Digital library research has attracted much attention. While many research projects are funded by government agencies and national and international bodies, some are run by specific academic and research institutions and libraries. While some digital library projects, such as the ELINOR project in the UK, the first two phases of the eLib(Electronic Libraries) programme in the UK, and the first phase of the DLI(Digital Library Initiative) in the USA, are now over, a number of other projects are currently under-way in different parts of the world. Beginning with the definitions and characteristics of digital libraries proposed by various researchers, this paper provides brief accounts of some major digital library projects that are currently in progress, or are just completed, in different parts of the world. There follows a review of digital library research under 16 major headings. Literature for this review has been identified through a search on the LISA CD-ROM database and a Dialog search on library and information science databases, and the resulting output has been supplemented by a scan of the various issues of D-Lib Magazine and Ariadne, and the Web sites of various organizations and institutions engaged in digital library research. The review indicates that we have learned a lot through digital library research within a short span of time. However, a number of issues are yet to be resolved. The paper ends with an indication of the research issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the near future in order to bring the digital library from the researcher's laboratory to the real life environment.
This study was conducted to find out basic information on better customer satisfaction and service by examining and analyzing in what routes patients mostly have selected their dental medical organizations and how they have reacted to their dissatisfaction. The subject of study included the patients who have come to dental clinics and dental hospitals to be treated in Cheonan City, Chungnam and the researcher of this study used a survey and analyzed its gathered data using an SPSS(Statistical Package for the Social Science) WIN 11.5 Program. As analysis methods, frequency and percentage were calculated to figure out the general characteristics of its subject. In addition, a ${\chi}^2$(Chi-square) test was performed to figure out the factors that patients have selected their dental medical organizations and the following results were obtained. 1. The largest number of patients selected their dental medical organizations by hearsay and more female and married patients selected them by hearsay than other patients, and there were significant differences(p<.05). 2. The dental patients put the priority on treatment techniques in their visiting hospitals and the patients who were more than 40 years old and married patients put more emphasis on treatment techniques in their visiting hospitals than other patients and there were significant differences(p<.05). 3. The said dental patients were not satisfied with the kindness of medical staffs in their visiting medical organizations; meanwhile, the patients who were aged below 30 and had an academic background of more than university degree and were unmarried were less satisfied with the kindness of medical staffs in their visiting medical organizations than other patients and there were significant differences(p<.05). 4. In terms of improvement methods or complaints, the largest number of them said that they just ignored and endured; meanwhile, the patients who were aged below 30 and had an education of more than university degree and were unmarried were more patient of improvement methods or complaints than other patients and there were significant differences(p<.05). 5. There were more patients who have introduced their visiting medical organizations to their neighboring people than the patients who have not done it; in the meantime, the patients who were aged over 40 and were married have introduced their visiting medical organizations to their neighboring people more than other patients(p<.05).

As number of making 3D feature animation films is increasing, 3D production pipeline become more complicated and more artists are needed than before. Major studios in foreign countries, in burden of producing high quality films with limited amount of budget and time, have been handling such difficulties by hiring technical directors in each department such as animation, rigging, cloth hair, and effect. Technical director is new occupation which appears after trend of producing animation is changed from 2D to 3D. Importance of technical director is increasing in respect to studios' needs which are related to complication in production time, manpower, budget, and production pipeline. This research is based on the researcher's work experience as an animation TD at Walt Diseny Animation Studio and Sony Pictures Imageworks, interview with working professionals, and related books and thesis. It focuses on the role of animation technical director in Disney's 3D feature animation film from two perspectives, 'Designing Production Pipeline' and 'Analyzing Problem of Shot'. Animation technical directors design and test production pipeline so that they can detect and solve problems that may arise in production process as early as possible. They not only analyze numerous problems of characters or shots limited to animation department but also in other departments such as modeling, mapping, character rigging, cloth, hair, lighting, rendering, software development in order to support artists to complete their shots according to the production schedule. In accordance with recent trend of increasing number of 3D feature animation film production in South Korea and collaboration with foreign studios outside of South Korea, it is vital to train animation technical directors who can develop production pipeline, analyze various problems of shots and characters to escalate efficiency in production.

In this study, the effects of the leakage flow between the baffle and tube bundles on the performance of a shell and tube heat exchanger (STHE) were examined using the commercial software ANSYS FLUENT v.14. A computational fluid dynamics model was developed for a small STHE with five different cases for the ratio of the leakage cross-sectional area to the baffle cross-sectional area, ranging from 0 to 40%, in order to determine the optimum leakage flow corresponding to the maximum outlet temperature. Using fixed tube wall and inlet temperatures for the shell side of the STHE, the flow and temperature fields were calculated by increasing the Reynolds number from 4952 to 14858. The present results showed that the outlet temperature, pressure drop, and heat transfer coefficient were strongly affected by the leakage flow, as well as the Reynolds number. In contrast with a previous researcher's finding that the leakage flow led to simultaneous decreases in the pressure drop and heat transfer rate, the present study found that the pertinent leakage flow provided momentum in the recirculation zone near the baffle plate and thus led to the maximum outlet temperature, a small pressure drop, and the highest heat transfer rate. The optimum leakage flow was shown in the case with a ratio of 20% among the five different cases.

