창의성 계발 과학교육을 위한 한국 - 이스라엘 과학교사 연수프로그램의 효율성 (What Makes Korea-Israel Science Teachers Inservice Program for Fostering Learners' Creativity Effective?)

  • 본 연구는 창의성 계발 과학교육을 위한 한국-이스라엘 과학교사 연수 프로그램의 효율성을 분석한 구체적 결과를 근거로 향후 보다 효율성이 높은 연수 프로그램의 개선 방향을 제안하는 데 목적을 두고 연수에 참여한 교사들을 대상으로 사전 사후 설문조사를 실시하였다. 연구결과에 따라, 연수개선 방향을 제시하면 첫째, 연수에 참여한 교사들의 창의성 계발 과학교육의 필요성에 대한 인식, 교육 현황에 대한 이해, 및 저해요인 등에 대한 이해수준의 분석을 통해 연수 프로그램의 내용을 선정하고 수업방법 등에 대한 계획을 수립해야 할 것이다. 둘째, 교사들의 창의성에 대한 이해수준을 심화시킬 수 있는 내용을 확대 포함시켜야 할 것이다. 셋째, 연수시 창의성 계발 교수방법이 모범적으로 적용되고 있는 수업관찰 및 분석을 위한 내용이 충분히 포함되어야 할 것이다. 넷째, 이스라엘의 문화와 교육체제에 관련된 내용은 축소하여야 할 것이다.

  • We propose a cosmological survey to probe star formation and nuclear activity in galaxies at redshifts of z=2-4 by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) features using the SPICA mid-infrared instrument (SMI) with a spectral resolution of R=20. We will cover a wavelength range of $20-36{\mu}$ that corresponds to z=2-4 for the PAH features (11.3, 7.7, and $6.2{\mu}$). The sensitivity will be $1{\times}10^{-19}W/m^2(5{\sigma})$ in case of a reference survey that covers 4 arcmin2 field in a one-hour observation. It corresponds to $L_{IR}=2{\times}10^{11}L_{\odot}$ at z=3 and will give us more than 10000 galaxies in a 450 hour survey.

한강 하류부의 수질변동에 대한 추계학적 특성(I) - 특히 뚝도 및 노량진 지점의 DO, 탁도, 수온의 변동을 중심으로 - (Stochastic Properties of Water Quality Variation in Downstream Part of Han River)

  • The stochastic variations and structures of time series data on water quality were examined by employing the techniques of autocorrelation function, variance spectrum, Fourier series, autoregressive model and ARIMA model. These time series included hourly and daily observation on DO, turbidity, conductivity pH and water temperature. The measurement was made by automatic recording instrument at Noryangjin and Dook-do located in the downstream part of Han River during 1975 and 1976. Hourly water quality time series varied with the dominant 24-hour periodicity, and the 12-hour periodicity was also observed. An important factor affecting 24-hour periodic variation of DO is believed to be photosynthesis by algae. These phenomena might be attributable to periodic discharges of municipal sewage. Noryangjin site showed the more distinct 12-hour periodicity than Dook-do site did, and tidal effect might be responsible for the difference. The water quality, as measured by DO and turbidity, was better in the afternoon compared with the quality in the morning. This change can be explained by the periodic variation of DO, temperature and the amount of municipal wewage discharge. It was also observed that the water temperature at Noryangjin was higher than the temperature at Dook-do. This difference might have been caused by the pollutants that were added to the section between two sites. The correlation coefficients between some of the variables were fairly high. For example, the coefficient was -0.88 between DO and water temperature, 0.75 between turbidity and river flow, and 0.957 between water temperature and air temperature. The lag time of heat transfer from the air to the water was estimated as 24 days. The first order auto-regressive model was appropriate for explaning standardized hourly DO time series. The ARIMA model of (1, 0, 0) type provided relatively satisfactory results for daily DO time series after the removal of significant harmonic value.

