, (2) grinding and roasting, (3) grinding and wet- roasting, (4) grinding, roasting, and wet-roasting, and (5) grinding, wet-roasting, and wet-roasting. The highest antioxidant activity was obtained from the sample with the method (2). Initial states of oxidation were similar except method (1) that showed more oxidized state, being P.O.V.8. Acid values were observed in the range from 1.42 to 1.89. The lowest acid value was found as 1.42 in method (1) and those of others were somewhat higher, indicating that heating process of roasting produced some free fatty acids. From the results of sensory evaluation, the best odor and taste were obtained from the methods (2) and (3). Repetitive procedure of wet-roasting, like method 5, caused some loss of flavor components and decrease in the sensory evaluation score. Addition of grape seed oil (method 2) to soybean and perilla oil at the level of 20% retained considerable antioxidant activities as much as 4.3 and 5 times, respectively, than 100% soybean or perilla oil stored for 12 weeks. When soybean or perilla oil was mixed with 20% grape seed oils, P.O.V. decreased to half of that of unmixed oils.

반 잠수식 시추선 및 주요장비에 대한 이해 (Semi-submersible Drilling Rig and Drilling Equipment)

  • An exploration well is drilled where oil or gas potential is shown by a seismic survey and interpretation. With the advance of drilling technology, most of the easily accessible oil had been developed by the end of the 20th century. To satisfy the ever increasing demand for oil, and bolstered by high oil prices, the major oil companies started to drill in deep water, which requires a deep offshore drilling unit. Offshore drilling units are generally classified by their maximum operating water depth. Many semi-submersible rigs have been purpose-designed for the drilling industry as the allowable drilling water depth has become deeper by the developed technics since the first semi-submersible was launched in 1963. Semi-submersible rigs are commonly used for shallow to deep water up to 3,000 m. Drilling equipment such as a top drive, blowout preventer, drawworks and power system, mud circulation system, and subsea wellhead system are explained to help with an understanding of offshore drilling procedures in the oil and gas fields. The objective of this paper is to introduce the main components of a semi-submersible rig and, by doing so, to raise the awareness of offshore drilling, which accounts for over 30% of the total oil production and will continue to increase.

SWNT Sensors for Monitoring the Oxidation of Edible Oils

  • Several methods are available to measure the oxidation of edible oils, such as their acid, peroxide, and anisidine values. However, these methods require large quantities of reagents and are time-consuming tasks. Therefore, a more convenient and time-saving way to measure the oxidation of edible oils is required. In this study, an edible oil-condition sensor was fabricated using single-walled nanotubes (SWNTs) made using the spray deposition method. SWNTs were dispersed in a dimethylformamide solution. The suspension was then sprayed using a spray gun onto a prefabricated Au/Ti electrode. To test the sensor, oxidized edible oils, each with a different acid value, were prepared. The SWNT sensors were immersed into these oxidized oils, and the resistance changes in the sensors were measured. We found that the conductivity of the sensors decreased as the oxidation level of the oil increased. In the case of the virgin oil, the resistance change ratio in the SWNT sensor S(%) = {[(Rf - Ri)]/Ri}(%) was more than 40% after immersion for 1 min. However, in the case of the oxidized oil, the resistance change ratio decreased to less than that of the response of the virgin oil. This result suggests that the change in the oil components induced by the oxidation process in edible oils is related to the conductivity change in the SWNT sensor.

대파 향미유의 원재료 부위별 향미특성 (Flavor Characteristics according to Parts of Raw Materials on Allium fistulosum L. Seasoning Oil)

  • 대파를 부위별로 분획하여 대파 전체, 잎, 줄기, 뿌리를 동량 처리하여 각각 autoclaving법에 의하여 대두유를 기질로 WOSO를 제조하였다. 이들 4종 WOSO의 이화학적 특성은 큰 차이가 없었으며, 대파 잎향미유의 경우 Lovibond 색상에서 고유의 청색을 상대적으로 강하게 나타내는 특성을 나타내었다. 휘발성 향기성분은 총 35종이 검출되었으며, 주요 향기성분은 methyl propenyl trisulfide와 propenyl propyl trisulfide이었으며, 각각 대파 뿌리향미유에서 가장 높은 26.94 ppm, 26.26 ppm으로 나타났다. 이와 함께 propenyl propyl disulfide 등이 WOSO의 향미특성에 큰 영향을 미치는 성분인 것으로 판단된다. 또한, carbonyl 화합물 함량은 각각 79.46 ${\mu}g$, 77.17 ${\mu}g$, 76.32 ${\mu}g$, 73. 62 ${\mu}g$이었다. 결론적으로 WOSO에서 고유의 구수한 향미를 나타내는 부위는 잎이나 줄기가 아니라 뿌리 부분임을 확인할 수 있었다.

추출방법에 따른 Nutmeg Oil의 물리적, 화학적 성질에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Some Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Nutmeg Oil by Different Extraction Methods)

  • 추출방법을 달리하여 얻은 육두구 정유에 대한 물리적 성질을 측정하고, GC와 GC/MS를 이용하여 분석하였다. 추출수율은 용매추출이 23%로 가장 많았고 SDE 추출, $CO_2$ 추출순이었다. 육두구유에 대한 물리적 성질과 GC분석결과에서 본 실험에 사용한 육두구는 East Indies type에 가까운 것을 확인할 수 있었고 각각 추출물의 분석결과로부터 sabinene은 3.6-14.1%, miristicin은 28.4-48.7% elemicin은 1.2-2.1%이 함유되어 있음을 알 수 있었다. 또 발암물질로 알려진 safrole은 SDE 추출에서 3.8%, 용매추출에서 3.6%, $CO_2$추출에서 5.6% 함유하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. SDE 추출이나 용매추출에서 확인된 camphene은 $CO_2$추출에서 확인할 수 없었고 monoterpene, terpene alcohol 계통의 화합물은 SDE 추출이나 용매 추출에 많았다. 방향족 화합물은 $CO_2$추출에서 많이 추출됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

비자(榧子)의 지방질(脂肪質) 성분(成分)에 관한 연구(硏究) -제 1 보(濟 1 報) : 비자유(榧子油)의 물리화학적(物理化學的) 특성(特性)- (Studies on the Lipid Components of Torreya nucifera Seed -I. Physico-Chemical Properties of the Seed Oil-)

  • 비자유(榧子油)의 물리화학적 특성을 조사한 결과는 다음과 같이 요약될 수 있다. 1) 일반분석치는 수분 12.33%, 조단백질 9.46%, 조지방질 54.29%, 섬유소 5.28%, 회분 2.13%로서 조지방 함량이 대단히 높음을 알 수 있다. 2) 비자유(榧子油)의 비중은 0.92, 굴절율은 1.47, 요드값은 127, 비누화값은 182.2, 산값은 9.5, 에스테르값은 172.7이었다. 3) 지방산의 조성은 미리스트산, 팔미트산, 스테아르산, 아라키드산 등의 포화지방산이 10%이하이며, 불포화지방산 인 올레산 31.68%, 리놀레산 46.77%, 리놀렌산 0.38%로서 리놀레산의 함량이 높고 리놀렌산은 대단히 적었다.
