In this study, we perform land surface monitoring of NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) variation by using remote sensing data during 1999-2005 over North Korea, which can't easily access to measure directly land surface characteristics due to one of the world's most closed societies. North Korea forest region has most abundant forest vegetation - so called Lungs of Korea in the Korea peninsula. NDVI represents vegetation activity used in many similar studies. In this study, we detect vegetation variation and analysis factors of the change over North Korea. By using variation of NDVI, we can infer that effect of drought over North Korea, and reduced vegetation indices by typhoon in North Korea. Land surface type except barren ground with decreased NDVI value is considered as when North Korea region was suffering from drought and typhoon effects, which show lower than mean of 7-year NDVI value. Especially, in recently, the food production of North Korea with political and economical issues can be inferred indirectly these trends by using estimated output data from this study.
Recently, many games provide data related to the users' game play, and there have been a few studies that predict opponent move by combining machine learning methods. This study predicts opponent move using match data of a real-time strategy game named ClashRoyale and a multi-label classification based on machine learning. In the initial experiment, binary card properties, binary card coordinates, and normalized time information are input, and card type and card coordinates are predicted using random forest and multi-layer perceptron. Subsequently, experiments were conducted sequentially using the next three data preprocessing methods. First, some property information of the input data were transformed. Next, input data were converted to nested form considering the consecutive card input system. Finally, input data were predicted by dividing into the early and the latter according to the normalized time information. As a result, the best preprocessing step was shown about 2.6% improvement in card type and about 1.8% improvement in card coordinates when nested data divided into the early.

The main purpose of this study was to classify forest vegetation effectively using Landsat Thematic Mapper data(June, 1994) in mountainous region. The research area was the Mt. Wolak Experimental Forest of Chungbuk National University, near Chungju and Jecheon city, Chungcheongbuk-do. To classify forest vegetation effectively, Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI) was used to reduce topographic effects. This NDVI was modified and transformed to the value of 0 to 255, and then the modified values were combined with other Landsat Thematic Mapper bands. To classify forest and land cover types, unsupervised classification method was used. The results of this study are summarized as follows. 1. Combinations of band "3, 5, NDVI" in Landsat Thematic Mapper data showed a good separation with high accuracy. The expected classification accuracy was 95.1% in Landsat Thematic Mapper data. 2. The Land Cover types were classified into six groups : coniferous forest, deciduous forest, mixed forest, paddy and grass, non-forest, and other undetectable areas. As these classified results were compared with the reconnaissance survey and aerial black and white infrared photographs, the overall classification accuracy was 76.5% in Landsat Thematic Mapper data. 3. The portion of non-forest in Mt. Wolak area was 1.9%. The percentages of coniferous, deciduous and mixed forests were 30.9%, 35.7% and 26.4%, respectively. 4. As these classified results were compared with other reference data, the percentages of coniferous, deciduous and mixed forests increased, but the portion of non-forest was exceedingly diminished. These differences are thought to be from the different research method and the different season of received Landsat Thematic Mapper data.

The rapid growth of aerial survey and remote sensing technology has enabled the rapid acquisition of very large amounts of geographic data, which should be analyzed using real-time visualization technology. The level of detail(LOD) algorithm is one of the most important elements for realizing real-time visualization. We chose the triangulated irregular network (TIN) method to generate normalized digital elevation model(DEM) data. First, we generated TIN data using contour lines obtained from a two-dimensional(2D) digital map and created a 2D grid array fitting the size of the area. Then, we generated normalized DEM data by calculating the intersection points between the TIN data and the points on the 2D grid array. We used constrained Delaunay triangulation(CDT) and ray-triangle intersection algorithms to calculate the intersection points between the TIN data and the points on the 2D grid array in each step. In addition, we simulated a three-dimensional(3D) terrain model based on normalized DEM data with real-time visualization using a Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 program in the DirectX API library and a quad-tree LOD algorithm.

In this paper, the resonant inverter of SEPP-LCC type is proposed and described the operating principle. As adding t two capacitors in the switching devices in parallel. the proposed inverter can reduce switching losses. noise and voltage s stress at Turn-on and Turn-off. The analysis of the proposed circuit are described by using the normalized parameters. The data of design are got by the characteristic values and an example of the design's method is proposed. In addition. t the justification of theoretical analysis is verified by comparing to the experimental waveforms.
In this study, the temporal and spatial variation in precipitable water vapor (PWV) was analyzed for typhoon Ewiniar which had made landfall in the Korean peninsula in 2006. To make a contour map of PWV, zenith total delay (ZTD) was calculated using about 60 GPS permanent stations in Korea, and the pressure and temperature data of nearby AWS stations were interpolated and applied to the equation for calculating the PWV. While Typhoon Ewiniar was migrating north from the southern coast to the eastern coast of Korea, the PWV migrated showing a spatial distribution similar to that of rainfall. Also, the fluctuating pattern of the normalized PWV was analyzed, and the moving speed of the PWV was estimated using the delay time of the increase/decrease pattern in the eight-test stations. The result indicated that the moving speed of the PWV was about 35 km/h, which was similar to the average moving speed of the typhoon (38.9 km/h).

In this paper, we propose a rotation resistant robust logo embedding watermarking technique. Geometric manipulations make the detection process very complex and difficult. Watermark embedding in the normalized image directly suffers from smoothing effect due to the interpolation during the image normalization. This can be avoided by estimating the transform parameters using image normalization angle and moments, instead of embedding in the normalized image. Conventional rotation resistant schemes that use full frame transform. In this paper we adopt DCT and calculate masking using a spatio-frequency localization of the $8{\times}8$ block DCT coefficients. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is robust against rotation process.

A useful method to detect tool breakage suing neural network of cutting force signal is porposed and implemented in a basic cutting process. Cutting signal is gathered by tool dynamometer and normalized as a preprocessing. The cutting force signal level is continually monitored and compared with the predefined level. The neural network has been trained normalized sample data of the normal operation and cata-strophic tool failure using backpropagation learning process. The develop[ed system is verified to be very effective in real-time usage with minor modification in conventional cutting processes.

A constant flow-rate control valve provides effective distributions and controls of running water in a pipe system. The noise characteristics were measured to reveal the noise sources depending on pressure differences across a valve. Valve noise is mostly dominated by bubble dynamics under cavitating conditions. In this study, the sound powers from a flow control valve of constant flow rates are effectively normalized. Flow-excited dynamic systems for which there is no strong coupling between the flow and the system response can be described using a linear source-filter model. On this assumption, the normalized sound powers can be decomposed of noise source function and a response function. The source spectra in, terms of cavitation frequency show cavitation events occurring at narrow banded frequencies greater than 10 kHz. There also possibly exist two kinds of cavitating modes based on our experimental data.

A novel concept for the analysis of planar devices with a field limiting ring(FLR) is presented which allows analytic expressions in a normalized form for the potential distributions of FLR structure. Based on the method of image charges the main and ring junctions with identical cylindrical edges are kept to be two different equipotential surfaces. The potential relations between main and ring junction of the FLR structure are compared with 2-dimensional device simulation program. MEDICI. A good accordance is found. Comparisions with experimental data reported for the optimum ring spacing and the relative improvement of the breakdowm voltages in the FLR sturcture show the validity of the concept. The normalized expressions allow a universal application regardless to the junction depths and background doping levels.