인공위성 탑재용 극자외선 태양망원경(EUVT) EM 개발 (DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOLAR EUV TELESCOPE ENGINEERING MODEL FOR A SATELLITE)

  • 본 논문은 인공위성에 탑재될 것을 감안한 극자외선 태양망원경의 제작을 통한 연구 결과를 기술한다. 극자외선은 지상에서는 관측되지 않는 영역으로 인공위성이나 로켓 등에 탑재되어 관측하게 된다. 본 연구의 극자외선 태양망원경(EUVT; Extreme-Ultra-Violet solar Telescope)의 설계는 '인공위성 탑재용 극자외선 태양망원경 공학모형 설계'(한정훈 등 2001)를 기반으로 인공위성에 탑재할 만한 크기와 위성 입력전압에 따른 전자부 설계 등 기본적인 요구사항에 맞추었으며, 특히 EVUT의 관측 파장대인 58.4㎚에서 62.9㎚의 검출 가능성에 중점을 두었다. 본 논문에서는 부경으로 인한 차폐율을 줄이기 위한 광학계 설계 변경과 공학모형(Engineering Model)을 제작하는데 사용된 검출기와 광학 기술에 대해 논의한다. 또한, EUVT의 검출기가 받는 태양 복사량을 산출하기 위한 검출효율 프로그램과 차후 관측 자료 처리에 대해 기술한다.

정상견 무릎의 관절경 검사소견 (Arthroscopic Findings of the Canine Stifle Joint)

  • Arthroscopy is a valuable diagnostic and operative tool in equine and human orthopedics. The arthroscope is a difficult instrument to use and requires patience, practice, and persistence in order to obtain good results. This technique was found to be less traumatic than arthrotomy, invasiveness, rapid recovery and the feasibility of surgically correcting many arthropathies. The use of the arthroscope in the dog provides a new dimension in the study and diagnosis of joint derangements. The purpose of this report is to introduce the use of the arthroscope in the dog-more specifically, in the stifle of the dog. A diameter 2.7 mm fore-oblique viewing arthroscope, cold light source, video and video printer are used. With the fore-oblique viewing type it is possible to view directly as well as slightly to the side and the range of viewing can be increased by rotating the arthroscope around the object The scope is connected with a cold light source by means of a fiber-optic light guide. The stifle joint was flexed to 20~30$^{\circ}$. The joint were lavaged with lactated Ringer's solution during arthroscopic examination. Arthroscopy of the stifle was performed prior to arthrotomy in 1 dead dog and 4 healthy dogs, and other 3 dogs was performed only arthroscopic examination. In this study only the conventional approaches were used and in most cases it was possible to view all the intra-articular structures via the lateral infrapatellar approach. In the stifle joint, endoscopic observation was performed to find lateral femoral condyle, patella, medial femoral condyle, trochlear groove, tibia, fat, cranial cruciate ligament, caudal cruciate ligament lateral meniscus, tendon of long digital extensor muscle, medial meniscus, and medial collateral ligament Post-arthroscopic examination, the lameness had disappeared within 12~24 hours. Pain and swelling in the stifle joint had disappeared within 24~36 hours. Post-arthroscopic secondary infection was never encountered in the dogs. In conclusion, arthroscopic insertion technique in canine stifle joint using a diameter 2.7 mm 30$^{\circ}$ arthroscope was established and arthroscopical views of all anatomical structures in the normal stilfe joint were obtained through lateral infrapatellar portal.

Auto-guiding Performance from IGRINS Test Observations (Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrograph)

  • In astronomical spectroscopy, stable auto-guiding and accurate target centering capabilities are critical to increase the achievement of high observation efficiency and sensitivity. We developed an instrument control software for the Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrograph (IGRINS), a high spectral resolution near-infrared slit spectrograph with (R=40,000). IGRINS is currently installed on the McDonald 2.7 m telescope in Texas, USA. We had successful commissioning observations in March, May, and July of 2014. The role of the IGRINS slit-viewing camera (SVC) is to move the target onto the slit, and to provide feedback about the tracking offsets for the auto-guiding. For a point source, we guide the telescope with the target on the slit. While for an extended source, we use another a guide star in the field offset from the slit. Since the slit blocks the center of the point spread function, it is challenging to fit the Gaussian function to guide and center the target on slit. We developed several center finding algorithms, e.g., 2D-Gaussian Fitting, 1D-Gaussian Fitting, and Center Balancing methods. In this presentation, we show the results of auto-guiding performances with these algorithms.

