  • In this paper we propose a method of detecting moving object in H.264/AVC bitstream by representing the $4{\times}4$ block partition units as nodes of graph. By constructing hierarchical graph by taking into account the relation between nodes and the spatial-temporal relations between graphs in frames, we are able to track small objects, distinguish two occluded objects, and identify objects that move and stop alternatively.

  • This paper presents a method to segment object ID marks on poor quality images under uncontrolled lighting conditions of FA inspection process. The method is based on multiple templates and normalized gray-level correlation (NGC) method. We propose a multiple template method, called as ATM (Active Template Model) which uses combinational relation of multiple templates from model templates to match and segment several characters of the inspection images. Conventional Snakes algorithm provides a good methodology to model the functional of ATM. To increase the computation speed to segment the ID mark regions, we introduce the Dynamic Programming based algorithm. Experimental results using images from real FA environment are presented.

  • We propose new metrics for understandability and modifiability of class inheritance structures based on the object-oriented metrics suggested by Chidamber and Kemerer. The metrics are evaluated using the results of Gursaran s experiments which validated the empirical relation of DIT(Depth of Inheritance Tree) and NOC(Number of Children) metrics of Chidamber and Kemerer.

Applying Alcock-Paczynski Test to the Large Scale Structure

  • The main idea of the Alcock-Paczynski (AP) test is that, if we use a wrong distance-redshift relation to infer the shape of a spherical object in the Universe, this object may look non-spherical. To probe the cosmic expansion history through the AP test, the key point is to find something which is known as spherical in the Universe. We propose two possible ways applying the AP test to the large scale structure (LSS): 1) Based on the observed galaxies or quasars, one built up the beta-skeleton tracing the LSS, and investigating the inhomogeneity of the connections; 2) One reconstructs the smoothed density-contrast gradient field based on LSS observations, and investigating the inhomogeneity of the gradient vectors. Compared with some existed methods probing AP effect through 2-point correlation function, galaxy pairs, or voids, our methods have various advantages: 1) The information of both the high and low dense regions of the LSS are taken into account. 2) The redshift space distortion as the main contamination to the AP effect can be easily removed.

  • Recent commercial systems are too large and too complex to restructure their design by hand without tools and cost too much time and effort. This thesis presents a restructuring approach using cohesion and coupling of classes to change object-oriented designs automatically. The matrix which represents the relation between methods is defined by distance between methods using cohesion and coupling, Class restructuring starts to isolate to dividing class, selects the class to have the lowest cohesion and combines the selected class with the closest class.

  • In this paper, we propose a method and condition of locating the position of an object in one dimension by using the phase difference of arrival(PDOA), To get a phase difference, the comparator of a wayside radio station(WRS) compares the reference signal with the received signal, Therefore, we can locate the position of a moving object. Finally, by using the simulation of a computer we analyze their values.

Real-time Trajectory Adaptation for a Biped Robot with Varying Load

  • This paper proposes suitable gait generation for dynamic walking of biped robot with varying load in real time. Author proposes the relationship between ZMP(Zero Moment Point) and measurement from FSR(Force Sensing Register). Simplifying this relationship, it is possible to reduce the computational time and control the biped robot in real time. If the weight of the biped robot varies in order to move some object, then joint trajectories of the the biped robot must be changed. When some object is loaded on the biped robot in it's home position, FSRs can measure the variation of weight. Evaluating the relations between varying load and stable gait of the biped robot, it can walk adaptively. This relation enables the biped robot to walk properly with varying load. The simulation is also represented in this paper which shows proposed relationships.

Map recognition using the relation between line segments (선분들간의 관계를 이용한 인식)

  • Because a map consists of many lines, a process of recognizing an object in a map is one to group lines that are consistent with the structure of the object. Therefore, it is important to establish an efficient method for finding lines which constitute objects. In this paper, a novel method for recognizing roads and districts in a land register map is proposed. In this method, lines that constitute objects are searched in a reduced search space by defining some relations between lines, and objects are recognized by using the structural information of the objects. As a result, the search space is reduced effetively, and even objects that embody the broken lines and the crossed lines are recognized.

MASS ESTIMATE TECHNIQUES OF MOLECULAR CLOUDS

  • We have reviewed three different techniques to estimate molecular cloud mass, and discussed the uncertainties involved. We found that determination of the most important parameter, the $^{13}CO$ abundance, is not very sensitive to the real LTE conditions, and that any possible error in deriving LTE column density may not introduce an error in the total gas column density, as far as the visual extinction is established for the object cloud. The virial technique always endows the largest mass estimate as there are several uncertainties, even if the cloud is in virial equilibrium. The strong indicator of the cloud perturbation is the centroid velocity dispersion. The mass using CO luminosity is based on the empirical law, but weakly dependent on the virial assumption, thus it still gives a larger mass estimate. The mass discrepancy is likely to be inevitable, and a factor of two or three difference between mass estimates could easily be attributed to the uncertainties mentioned above. The LTE mass estimate may be the most reliable one if we use the relation visual extinction and $^{13}CO$ column density of the object cloud, and the intercept is included.