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the changes of evaluation standards have affected Korean medical researchers' academic performance by comparing the publication status of medical articles both domestically and abroad. A total of 314,559 domestic articles in KMbase and 53,423 articles stored in MEDLINE published abroad by Korean researchers were analyzed. All of the data were compared per year according to the research field and indexed journals by numbers and proportions of articles published domestically and abroad. The analysis showed that the number of total articles and the proportion of articles published abroad increased continuously. In the early 2000s, articles published in Korea decreased, otherwise articles published abroad increased sharply. SCI articles showed a steady increase before 2000, and continued to increase over the next few years. KCI articles also showed a rapid increase in the early 2000s while other articles were decreasing. Publication trends shown in this study were similar despite quantitative and timely differences by research area. Performance evaluations focusing on SCI articles affected on quantitative decrease in the number of total articles published domestically. Quantitative growth itself is not an absolute indicator for academic achievement. Therefore, to complement any evaluation of academic achievement, qualitative analysis needs to be done as well.

Research in various academic fields using network analysis techniques has been conducted and grown. This study performed bibliographical analysis and content analysis on a total of 2,187 network analysis papers published in journals from 2003 to 2021. The results showed that the fields of Pedagogy, Interdisciplinary Research, Computer Science, Library and Information Science, Public Administration, and Business Administration were higher in terms of the number of research papers. From the perspective of journal, mega-journals were indicated as the most productive journals. However, when looking at the impact based on the number of citations, the strength of Public Administration, Library and Information Science, and Pedagogy is clearly revealed. The results of the analysis by authors can also confirm the higher impact of Journalism, Public Administration Science, and Library and Information Science. Of the 1,537 authors identified, very few authors are active in research, confirming the need to expand the researcher base. The results of content analysis showed that the weighted and non-directional network was the most common network type with using the research papers as a data set. Generally nodes are expressed as words and links are expressed as relationship. For network analysis, the use of KrKwic, UCINET, NetMiner, and NetDraw is the most prominent.
Response surface methodology(RSM) is a very useful statistical techniques for improving and optimizing the product process. By this reason, RSM has been utilized extensively in the industrial world, particularly in the circumstances where several product variables potentially influence some quality characteristic of the product. In order to estimate the optimal condition of product variables, an experiment is being conducted defining appropriate experimental region. However, this experimental region can vary with the experimental circumstances and choice of a researcher. Response surface designs can be classified, according to the shape of the experimental region, into spherical and cuboidal. In the spherical case, the design is either rotatable or very near-rotatable. The central composite design(CCD)s widely used in RSM is an example of 5-level and spherical design. The cuboidal CCDs(CCDs with ${\alpha}=1$) is appropriate when an experimental region is cuboidal but this design dose not satisfy the rotatability as it is not spherical. Practically, a 3-level spherical design is often required in the industrial world where various level of experiments are not available. Box-Behnken design(BBD)s are a most popular 3-level spherical designs for fitting second-order response surfaces and satisfy the rotatability but the experimental region does not vary with the number of variables. The new experimental design with expanded experimental region can be considered if the predicting response at the extremes are interested. This paper proposes a new 3-level spherical RSM which are constructed to expand the experimental region together with number of product variables.

An event-based, kinematic, infiltration-excess, and distributed rainfall-runoff model using weather radar and Geographic Information System(GIS) was developed to acknowledge and account lot the spatial variability and uncertainty of several parameters relevant to storm surface runoff and surface flow The developed model is compatible with raster GIS and spatially and temporally varied rainfall data. To calibrate the model, Monte Carlo simulation and a likelihood measure are utilized; allowing for a range of possible system responses from the calibrated model. Using rain gauge adjusted radar-rainfall estimates, the developed model was applied and evaluated to a limited number of historical events for the Ralston Creek and Goldsmith Gulch basins within the Denver Urban Drainage and Flood Control District (UDFCD) that contain mixed land use classifications. While based on a limited number of Monte Carlo simulations and considered flood events, Nash and Sutcliffe efficiency score ranges of -0.19∼0.95 / -0.75∼0.81 were obtained from the calibrated models for the Ralston Creek and Goldsmith Gulch basins, based on a comparison of observed and simulated hydrographs. For the Ralston Creek and Goldsmith Gulch basins, Nash and Sutcliffe efficiency scores of 0.88/0.10, 0.14/0.71, and 0.99/0.95 for runoff volume, peak discharge, and time to peak, respectively, were obtained from the model.
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the research trends of Ophthalmic Optic by targeting the papers published in the Journal of Korean Ophthalmic Optics Society and serve it as a basis for future researches. Methods: This study was conducted through a statistical analysis of the general characteristics, researcher characteristics, research characteristics and the research trends from total 990 papers, from the first issue to the last issue in 2014, published in the Journal of Korean Ophthalmic Optics Society. Results: Most common number of the authors of the published papers were two or three, respectively 26.8%. Most of the lead authors belong to the schools in Jeolla-do province (31.3%). Most of the educational system of which lead authors belong to is four-year-course system (43.0%). Most common research methods were optometric tests (40.9%). The most common subjects of researches are about the field of optometry (29.8%). The study shows that there were significant differences in the research methods depending on the school systems of the universities to which the lead authors belong (p=0.000). There also were significant differences in the school systems of the universities to which the lead authors belong, and research methods depending on the research subjects (p=0.000). There were meaningful differences according to the period divisions (1996 to 2004 and 2005 to 2014), i.e. the number of authors has been growing, and it is the same case for the number of the authors who belong to four-year-course universities (p=0.000). The number of papers on optometry and contact lenses have increase. The benefits of the research funds have also increased (p<0.005). In addition, the number of the lead authors in the Seoul and Chungcheong province have increased (p=0.000). Conclusions: For the development of the Ophthalmic Optics, it is necessary to broaden the stratum of researchers and deal with various research topics, And joint efforts between eyewear industry and academia and international cooperations are needed.
