Data communications at sea are done by the traditional radio and satellite carriers. Because of the restrictions on the data rate and cost of the carriers, a novel data communication system at sea is needed. Nowadays the efforts to make use of the broadband land carriers at sea have been pursued. This paper proposes a routing scheme (NTCR) using the various carriers on land for a MANET model at sea. The NTCR scheme optimizes the route using a chosen carrier by taking considerations of normalized transmission characteristics (NTC) of applications and carriers. The NTCR scheme is compared with the MWR (max-win based routing) scheme.

This paper deals with the variability analysis of short term creep rupture test data based on the previous creep rupture tests and the possibility of the creep life prediction. From creep tests performed by constant uniaxial stresses at 600, 650 and $700^{\circ}C$ elevated temperature, in order to investigate the variability of short-term creep rupture data, the creep curves were analyzed for normalized creep strain divided by initial strain. There are some variability in the creep rupture data. And, the difference between general creep curves and normalized creep curves were obtained. The effects of the creep rupture time (RT) and steady state creep rate (SSCR) on the Weibull distribution parameters were investigated. There were good relation between normal Weibull parameters and normalized Weibull parameters. Finally, the predicted creep life were compared with the Monkman-Grant model.
A data stream is a massive unbounded sequence of data elements continuously generated at a rapid rate. The continuous characteristic of streaming data necessitates the use of algorithms that require only one scan over the stream for knowledge discovery. Data mining over data streams should support the flexible trade-off between processing time and mining accuracy. In many application areas, mining frequent itemsets has been suggested to find important frequent itemsets by considering the weight of itemsets. In this paper, we present an efficient algorithm WSFI (Weighted Support Frequent Itemsets)-Mine with normalized weight over data streams. Moreover, we propose a novel tree structure, called the Weighted Support FP-Tree (WSFP-Tree), that stores compressed crucial information about frequent itemsets. Empirical results show that our algorithm outperforms comparative algorithms under the windowed streaming model.
The identification of multiple bad data, especially when mutually interacting, may be difficult to handle, since the well known procedures based on the normalized or weighted residuals may become faulty. In such a case, successive elimination of the measurement with the largest normalized residual may result in the suppression of correct measurements instead of the bad data. Then the problem of identifying bad data is considered as a combinatorial decision procedure. In this paper, binary PSO is used for the identification of multiple bad data in the power system state estimation. The proposed binary PSO based procedures behave satisfactorily in the identifying multiple bad data. The test is carried out with reference to the IEEE-14 bus system.
Groundwater recharge rates vary widely by location and with time. They are difficult to measure directly and are thus often estimated using simulations. This study employed frequency and regression analysis and a classification and regression tree (CART) algorithm in a machine learning method to estimate groundwater recharge. CART algorithms are considered for the distribution of precipitation by subbasin (PCP), geomorphological data, indices of the relationship between vegetation and landuse, and soil type. The considered geomorphological data were digital elevaion model (DEM), surface slope (SLOP), surface aspect (ASPT), and indices were the perpendicular vegetation index (PVI), normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), normalized difference tillage index (NDTI), normalized difference residue index (NDRI). The spatio-temperal distribution of groundwater recharge in the SWAT-MOD-FLOW program, was classified as group 4, run in R, sampled for random and a model trained its groundwater recharge was predicted by CART condidering modified PVI, NDVI, NDTI, NDRI, PCP, and geomorphological data. To assess inter-rater reliability for group 4 groundwater recharge, the Kappa coefficient and overall accuracy and confusion matrix using K-fold cross-validation were calculated. The model obtained a Kappa coefficient of 0.3-0.6 and an overall accuracy of 0.5-0.7, indicating that the proposed model for estimating groundwater recharge with respect to soil type and vegetation cover is quite reliable.
