As the lack of specific aggregation intensifies, the development of alternative resources is urgent. Construction waste is increasing every year, but recycled aggregate is used as a low value added material. Various studies are currently underway at the national level. In this paper, the mechanical performance of the concrete according to the concrete mixing method and the replacement amount of the circulating coarse aggregate was compared and evaluated. Concrete mixing method was normal mixing approach(NMA) method, two-stage mixing approach1 (TSMA1) method, two-stage mixing approach2 (TSMA2) method. Fresh concrete was tested for air content, slump test, and unit volume weight. Compressive strength and flexural strength were tested in hardened concrete. According to the TSMA method, the mechanical performance difference of concrete is shown, and the strength is decreased according to the circulating coarse aggregate replacement amount.

Concrete is considered to be one of the excellent and versatile shielding material and is widely used for the radiation shielding material. Specially, heavyweight(or high density) concrete is used in counter weights of bascule and lift bridges, but it is generally used in radiation shielding structures and differ from normal weight concrete by having a higher density and special compositions to improve its attenuation properties. Thorough examination and evaluation of heavyweight aggregate sources are necessary to obtain material suitable for the type of shielding required. Therefore, this paper aims to study mechanical properties of heavyweight concrete by using normal cement, natural and heavyweight aggregate.
The objective of this study was to experimentally investigate the bond-related tension stiffening behavior of flexural reinforced concrete (RC) beams made with lightweight aggregate concrete (LWAC) under various high-cycle fatigue loading conditions. Based on strain measurements of tensile steel in the RC beams, fatigue-induced degradation of tension stiffening effects was evaluated and was, compared to reinforced normal weight concrete (NWC) beams with equal concrete compressive strengths (40 MPa). According to applied load-mean steel strain relationships, the mean steel strain that developed under loading cycles was divided into elastic and plastic strain components. The experimental results showed that, in the high-cycle fatigue regime, the tension stiffening behavior of LWAC beams was different from that of NWC beams; LWAC beams had a lesser reduction in tension stiffening due to a better bond between steel and concrete. This was reflected in the stability of the elastic mean steel strains and in the higher degree of local plasticity that developed at the primary flexural cracks.
The normal cement concrete is widely used material to build the construction recently, but it has a fault to increase the dead load on account of its unit weight is large compared with strength. Therefore, many engineers are continuously searching for new materials of construction to provide greater performance at lower density. The main purpose of the work described in this paper were to establish the physical and mechanical properties of synthetic lightweight aggregate concrete using perlite on fine aggregate and expanded clay, pumice stone on coarse aggregate. The test results of this study are summarized that the water-cement ratio was shown 47% using expanded clay, 56% using pumice stone on coarse aggregate, unit weight was shown $l,622kgf/m^3$ using expanded clay, $l,596kgf/m^3$ using pumice stone on coarse aggregate, and the absorption ratio was shown same as 17%. The compressive strength was shown more than $228kgf/cm^2$, tensile and bending strength was more than $27kgf/cm^2$, $58kgf/cm^2$ at all types, and rebound number with schmidt hammer was increased with increase of compressive strength. The static modulus was $1.12{\times}10^5kgf/cm^2$ using expanded clay, $1.09{\times}10^5kgf/cm^2$ using pumice stone on coarse aggregate, and stress-strain curves were shown that increased with increase of stress, and the strain on the maximum stress was shown identical with $2.0{\times}10^{-3}$, approximately.
The current study prepared 9 laboratorial concrete mixes and 3 ready-mixed concrete batches to examine the size and shape effects in compression failure of lightweight aggregate concrete (LWC). The concrete mixes were classified into three groups: normal-weight, all-lightweight and sand-lightweight concrete groups. For each concrete mix, the aspect ratio of circular or square specimens was 1.0 and 2.0. The lateral dimension of specimens varied between 50 and 150 mm for each laboratorial concrete mix, whereas it ranged from 50 to 400 mm with an incremental variation of 50 mm for each ready-mixed concrete batch. Test observations revealed that the crack propagation and width of the localized failure zone developed in lightweight concrete specimens were considerably different than those of normal-weight concrete (NWC). In LWC specimens, the cracks mainly passed through the coarse aggregate particles and the crack distribution performance was very poor. As a result, a stronger size effect was developed in LWC than in NWC. Especially, this trend was more notable in specimens with aspect ratio of 2.0 than in specimens with that of 1.0. The prediction model derived by Kim et al. overestimated the size effect of LWC when lateral dimension of specimen is above 150 mm. On the other hand, the modification factors specified in ASTM and CEB-FIP provisions, which are used to compensate for the shape effect of specimen on compressive strength, were still conservative in LWC.
Basic properties of artificial lightweight aggregate by using waste dusts and strength properties of LWA concrete were studied. Bulk specific gravity and water absorption of artificial lightweight aggregates varied from 1.4 to 1.7 and 13 to 16%, respectively. Crushing ratio of artificial lightweight aggregate was above 10% higher than that of crushed stone or gravel. As a result of TCLP leaching test, the leaching amount of tested heavy metal element was below the leaching standard of hazardous material. Slump, compressive strength and stress-strain properties of LWA concrete made of artificial lightweight aggregate were tested. Concrete samples derived from LWA substitution ratio of 30 vol% and W/C ratio of 45 wt% showed the best properties overall. Thermal insulation and sound insulation characteristics of light weight concrete panel with the optimum concrete proportion were tested. Average overall heat transmission of 3.293W/㎡$^{\circ}C$ was observed. It was higher by about 15% than those of normal concrete made by crushed stone. Sound transmission loss of 50.9 ㏈ in frequency of 500 ㎐ was observed. It was higher by about 13% than standard transmission loss.

