This paper proposes a new method of weighted template matching for machine-printed numeral recognition. The proposed weighted template matching, which emphasizes the feature of a pattern using adaptive Hamming distance on local feature areas, improves the recognition rate while template matching processes an input image as one global feature. Template matching is vulnerable to random noises that generate ragged outlines of a pattern when it is binarized. This paper offers a method of chain code trimming in order to remove ragged outlines. The method corrects specific chain codes within the chain codes of the inner and the outer contour of a pattern. The experiment compares confusion matrices of both the template matching and the proposed weighted template matching with chain code trimming. The result shows that the proposed method improves fairly the recognition rate of the machine-printed numerals.

A fuzzy classifier which needs various analyses of features using genetic algorithms is proposed. The fuzzy classifier has a simple structure, which contains a classification part based on fuzzy logic theory and a rule generation ation padptu sing genetic algorithms. The rule generation part determines optimal fuzzy membership functions and inclusior~ or exclusion of each feature in fuzzy classification rules. We analyzed recognition rate of a specific object, then added finer features repetitively, if necessary, to the object which has large misclassification rate. And we introduce repetitive analyses method for the minimum size of string and population, and for the improvement of recognition rates. This classifier is applied to three examples of the classification of iris data, the discrimination of thyroid gland cancer cells and the recognition of confusing handwritten and printed numerals. In the recognition of confusing handwritten and printed numerals, each sample numeral is classified into one of the groups which are divided according to the sample structure. The fuzzy classifier proposed in this paper has recognition rates of 98. 67% for iris data, 98.25% for thyroid gland cancer cells and 96.3% for confusing handwritten and printed numeral!;.

Natural language processing is necessary in order to efficiently perform filtering tremendous information produced in information retrieval of world wide web. This paper suggested an algorithm for meaning of numerals in the text. The algorithm for meaning of numerals utilized context-free grammars with the chart parsing technique, interpreted affixes connected with the numerals and was designed to disambiguate their meanings systematically supported by the n-gram based words. And the algorithm was designed to use POS (part-of-speech) taggers, to automatically recognize restriction conditions of trigram words, and to gradually disambiguate the meaning of the numerals. This research performed experiment for the suggested system of the numeral interpretation. The result showed that the frequency-proportional method recognized the numerals with 86.3% accuracy and the condition-proportional method with 82.8% accuracy.

This paper was aimed to study the effects of Cobalt-60 gamma ray irradiation on Albino rat blood cells and the activity of enzymes were measured using blood cell auto analyzer (Cell-Dyn 900) and enzyme autoanalyzer (Gilford 3500) respectively. Cobalt-60 gamma rays those are grouped into 200R, 400R, 600R, 800R, 1,000R, 1,200R, 1,300R, 1,400R, 1,500R and 1,600R to the rats of male and female and measured the numeral varieties of blood corpuscles of the rats and the active varieties of enzyme of acid, alkaline phosphatase (ACP, ALP), lactic acid dehydrogenase (LDH), glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT) and glutamic pyruvic transaminase. (GPT) those came out after 1, 3, 5 or 7 days. The results are summarized as follows: 1. In both case of male and female, the numeral varieties of the erythrocytes, in the 200R group of irradiation showed the minimum value in the 3 days group and a tendency of increase in the 5 and 7 days groups, while the numeral varieties of the leucocytes in every groups of irradiation showed a tendency of a rapid decrease after a day. The numeral varieties of the blood platelet in both case of male and female didn't show generally any great change in a day and 3 days groups, but showed a rapid decreasing appearance after the 5 days. 2. In both case of male and female, the activities of ACP were on the decrease gradually after 3 days of the irradiation and the activities of ALP were on the decrease after 5 days. Similarly in both case of mate and female, the activities of LDH showed the decrease after 3 and 5 days, and the phenomenous of GOT showed an appearance of increase in a day, but decreased after 3 days. As for the GPT activities couldn't find any great change in the male rats in comparison with the control groups, but in the female rats a tendency of the increase in 600R, 800R, 1,000R groups after 3 days. 3. In the case of the irradiation of high quantity of ray more than 1,200R, all rats died after 4 days, and by the irradiation of 1,600R all rats died after 3 days, and it showed the sensitive response of a living body to the irradiation of high quantity.

In this paper, the thermoelastic interactions in a two-dimension porous body are studied. This problem is solved by using the Green and Lindsay (GL) generalized thermoelasticity model under fractional time derivative. The derived approaches are estimated. with numeral results which are applied to the porous mediums in simplifying geometrical. The bounding plane surface of the present half-space continuum is subjected to a pulse heat flux. We use the Laplace-Fourier transforms methods with the eigenvalues approach to solve the problem. The numerical solutions for the field functions are obtained numerically using the numerical Laplace inversion technique. The effects of the fractional parameter and the thermal relaxation times on the temperature field, the displacement field, the change in volume fraction field of voids distribution and the stress fields have been calculated and displayed graphically and the obtained results are discussed.

Several neural networks have been successfully used to classify complex patterns such as handwritten numerals or words. This paper describes the discrimination of totally unconstrained handwritten numerals using the proposed chaotic neural network (CNN) to improve the recognition rate. The recognition system in the paper consists of the preprocessing stage to extract features using Kirsch mask and the classification stage to recognize numerals using the CNN. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed network, we performed the recognition with unconstrained handwritten numeral database of Concordia university, Canada. Experimental results show that the CNN based recognizer performs higher recognition rate than other neural network-based methods reported using same database.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to report the effect of Korean medicine treatment on a cerebellar infarction patient suffering from vertigo, ataxia, and nausea. Methods: We treated the patient with herbal medicine (Cheonghunhwadam-tang), acupuncture, and physical therapy. Clinical symptoms were assessed with a numeral rating scale (NRS), the Dizziness Handicap Inventory (DHI), and Study Short Form-36 (SF-36). Results: After 24 days of treatment, the vertigo, ataxia, and nausea symptoms were all improved, and the NRS, DHI, and SF-36 scores showed improvement. Conclusion: This case shows that Korean medicine treatments were effective in alleviating the symptoms of cerebellar infarction.

Methods: We applied herbal medicine (Oryeong-san, Wiryeong-tang) and acupuncture to the patient. Clinical symptoms were assessed with a numeral rating scale (NRS). Results: After treatment, the nausea, vomiting and headache symptoms were improved, and the NRS score showed improvement. Conclusion: This case shows that Korean medicine treatments are effective in alleviating the symptoms of nausea, vomiting, and headache.

This study had a aim to present a detailed investigation of the difference between the preoccupied and occupied space in the apartment house. In this connection, this study was to analyse the space configuration of the residential space with and without furniture for 3LDK plan in the apartment housing by the comparative method. The space configuration analysis which represents results a numeral and graphical ways is based on the relation between the space and the social changes. The results of this study were as follows; There were a various width of change of the integration value which represented the space configure between the residential space with and without furniture according to the sample plans. It means that the residential space redefine by residence, though the architect design the perfect plan to be considered user.