Kim (2001a) presented a modification of the Shapiro and Wilk (1972) test for exponentiality based on the ratio of two asymptotically efficient estimates of scale. In this paper we modify this test statistic when the sample is censored. We use the normalized spacings based on the sample data, which was used in Samanta and Schwarz (1988) to modify the Shapiro and Wilk (1972) statistic to the censored data. As a result the modified statistics have the same null distribution as the uncensored case with a corresponding reduction in sample size. Through a simulation study it is found that the proposed statistic has higher power than Samanta and Schwarz (1988) statistic especially for the alternatives with the coefficient of variation greater than or equal to 1.
The purpose of this study is to estimate evapotranspiration and its spatial distribution using NOAA-AVHRR data. Evapotranspiration phenomena are exceedingly complex. But, factors which control evapotranspiration can be considered that these are reflected by conditions of the vegetation. To evaluate the vegetation condition as a fixed quantity, the NDVI(Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) calculated from NOAA data is utilized. In this study, land cover classification of the Korean peninsula using property of NDVI is performed. Also, from the relationship between evapotranspiration and NDVI histograms, evapotranspiration and its distribution of the Han River basin are estimated.
With the increasing severity of climate change, intense torrential rains are occurring more frequently globally. Flooding due to torrential rain not only causes substantial damage directly, but also via secondary events such as landslides. Therefore, accurate and prompt flood detection is required. Because it is difficult to directly access flooded areas, previous studies have largely used satellite images. Traditionally, water indices such asthe normalized difference water index (NDWI) and modified normalized difference water index (MNDWI) which are based on different optical bands acquired by satellites, are used to detect floods. In addition, as flooding likelihood is greatly influenced by the weather, synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images have also been used, because these are less influenced by weather conditions. In this study, we compared flood areas calculated from SAR images and water indices derived from Landsat-8 images, where the images were acquired at similar times. The flooded area was calculated from Landsat-8 and Sentinel-1 images taken between the end of May and August 2019 at Lijiazhou Island, China, which is located in the Changjiang (Yangtze) River basin and experiences annual floods. As a result, the flooded area calculated using the MNDWI was approximately 21% larger on average than that calculated using the NDWI. In a comparison of flood areas calculated using water indices and SAR intensity images, the flood areas calculated using SAR images tended to be smaller, regardless of the order in which the images were acquired. Because the images were acquired by the two satellites on different dates, we could not directly compare the accuracy of the water-index and SAR data. Nevertheless, this study demonstrates that floods can be detected using both optical and SAR satellite data.
Recently, accurate prediction of power consumption based on machine learning techniques in Internet of Energy (IoE) has been actively studied using the large amount of electricity data acquired from advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). In this paper, we propose a deep learning model based on Gated Recurrent Unit (GRU) as an artificial intelligence (AI) network that can effectively perform pattern recognition of time series data such as the power consumption, and analyze performance of the prediction based on real household power usage data. In the performance analysis, performance comparison between the proposed GRU-based learning model and the conventional learning model of Long Short Term Memory (LSTM) is described. In the simulation results, mean squared error (MSE), mean absolute error (MAE), forecast skill score, normalized root mean square error (RMSE), and normalized mean bias error (NMBE) are used as performance evaluation indexes, and we confirm that the performance of the prediction of the proposed GRU-based learning model is greatly improved.
It is necessary to understand the amount of snowfall and area of snow cover of Mt. Halla to ensure the safety of mountaineers and to protect the ecosystem of Mt. Halla against climate change. However, there are not enough related studies and observation posts for monitoring snow load. Therefore, to supplement the insufficient data, this study proposes an analysis of snow load and snow cover using normalized-difference snow index. Using the images obtained from the Sentinel2 satellite, the normalized-difference snow index image of Mt. Halla could be acquired. This was examined together with the meteorological data obtained from the existing observatory to analyze the change in snow cover for the years 2020 and 2021. The normalized-difference snow index images showed a smaller snow pixel number in 2021 than that in 2020. This study concluded that 2021 may have been warmer than 2020. In the future, it will be necessary to continuously monitor the amount of snow and the snow-covered area of Mt. Halla using the normalized-difference snow index image analysis method.
