  • An automated flow injection analysis apparatus manufactured economically was used in the automatic measurement of E. col growth in shake-flask culture of nutrient broth. The detailed measurement of whole growth was possible at intervals of 10 minutes by the automatic measurement system which adopted the sterilized nutrient broth as a carrier solution. Using distilled water as a carrier solution showed less accurate results than nutrient broth.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the effects of oxidative stress on growth performance, nutrient digestibilities and activities of antioxidant enzymes of weanling pigs. In the experiment, 24 male $Landrance{\times}Yorkshire $weanling pigs were allotted to three groups of 8 animals each. Pigs were fed individually. According to a single factorial arrangement, pigs received diets with 5% of either fresh (group 1 and group 3) or oxidized fish oil (peroxide value was 786.50 meq $O_2/kg$ before inclusion in the diet, group 2). At the beginning of the experiment, pigs in group 3 received an intraperitoneal injection of diquat at 12 mg/kg of body weight. The trial lasted for 26 d. A metabolism test was carried out during the last 4 days of the second week. The results showed that feeding diets containing oxidized fish oil or injection with diquat depressed the growth performance and nutrient digestibilities of weanling pigs, decreased activities of antioxidant enzymes and increased concentration of malondialdehyde in plasma and liver. Intraperitoneal injection of diquat would induce more serious oxidative stress than oral intake of oxidized fish oil in the diet. In conclusion, administration of oxidized fish oil or diquat could induce oxidative stress in weanling pigs, and oxidative stress could depress growth performance and impact anti-oxidative ability of young pigs.

  • The green algae Scenedesmus acuminatus was cultured in different media: animal wastewater and an artificial culture medium in order to evaluate potential use for tertiary treatment. The experiments were conducted with air flowrate 1~2 L/min at $28{\sim}30^{\circ}C$. The nitrogen and phosphorus showed very similar removal efficiencies (68~77 % and 69~80 % for nitrogen and phosphorus respectively). The optimal fed period was estimated as three days in the semi-continuous experiment. The effects of $CO_2$ (4.5 %) injection on nutrient uptake from animal wastewater (biological treatment effluent) were compared to an air injection under the same conditions of light and photoperiod. The uptake rates of nutrient with air injection were observed 0.009 gN/gChl-a/day, 0.028 gN/gChl-a/day and T-P 0.003 gP/gChl-a/day for nitrate, total nitrogen and phosphorus respectively. The rates were enhanced by addition of $CO_2$ to 0.026 gN/gChl-a/day, 0.076 gN/gChl-a/day and T-P 0.018 gP/gChl-a/day. This study establishes that $CO_2$ addition during nutrient deprivation of microalgal cells may accelerate tertiary wastewater treatment.

  • It is fundamental to control individual condition of every seedling. Automatic individual control is used by data control and analysis at on-line. As a result the best condition system was build without all waste. This system uses one of new technology irrigation system. This irrigation system supply accurate quantity of nutrient solution in the shortest time. The system named the upward injection irrigation system. First of all it is necessary to be considered whether the soil is proper or improper for upward injection irrigation system. It is important that root absorb nutrient solution as fast as possible. The ability of spreading, storing water, contamination of environment and cost were considered when choose the medium. The soil of organic culture is developed recently. The soil consists of paper pulp and vermiculite. The new soil is more suitable than ordinary medium for growing plant because this medium is made of paper pulp. The ability of store and spread of water is it's feature. We can make paper tray of this paper pulp's raw material. It is possible that pulp tray replaced plastic tray. The original plug tray of growing seedling system can make which consist of pulp medium and pulp tray. In this study, it was examined whether the plug seedling of paper pulp medium grow with upward injection irrigation system in this seedling plant system. At the same time, examine ability of store and spread of water and how to grow plant on the paper pulp medium.

  • Bioventing efficiency was compared in a continuous and an intermittent(6hr injection and 6hr rest) air injection mode. Two lab-scale columns which packed with 5kg of soil artificially contaminated by diesel oil were operated. The columns were maintained at the $25^{\circ}C{\pm}2.5$ in order to minimize the effect of exterior temperature variation. The flow rate of air injection mode were maintained constantly at the flow rate of 10ml/min. The moisture of the columns was stably maintained at $60{\sim}80%$ of field capacity. The nutrient compounds were added to make C : N : P ratio as 100 : 10 : 1. The continuous and intermittent injection modes showed 67.56% and 69.63%reduction of initial TPH concentration during 90 days, respectively. The loss of diesel oil by volatilization in the continuous and intermittent injection modes were about 5% and 1%, respectively.

The continuous and intermittent injection modes showed 67.56% and 69.63% reduction of initial TPH concentration during 90 days, respectively. Two venting modes showed similar results in the analysis of the trends of the hydrocarbon utilizing bacterial counts for operating periods. The carbon dioxide production rate of the continuous injection mode was higher than that of intermittent injection mode. The loss of diesel oil by volatilization in the continuous and intermittent injection modes were about 5% and 1%, respectively. The lower volatilization loss in the intermittent injection mode suggested that the biodegradation of TPH in the intermittent injection mode was greater than that of the continuous mode. These results suggested that the intermittent injection mode is more efficient than the continuous venting mode.

  • This research was carried out to investigate the effect of zeranol injection on dry matter(DM) and nutrient intake requirement by growth stage of early castrated bull with 3 treatments(bul1, steer, steer+zeranol) with 28 Holstein bull at National Livestock Research Institute. The main results were as follows: DM intake at growing and fatting stage was the highest in steer groups, that the highest in bull groups at finishing stage and overall mean DM intake was 5% lower at steer+zeranol groups compared to bull and steer, respectively. Net energy intake at finishing stage was the highest as 35.49 Mcal at bull groups, while overall mean net energy intake was 101 - 109% of NRC requirement without significant difference. Concentrate intake to body weight was 1.68- 1.82, 1.91 -2.08 and 1.81 -2.05% at growing, fatting and finishing stage, respectively. Overall mean concentrate intake to body weight at steer groups was 1.94%, which is 1.8 and 1.81% higher compared to bull and steer+zeranol groups, respectively. Feed conversion ratio(DM) during overall period was the worst at steer groups as 9.321g, and also net energy conversion ratio was similar to DM conversion ratio.

  • Nowdays electrokinetic technique has been applied to supply nutrients and TEAs for in-situ bioremediation. However the Injection characteristics under electrical field have not been examined in various soil types. Therefore, The characteristics of electrokinetic injection into kaolinite and sand are investigated. During the 17 d of processing, There was a gradual increase in ammonium (nutrient) concentration from the anode compartment. However the ammonium concentration at the cathode increased beyond that at the anode in sand. A relatively constant profile of sulfate (TEA) was achieved specifically, the final sulfate concentration in each specimen were different. When EK injection technique is implemented in field, the most important consideration should be an assessment of the injection characteristics with respect to the soil types.

  • The elution of di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) from flexible bags into human blood or transfusion was studied. The conditions of determination of DEHP using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was established as follows: Condition I-column, ${\mu}-Bondapak^{TM}\;C_{18}$; mobile phase, methanol: water=91 : 9 ; flow rate, 1.2ml/min; wavelength, 254nm; injection volume, $10{\mu}l$. Condition II-column, Lichorsorb RP-18$(10{\mu}m)$; mobile phase, methanol: water=94 : 6 ; flow rate, 1.1ml/min; wavelength, 254nm; injection volume, $10{\mu}l$. DEHP was found to be migrating from PVC blood and total parentral nutrient bags into methanol, but not into anti, coagulant drug solution.
