This study tries to analyze morphology and formant frequencies of linear prediction spectra of stethoscope sounds for heart diseased children. For this object, heart diseased stethoscope sounds were collected in the pediatrics of an university hospital. The collected signals were preprocessed and analyzed by the Burg algorithm, a kind of linear prediction analysis. The linear prediction spectra and the formant frequencies of the spectra for the stethoscope sounds for the normal and the diseased children are estimated and compared. The spectra showed outstanding differences in morphology and formant frequencies between the normal and the diseased children. Normal children showed relatively low frequency of F1(the first formant) and small negative slope from F1. VSD children revealed stiff slope change around F1 to F3. Spectra of ASD children is similar with the normal case, but have negative values of F3. F1-F2 difference of the functional murmur children were relatively large.

This paper proposes a model of SP(silent period) generation in masseter muscle by means of computer simulation. The model is based on the anatomical and physiological properties of trigeminal nervous system. In determining the SP generation pathway, evoked SPs of masseter muscle after mechanical stimulation to the chin are divided into normal and abnormal group. Normal SP is produced by the activation of mechanoreceptors in periodontal ligament. The activation of nociceptors contributes to the latter part of normal SP, abnormal extended SP is produced. As a result, the EMG signal generated by a proposed SP generation model is similar to both real EMG signal including normal SP and abnormal extended SP with TMJ patients. The result of this study have shown differences of SP generation mechanism between subjects both with and without TMJ dysfunction.
Detection of abnormal signal generally can be done by using features of normal signals as main information because of data imbalance. This paper propose an efficient method for abnormal signal detection using parallel AutoEncoder (AE) which can use features of abnormal signals as well. The proposed Parallel AE (PAE) is composed of a normal and an abnormal reconstructors having identical AE structure and train features of normal and abnormal signals, respectively. The PAE can effectively solve the imbalanced data problem by sequentially training normal and abnormal data. For further detection performance improvement, additional binary classifier can be added to the PAE. Through experiments using public acoustic data, we obtain that the proposed PAE shows Area Under Curve (AUC) improvement of minimum 22 % at the expenses of training time increased by 1.31 ~ 1.61 times to the single AE. Furthermore, the PAE shows 93 % AUC improvement in detecting abnormal underwater acoustic signal when pre-trained PAE is transferred to train open underwater acoustic data.

With the recent development of hardware and software technology, interest in the development of wearable devices is increasing. In particular, wearable devices require algorithms suitable for low-power and low-capacity embedded devices. Among them, there is an increasing demand for a signal compression algorithm that reduces communication overhead, in order to increase the efficiency of storage and transmission of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals requiring long-time measurement. Because normal beats occupy most of the signal with similar shapes, a high rate of signal compression is possible if normal beats are represented by a template. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for determining the normal beat template using the template cluster and Pearson similarity. Also, the template is expressed effectively as a few vertices through linear approximation algorithm. In experiment of Datum 234 of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database (MIT-BIH ADB) provided by Physionet, a compression ratio was 33.44:1, and an average distribution of root mean square error (RMSE) was 1.55%.

This paper describes a system for location tracking wireless sensor nodes in an indoor environment. The sensor reading used for the location estimation is the received signal strength indication (RSSI) as given by an RF interface. By tagging users with a mobile node and deploying a number of reference nodes at fixed position in the room, the received signal strength indicator can be used to determine the position of tagged users. The system combines Euclidean distance technique with signal strength obtained by measurement driven log-normal path loss model of 2.4 GHz wireless channel. The experimental results demonstrated the ability of this system to estimate the location with a error less than 1.3m.

To realize a robot hand interacting like a human hand, there are many tactile sensors sensing normal force, shear force, torque, shape, roughness and temperature. This sensing signal is essential to manipulate object accurately with robot hand. In particular, slip sensors make manipulation more accurate and breakless to object. Up to now several slip sensors were developed and applied to robot hand. Many of them used complicate algorithm and signal processing with vibration data. In this paper, we developed novel principle slip sensor using separation layer. These two layers are moved from each other when slip occur. Developed sensor can sense slip signal by measuring this relative displacement between two layers. Also our principle makes slip signal decoupled from normal force and shear force without other sensors. The sensor was fabricated using the NBR(acrylo-nitrile butadiene rubber) and the Ecoflex as substrate and a paper as dielectric. To verify our sensor, slip experiment and normal force decoupling test were conducted.

The tone reservation (TR) scheme is an attractive method to reduce peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) in the filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC-OQAM) systems. However, the high PAPR of FBMC signal will severely degrades system performance. To address this issue, a cyclic shift based TR (CS-TR) scheme with embedding side information (SI) is proposed to reduce the PAPR of FBMC signals. At the transmitter, four candidate signals are first generated based on cyclic shift of the output of inverse discrete Fourier transform (IDFT), and the SI of the selected signal with minimum peak power among the four candidate signals is embedded in sparse symbols with quadrature phase-shift keying constellation. Then, the TR weighted by optimal scaling factor is employed to further reduce PAPR of the selected signal. At the receiver, a reliable SI detector is presented by determining the phase rotation of SI embedding symbols, and the transmitted data blocks can be correctly demodulated according to the detected SI. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme significantly outperforms the existing TR schemes in both PAPR reduction and bit error rate (BER) performances. In addition, the proposed scheme with detected SI can achieve the same BER performance compared to the one with perfect SI.
This study was conducted to develop an automatic egg inspection system for detecting creaked eggs based on acoustic impulse response. This system includes a sound generator, a sound sensor with signal conditioner, and a computer. The sound generator that hit the sharp of the dull edges of an egg was constructed with a ceramic ball pendulum attached to a rotary type solenoid. The signal conditioner included a pre-amplifier and a digital signal processing (DSP) board. The parameters for distinguishing cracked and normal eggs were the area, the geometric centroid and the resonance frequency of power spectrum of the acoustic signal generated. An algorithm for on-line detection of the continuous transferring eggs was developed. The performance tests resulted with 91% success rate to separate cracked and normal eggs at the rate of 1 second per an egg.

In this paper, the double conversion gate mixer using a half-LO frequency is described at 25 GHz band. The proposed mixer uses two HEMTs excited by a single LO signal of half-LO frequency in order to generate the second IF signal. That is, the LO signal having the half-LO frequency is only fed into the gate of the first HEMT mixer as a normal gate mixer. The LO signal through the first mixer is find into the second mixer The proposed miler requires not only half of the normal LO frequency, but also lower LO power than the conventional subharmonically pumped milers. Over the bandwidth of 500 MHz at 24.5 GHz, the conversion gain is 2.5 dB, the noise figure is 9 dB, and the isolation between RF and LO port is 32 dB when the LO poller is 0 dBm at 12.65 GHz.
The most basic means of communication among humans is a voice. Without speaking of voice technologies, we found it is important and convenient to use a voice in everyday life. But. in consideration to speech recognition systems, we can't always desire a normal voice input as input signal to the system. Generally speaking. a pathological voice as against a normal which is a voice with a problem in the larynx. could be also special case of input voice. Of course, but the distortion of a speech signal by environmental effects i.e., noise or transmission channel was a raised problem. we will take up a pathological voices with laryngeal disease which is essential distortion factor in voice. Also, we are to find out the difference of acoustic parameters distribution between normal and pathological voice by a statistical method in our research.