This study was performed to evaluate the physical and mechanical properties of surlightweight polymer concrete using synthetic lightweight aggregate. The following conclusions were drawn; 1. Unit weight was in the range of $810~970kgf/m^3$, the unit weights of those concrete were decreased 58~65% than that of the normal cement concrete. 2. The highest strength was achieved by $P_1$, it was increased 112% by compressive strength, 378% by bending strength and 290% by tensile strength than that of the normal cement concrete, respectively. 3. Ultrasonic pulse velocity was in the range of 2,206~2,595m/s, which was low showed compared to that of the normal cement concrete. 4. Durability of surlightweight polymer concrete was superior to that of the normal cement concrete. 5. Compressive, tensile and bending strength were largely showed with the increase of unit weight. But, ultrasonic pulse velocity was low showed with the increase of unit weight.
Aleurone layers of normal and vp1 mutant maize kernels were extracted and centrifuged at 100,000g to yield a cytosol fraction. Binding of [3H]ABA cis, trans (+)ABA to a soluble macromolecular components present in the cytosol was demonstrated by Sephadex chromatography and non-denaturing PAGE. The binding component was of high molecular weight and seems to be an aggregate of proteins. A rapid DEAE-cellulose filter method for assaying bound [3H]ABA to a soluble protein was adapted. Binding assays were performed with cytosol that had been preheated or incubated with several enzymes, indicating that heat and protease treatments disrupted the binding. This suggested that binding occurred to proteins. Some properties of the ABA binding proteins were described. The [3H]ABA binding were reduced dramatically when unlabeled ABA was added as a competitor, suggesting a specific binding of [3H]ABA. Gel filtration profiles and autoradiogram of [3H]ABA binding showed no difference in the binding components of Vp1 and vp1/vp1 mutant cytosol, indicating that Vp1 protein is not a sole ABA binding protein.

Recycling of waste materials in the construction Industry is a useful method that can cope with an environment restriction of every country. In this study, synthetic lightweight aggregates are manufactured with recycled plastic and fly ash with 12 percent carbon. Nominal maximum-size aggregates of 9.5 mm were produced with fly ash contents of 0, 35, and $80\%$ by the total mass of the aggregate. An expanded clay lightweight aggregate and a normal-weight aggregate were used as comparison. Gradation, density, and absorption capacity are reported for the aggregates. Five batches of concrete were made with the different coarse aggregate types. Mechanical properties of the concrete were determined including density, compressive strength, elastic modulus, splitting tensile strength, fracture toughness, and fracture energy. Salt-scaling resistance, a concrete durability property, was also examined. Compressive and tensile strengths were lower for the synthetic aggregates; however, comparable fracture properties were obtained. Relatively low compressive modulus of elasticity was found for concretes with the synthetic lightweight aggregate, although high ductility was also obtained. As nv ash content of the synthetic lightweight aggregate increased, all properties of the concrete were improved. Excellent salt-scaling resistance was obtained with the synthetic lightweight aggregate containing 80 percent fly ash.

In winter, the excessive use of deicing salt deteriorates concrete pavement durability. To reduce the amount of deicing salt used, phase-change materials (PCMs) potentially offer an alternative way to melt snow through their latent heat storage characteristics. In this research, thermal energy storage concrete was developed by using PCM-impregnated expanded clay as 50 % replacement to normal aggregate by volume. In addition, to improve the thermal efficiency of PCM lightweight aggregate (PCM-LWA)-incorporated concrete, multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were incorporated in proportions of 0.10 %, 0.15 %, and 0.20 % by binder weight. Compressive strength testing and programmed thermal cycling were performed to evaluate the mechanical and thermal responses of the PCM-LWA concrete. Results showed a significant strength reduction of 54 % due to the PCM-LWA; however, the thermal performance of the PCM-LWA concrete was greatly improved with the addition of MWCNTs. Thermal test results showed that 0.10 % MWCNT-incorporated concrete had high thermal fatigue resistance as well as uniform heat flow, whereas specimens with 0.15 % and 0.20 % MWCNT content had a reduced thermal response due to supercooling when the ambient temperature was varied between -5℃ and 10℃.
