패류 가공에 관한 연구 -3. 개량조개 박편건제품의 제조 및 저장중의 색소 잔존율과 흡수율에 대하여- (Studies on the Shellfish Processing -3. The Pigment Retention and the Water Absorbing Capacity of Dehydrated Mashed Surf Clam Meat Flakes during Dehydration and Storage-)

  • 토사질을 제거한 생 개량조개 육을 BHA, EDTA 또는 $NaHSO_3$를 각각 처리한 다음 갈아서 박편으로 열풍건조한 박편건제품의 제조 및 저장중에 있어서 이들의 처리가 박편건제품의 색소 소실 및 흡수율에 미치는 영향을 검토한 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 1) 생개량조개를 갈아서 조개의 형태를 바꾸어 엷게 열풍건조 하므로서 조개의 원형 그대로 건조하는 것 보다 건조시간을 약1/2로 단축할 수 있었다. 2) BHA를 처리하여 박편으로 건조한 것은 다른 처리구와 비교할 때 박편건제품 제조 및 저장중에 색소 소실이 가장 적었다. 3) 박편건제품은 조개 형태 그대로 말린 제품 보다 흡수율이 약2배 높았다. 4) 박편건제품을 암실에 저장한 것은 햇빛이 닿는 곳에 저장한 것 보다 색소 소실도 적고 흡수율도 좋았다.

Subacute Inhalation Toxicity of Cyclohexanone in B6C3F1 Mice

  • Cyclohexanone ($C_6H_{10}O$, CAS No. 108-94-1) is a colorless oily liquid obtained through the oxidation of cyclohexane or dehydrogenation of phenol. It is used in the manufacture of adhesives, sealant chemicals, agricultural chemicals, paint and coating additives, solvent, electrical and electronic products, paints and coatings, photographic supplies, film, photochemicals, and as an intermediate in nylon production. Owing to the lack of information on repeated inhalation toxicity of cyclohexaone, in this study, we aimed to characterize the subacute inhalation toxicity. B6C3F1 mice were exposed to 0, 50, 150, and 250 ppm of cyclohexanone for 6 hr/day, 5 days/week for 4 weeks via whole-body inhalation in accordance with the OECD Test Guideline 412 (subacute inhalation toxicity: 28-day study). Mortality, clinical signs, body weights, food consumption, hematology, serum biochemistry, organ weights, as well as gross and histopathological findings were evaluated between the control and exposure groups. No mortality or remarkable clinical signs were observed during the study. No adverse effects on body weight, food consumption, hematology, serum biochemistry, and organ weights, gross or histopathological lesions were observed in any male or female mice in any of the exposure groups, although some statistically significant changes were observed in organ weights. We concluded that no observable adverse effect level (NOAEL) is above 250 ppm in mice exposed to cyclohexanone for 6 hr/day for 5 days/week.

나일론6 권축사 개발에 관한 연구 (Study on development of Nylon6 high bulky yarn)

  • 스포츠웨어 바람막이용도에 사용되는 대부분의 소재는 폴리아미드계 소재이며, 국내에서는 대부분 나일론6 소재를 사용하고 있다. 최근 소비자들의 요구는 점점 경량화되고 있고 야외활동 증가와 더불어 착용감이 우수한 소재를 요구하고 있다. 이러한 시즘에 국내에서 많이 사용되는 나일론6 소재를 이용하여 직물단계에서 경량감과 스트레치성이 발현될수 있는 나일론6 세섬 권축사 개발에 대한 연구를 진행하고자 함이다. 본 연구에서는 직물단계에서 경량감과 스트레치성이 발현될수 있는 나일론6 세섬 권축사 개발을 위해 공중합 나일론6 폴리머와 일반 나일론6 폴리머를 복합방사설비를 이용하여 SIDE BY SIDE POY 26d/6f 원사를 제조하였다. 원사물성은 섬도 25.8d, 절단신도 71%, 절단강도 4.3g/d의 물성을 가졌으며, Nip Belt 가연설비로 연신비, 가연 1st 히터온도, 벨트각도 조건에 따라서 제조된 나일론6 가연사 DTY 20d/6f의 물성을 평가하였고, 비교사로서 T사에서 생산되고 있는 나일론6 가연사 DTY 20d/6f와 비교평가하였다. 비수탄성율은 가연 연신비가 높고, 1st 히터온도가 높은 조건에서 높게 나타남을 알 수 있었으며, 염색 가공 공정에서의 전처리단계에서 $100^{\circ}C$정도의 열을 받았을 때의 수축에 따른 권축효과 발현에 따른 신축성 변화에 대한 상대평가를 사단계에서 유추할 수 있다. 권축효과가 높게 나타난다 하더라도, 사의 수축힘이 적으면 권축효과 발현특성에 큰 차이가 없으므로 열응력을 측정을 한 결과, 가연 연신비가 높고 가연 1st 히터온도가 높은 조건에서 열응력이 높게 나타남을 알 수 있었으며, 비교사에 비해 약간 높은 열응력 값을 보였다. 절단강도는 가연조건에 따라서 큰 변화가 없었고, 절단신도는 연신비가 증가함에 따라 점차 감소하였으며 비교사와도 큰 차이를 보이지 않았음. 따라서, POY 26d/6f 원사에 적합하고, 권축효과가 우수한 가연조건을 도출하였고, 가연현장 작업시 문제가 없는 가연 최적조건을 도출하였다. 향후, 가연조건에 따른 제조된 가연사를 이용하여 제직 및 염색가공 공정을 거친후, 직물신축성 평가를 실시할 계획이다.