  • KASI (Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute) is developing the near-infrared camera system named KASINICS (KASI Near-Infrared Camera System) which will be installed at the 60cm f/13.5 Ritchey-Chretien telescope of the Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory (SOAO). The camera system is optimized for JHKL bands and has a 6 arcmin FOV. The optical system consists of two spherical mirrors and a 8-position filter wheel. With the exception for the dewar window, all optical elements are cooled inside cryogenic dewar. Since the Offner system is adopted to prevent thermal noises from outside of the telescope primary mirror, the secondary mirror of the Offner system acts as a cold Lyot stop. The optical performance does not change by temperature variations because the Aluminum mirrors contract and expand homogeneously with its mount. We finished the design and fabrication of the optical parts and are now aligning the optical system. We plan to have a test observation on 2006 January.

Progress report on CQUEAN (Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse)

  • We report the current status of CQUEAN (Camera for QUasars in EArly uNiverse) development. CQUEAN is an optical CCD camera which uses a 1024*1024 pixel deep-depletion CCD. It has an enhanced QE than conventional CCD at wavelength band around 1${\mu}m$, thus it will be an efficient tool for observation of quasars at z > 7. It will be attached to the 2.1m telescope at McDonald Observatory, USA. A telescope interface containing a focal reducer is being designed to secure a larger field of view at the cassegrain focus of 2.1m telescope. Instrument control software will be written with python on linux platform. We are carrying out lab tests to investigate the characteristics of the system components in order to maximize the observational efficiency. Preliminary results of the tests will be presented. CQUEAN is expected to see the first light during summer season of 2010.

  • CQUEAN (Camera fo QUasars in EArly uNiverse) is a newly developed camera by CEOU for the 2.1m telescope at the McDonald Observatory, Texas, USA. We report the early science results from the commissioning run of CQUEAN which include the observations of the gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglows and quasars at z ~ 5.5. Although the data were originally taken to test the instrument performance, the results are already very encouraging. We uncovered GRB afterglows at z = 0.8 - 1.4, with our data being used for the international collaboration research to understand the nature of GRBs. The unique filter sets we employed are providing the data which are effective for selecting quasars at z ~ 5.5. The special aspects of CQUEAN - high sensitivity at 0.8-1.1 ${\mu}m$ and fast readouts - will allow us to produce many interesting through surveys of high redshift quasars and fast follow-up of transient objects such as GRBs and exoplanets in future.

중환자실 간호사의 기관내 흡인 실태 (A Study on Nurses' Ability to Perform Endotracheal Suction)

  • The purpose of this study was to survey the ability of nurses to perform endotracheal suction to provide basic data on correct endotracheal suction. The participants in this study were 181 intensive care unit nurses in two university hospitals and one general hospital located in Daegu, one university hospital and two general hospitals located in Pohang, one university hospital located in Gyeongju. These data were collected from February 1, 2001 to March 10, 2001 using self reported questionnaires. The study instrument, which was developed by these investigators, included questions on general characteristics and performance of endotracheal suction. The results of this study are as follows : 1. Of the Participants 71.3% recognized correct endotracheal suctioning and 23.2% did not. 2. The greatest number, 57.5%, acquired knowledge about endotracheal suctioning at conferences on practice or education for staff. 3 There were significant differences in scores on performance of endotracheal suction according to department (F=2.60, P=.05) and hospitals (F=3.24, p=.01) among the general characteristics. 4. Slightly less than half of the participants, 47.8%, averaged correct scores for endotracheal suctioning procedures. Ventilator $O_2$ supply had the highest score (84.0%), normal saline exchange time, the lowest (14.4%) From the results, we suggest that education is needed to increase the knowledge and correct performance of endotracheal suction. Further study including direct observation of Performance of endotracheal suction is also needed.
