  • Algorithms for predicting the optimal route of vehicles are being actively sudied with the recent development of autonomous driving technology. Companies such as SK, Kakao, and Naver provide services that navigate the optimal route. They predicts the optimal path with information from the users in real time. However, they can predict the optimal route, but not optimal lane route. We proposes a system that navigates the optimal lane path with coordinates data from vehicles using Lidar sensor. The proposed method is a system that guides smooth lanes by acquiring time series coordinate data of a vehicle after performing the Lidar-based object detection method. we demonstrates the performance using actual acquired data from the experimental results.

  • In this research, a tool was developed for the rapid performance of three-dimensional finite element analysis (3D FEA) of a machine tool spindle system made of a shaft and bearings. It runs the FEA with data, such as the bearing stiffness and the coordinates of the points, to define the section of the shaft, bearing positions, and cutting point. developed for the spindle system and then implemented with the tool using an object-oriented programing technique that allows the use of the objects of the CAD system used in this research. Graphic user interfaces were designed for a user to interact with the tool. It provides rapid evaluation of the design of a spindle system, and therefore, it would be helpful to identify a near optimal design of a spindle system based on, say, static stiffness with design changes and, consequently, FEA.

  • It was previously introduced a new displacement measuring technique using terrestrial laser scanning (TLS) that remotely samples the surface of an object using laser pulses and generates the three-dimensional (3D) coordinates of numerous points on the surface. In this paper, for an assessment of the capabilities of the measuring technique about existing structures, the field tests for vertical displacement measurement of an existing long span steel box-girder are experimentally carried out. The performance of the technique is evaluated by comparing the displacements obtained from TLS system and displacements directly measured from linear variable displacement transducer (LVDT).

  • The equipment of industrial robot in manufacturing and assembly lines has rapidly increased. In order to achieve high productivity and flexibility, it becomes very important to develop the visual feedback control system with Off-Line Programming System(OLPS). We can save much efforts and time in adjusting robots to newly defined workcells by using OLPS. A proposed visual calibration scheme is based on position-based visual feedback. The calibration program firstly generates predicted images of objects in an assumed end-effector position. The process to generate predicted images consists of projection to screen-coordinates, visible range test and construction of simple silhouette figures. Then camera images acquired are compared with predicted ones for updating position and orientation data. Computation of error is very simple because the scheme is based on perspective projection which can be also expanded to experimental results. Computation time can be extremely reduced because the proposed method does not require the precise calculation of tree-dimensional object data and image Jacobian.

  • Monitoring structures is important to maintain the safety and serviceability of the structures. The maximum displacement in the structure should be precisely and frequently monitored because it is a direct assessment index indicating its stiffness. However, no practical method has been developed to monitor such displacement precisely, particularly for high-rise buildings and long span bridges because they cannot be easily accessible. To overcome such difficult accessibility, we propose to use a LIDAR system that remotely samples the surface of an object using laser pulses and generates the coordinates of numerous points on the surface. By analyzing the LIDAR points sampled from the surfaces of a deformed structure, we can precisely determine the displacement of the structure. In this study, we thus develop a novel method based the LIDAR system and perform an indoor experiment to prove its performance. This experimental results strongly supports that the displacement measurement using the LIDAR system are enough accurate to be used for structural analyses.

  • This is a study on the analysis of vibration mode of a laser doppler. We measure the vibration mode of a doppler and analyze each component, and want to estimate three dimensional properties from 2-dimensional data. The vibration mode relies on a range detector that uses a distance sensor. Since the outputs are determined by the measured distance, we want to study how 3-dimensional vibration mode is generated from 2-dimensional ones. The study will include the patterns of generating a 3-dimensional vibration mode as well as the relationship between the distance and the vibration mode.

  • Recently, efficient manufacturing of high precision is an important issue in modern industry as more variety of industrial products is being designed with compound surfaces. Rapid CAD data generation can be possible based on a non-contact type CMM of object through the use of reverse engineering. However, some registration to match the data measured from various directions into a common coordinate system is required. Also, the error can happen if it uses the conventional method to large product of thin thickness. So it is necessary to develop a new method, which was designed for the registration of large and thin products. Additionally, an algorithm to pick up coordinates for the newly designed method was proposed.

  • The object of this study is to investigate the effect of compounded welding by using an acoustic emission (AE) signals and doing a source location for weld heat affected zone (HAZ) through tensile testing. This study was carried out a SM 490A high tension steel for electronic shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), $CO_2$ gas arc welding and TIG welding. Data displays are based on the measured parameters of the AE signals, along with environmental variables such as time and load. These history plots are displays showing the chronological course of the test. Also, source location gives the X- and Y-coordinates of the AE source.

  • This paper is a study on the determination of plane coordinates by observing only the distance with EDM (Electromagnetic Distance Measuring instrument). The advent of EDM has made a precise measurements of long distance be possible, therefore many studies on trilateration were made. It is the object of this study to investigate the error distribution of trilateration according to the changing distance and the geometric figure.