공진단이 MCAO모델 흰쥐에서 gliosis 억제에 마치는 영향 (The Effect of Gongjin-dan on Gliosis in Middle Cerebral Artery Occlusion (MCAO) Rats)

  • Objectives : In conditions of brain infarction, irreversible axon damage occurs in the central nerve system (CNS), because gliosis becomes a physical and a mechanical barrier to axonal regeneration. Reactive gliosis induced by ischemic injury such as middle cerebral artery occlusion is involved with up-regulation of GFAP and CD81. This study was undertaken to examine the effect of the Gongjin-dan (GJD) on CD81 and GFAP expression and its pathway in the rat brain following middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). Methods : In order to study ischemic injuries on the brain, infarction was induced by MCAO using insertion of a single nylon thread, through the internal carotid artery, into a middle cerebral artery. Cresyl violet staining, cerebral infarction size measurement, immunohistochemistry and microscopic examination were used to detect the expression of CD81 and GFAP and the effect on the infarct size and pyramidal cell death in the brain of the rat with cerebral infarction induced by MCAO. Also, c-Fos and ERK expression were measured to investigate the signaling pathway after GJD administration in MCAO rats. Results : Measuring the size of cerebral infarction induced by MCAO in the rat after injection of GJD showed the size had decreased. GJD administration showed pyramidal cell death protection in the hippocampus in the MCAO rat. GJD administration decreased GF AP expression in the MCAO rat. GJD administration decreased CD81 expression in the MCAO rat. GJD administration induced up-regulation of c-FOS expression compared with MCAO. GJD administration induced down-regulation of ERK expression compared with MCAO. Conclusion : We observed that GJD could suppress the reactive gliosis, which disturbs the axonal regeneration in the brain of a rat with cerebral infarction after MCAO by controlling the expression of CD81 and GFAP. The effect may be modulated by the regulation of c-Fos and ERK. These results suggest that GJD can be a candidate to regenerate CNS injury.

진공청소기 분진을 모델로 한 고형오염의 세척성에 관한 연구 (Studies on the Detergency of Particulate Soil using Vacuum Cleaner Dirt as Model)

  • This Study has treated the effects of fiber, surfactants, temperature, surfactant concentration, pH, electrolyte, fatty acid contents and mechanical force on the removal of particulate soil from fabric, vacuum cleaner dirt was used as model particulate soil. The fabrics were soiled with mixture of vacuum cleaner dirt and fatty soil, and washed in Terg-O-tometer. The detergency was evaluated by measuring reflectance of a fabric before and after washing. The results were as follows. 1. The fiber type showed a different pattern of soil removal with surfactants. In general, particulate soil removal increased in the following order Acetate>PET. Nylon>Cotton. Particulate soil removal, which is affected by the surfactant type, increased in the following order NPE $(EO)_{10}\leqq$Soap>SLS>DBS>Tween 80. 2. The influence of temperature on the particulate soil removal was very complex because efficiency of removal was varied with surfactant and fiber types. The washing efficiency of NPE $(EO)_{10}$ was highest at around $40^{\circ}C\;and\;60^{\circ}C$ with cotton and PET but the washing efficiency of DBS was the highest at $60^{\circ}C$ with cotton, decreased monotonously with increasing temperature with PET 3. The detergency of particulate soil increased with increasing surfactant concentration at relatively low concentration and then levelled off above some optimum concentration. 4. The removal of particulate soil increased with increasing pH and mechanical force. 5. Effect of electrolyte on the particulate soil removal was depended on the concentration of the surfactant. At low concentration of surfactant, addition of electrolytes improved soil removal but above the some concentration no effect was observed. At high concentration of surfactant, Vie., $0.6\%$ , the maximum washing effect is reached without added electrolyte. These result indicate that added electrolyte only influence the adsorption of surfactant on the soil and fiber 6. Fatty acid content in the soil did not influence on particulate soil removal without regard to surfactants.

THE INFLUENCE OF SELECTED CHEMICAL TREATMENTS ON THE RUMINAL DEGRADATION AND SUBSEQUENT INTESTINAL DIGESTION OF CEREAL STRAW

  • An experiment was conducted with three ruminally and intestinally cannulated non-lactating cows of Finnish Ayrshire breed, to assess the ruminal degradation characteristics of oat (Avena sativa), rye (Secale cereale) and rice (Oryza sativa) straw by the nylon bag technique, and the subsequent post-ruminal degradation of their rumen-undegraded residues by using the mobile bag technique, respectively. The straw samples were untreated or treated with aqueous $NH_3$ or with urea solution in cold or hot water. The untreated straw samples were milled or chopped, and the treated straw samples were chopped. The constant values a, b, and c were computed according to the exponential equation, where a = intercept of degradation curve at time 0, b = potentially degradable material, c = rate of degradation of band (a+b) = maximum potential degradability (asymptote). It was found that nitrogen contents of chemically treated straw were markedly increased by both $NH_3$ and urea treatments. Milling the samples attributed to a remarkable loss at 0 h incubation time as compared to chopping of the respective samples. However, chemical treatment markedly improved the b value and the subsequent (a+b) values for dry matter, organic matter, neutral-detergent fiber, and acid-detergent fiber of the samples. Furthermore, temperature of the water used in the urea solutions was considered essential, since urea in hot water rather than in cold water seemed to enhance the overall degradability. The disappearance of rumen-incubated straw residues from the mobile bags ranged from 4.5 to 9.6% for the parameters measured. On average, the OM disappearance from bags was clearly higher for the residues of urea treated straw compared to those of ammonia treated straw, but the disappearance of NDF tended, however, to be higher on the ammonia treatment.

하계 동해의 해양폐기물 분포와 조성에 관한 연구 (Distribution and Composition of Floating Debris in the East Sea during the Summer Season)

  • Floating debris was observed using a training ship, KAYA, of Pukyong National University with cruising speed of about 10-12 knot during July 12~25, 2003. The area sampled was the East Sea enclosed by 3 nations, namely, Korea, Japan and Russia, and was divided into 68 unit segments on survey routes [Fig. 1]. Debris fabrication materials were categorized with 6 items, e.g., man-made or natural wood items, paper and cardboard, nylon rope, styrofoam, vinyl and plastic, floating metal and glass containers. All identified items within $100{\pm}10 m$ wide band were recorded but ignored if beyond this boundary. The results of this study are as follows: 1. The average numbers of debris per unit area, $1km^2$, were found as 16.3 pieces (items) in the sea. 2. The highest densities of numbers, $32.3pieces/km^2$, were discovered in vicinity of the Oki strait of Japan, area of 'NEK' in Fig. 1. 3. Especially, styrofoam item only was composed to 63.6% of all in the sea of 'SD', located in the southern part of Dokdo Island, Korea. The item seems to be derive from the Southern Sea of Korea. 4. Therefore, comparing the distribution of debris numbers (the results of above 2 and 3) with flow patterns of Kuroshio currents, it was shown that their relation was good agree each other. Further more surveys are being conducted and a much wider coverage can be achieved with other countries, then it can be obtained that the East Sea is polluted to some extent, where is the origin of debris, and the finding of floating routes and stationary sea.

Mass Loss and Changes of Nutrients during Decomposition of Phragmites communis at the Fringe of Stream

  • Mass loss and changes of mineral nutrients during decomposition of Phragmites communis for 13 months from November 1998 to December 1999, were investigated at the fringe of stream at Boryeong, Chungnam Province in Korea. Plant materials, which were collected in November 1998. were divided into leaves, culms and rhizomes. Litterbags, 15${\times}$15 cm, were made of nylon mesh with 2-mm$^2$ holes. At 13 months after installation, remaining mass of leaves, culms and rhizomes was 29.0%, 57.4%, 20.6%, respectively. Mass loss rate of the culms was significantly lower than those of the leaves and rhizomes. The decay rate of leaves, culms and rhizomes was 1.21. 0.42 and 1.48 per year, respectively. Initial concentration of N, P, K, Ca and Mg of leaves. culms and rhizomes was 22.5, 9.0, 15.5 mg/g for N, 0.34. 0.10, 0.33 mg/g for P, 15.0, 12.5. 12.3 mg/g for K, 2.84. 0.80, 0.03 mg/g for Ca. 1.94. 0.97, 0.40 mg/g for Mg, respectively. Concentrations of nutrients were higher in leaves than in culms and rhizomes. Except for N and Mg in rhizomes, there was no immobilization period during the decomposition. In the case of remaining K and Ca, most are lost during the first 3 months. Without any suitable method for removal of dead part, eutrophication of freshwater may be accelerated by dead macrophytes.

Colorfastness of Black-Colored Fabrics with Various Fibers

  • Black garments can lose color, image, and be the main cause of color staining when washed with other laundry that can cause color contamination from interaction with other garments. To know the fiber-based dye fastness for colored garments, 4-5 pieces of various fibers of different fabrics were selected; cotton, linen, wool, silk, rayon, acetate, polyester, and nylon. To determine the colorfastness to washing and crocking, the black fabrics were washed with alkali and neutral detergents under the Laund-O-Meter method under the Crockmeter method. In an alkali detergent laundering conditions, most colored samples did not undergo color or light fastness. However, most of the stained fabrics slightly changed in K/S values while other samples underwent severe changes. With neutral detergent laundering, sample fabrics underwent less shrinking, and had less naps. The stained fabrics also underwent less change in K/S values. With time-repeatedly-washing the original sample went through colorfastness to lose color. In crocking fastness, most samples produced good to excellent results under dry conditions but produced relatively low crocking fastness under wet conditions. Natural fibers especially showed lower crocking fastness than artificial fibers. In conclusion, garments of the same color should be laundered together. The black garments that are washed using neutral detergents can decrease the amount of damage from color change. While it is the responsibility of garment producers to provide appropriate quality indications they should also provide adequate instructions for consumers to understand and appropriately cope with the quality indications in order to contribute to establishing a correct laundering method.

Bodysuit의 패턴개발과 적합성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Pattern Development and Wear Fitness of the Bodysuit)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the pattern of bodysuit and to identify the wear fitness of it The methods of statistical analysis applied to the study were ANOVA and cluster analysis. The materials used in making bodysuit were Nylon/Polyurethane, lace, power net, binding tape, and hook eye. The try-on test was administered in two aspects ; (1) the comparison of anthropometric data before and after trying on the experimentally constructed bodysuit with those of marketing bodysuit, (2) the sensory evaluation to estimate the wear fitness in terms of appearance and motion function. The conclusions obtained are as follows ; 1. In the survey of wearing state, 52.2% of respondents had experience of wearing bodysuit. 60.6% of them responded to the item, “well-balanced body” in the question about the purpose of wearing it. 55.7% considered the item, “feel choky in the chest” as uncomfortable point in putting on bodysuit. 48.3% felt the portion of crotch drawn above in taking exercise or behaving routinely in everyday life. 2. As for the characteristics of the bodysuit design, the scooped neckline and horizontal outline without wire in lower bust was used, the adjust point being located right above the perineum point, and the length of bodysuit is as far as trochanteric point. 3. In comparing anthropometric data of the subjects, there was significant difference in the height of lower bust the distance around abdomen, and the length of bust point(right, left) between the experimentally constructed bodysuit and the marketing bodysuit. 4. Concerning the results of the try-on test in appearance, the estimates of expert panel, which were in agreement with those of subjects in mean value and composite reliability coefficient, showed that the pattern fitness of experimentally designed bodysuit was higher than that of marketing bodysuit. 5. To take try-on test in motion function, motion was classified the five steps. The results of the test showed that experimentally designed bodysuit was fitter in each steps of motion than marketing bodysuit.
