Muscle strength and hypertrophy are equivalent when low-intensity resistance exercise is paired with blood flow restriction. This paper deals with the impact of physical exercise in the form of body activities on drug delivery using nanodevices. The body's actions impact the blood flow since the nano drug delivery devices are released into the bloodstream, and physical exercise and all the activities that change the blood flow influence the stability of these nanodevices. The nanodevice for the drug delivery purpose is modeled via nonuniform tube structures based on the high-order beam theory along with the nonlocal strain gradient theory. The nanodevice is made by a central nanomotor as well as two nanoblade in the form of truncated conical nanotubes carrying the nanomedicine. The mathematical simulation of rotating nanodevices is numerically solved, and the effect of various parameters on the stability of nanodevices has been studied in detail after the validation study.
In this paper the free vibration frequencies of tri-directional functionally graded materials imperfect plate is investigated for Several plate geometries with two types of porosity (even and uneven) and different type of material configuration. The effect of several parameters such as power law index and boundary conditions have been investigated. For this purpose, an efficient computational method is developed and written under Matlab environment, based on a three-dimensional modeling and the isogeometric method is used for the discretization of the structure based on NURBS (Nonuniform rational B-spline) basis functions. The results obtained by the present method are validated by the comparison with the results given by several authors in the literature.
The primary objective of this study is to examine the influence of geometry on the stability characteristics of cylindrical microstructures. This investigation entails a stability analysis of a bi-directional functionally graded (BD-FG) cylindrical imperfect concrete beam, focusing on the impact of geometry. Both the first-order shear deformation beam theory and the modified coupled stress theory are employed to explore the buckling and dynamic behaviors of the structure. The cylinder-shaped imperfect beam is constructed using a porosity-dependent functionally graded (FG) concrete material, wherein diverse porosity voids and material distributions are incorporated along the radial axis of the beam. The radius functions are considered in both uniform and nonuniform variations, reflecting their alterations along the length of the beam. The combination of these characteristics leads to the creation of BD-FG configurations. In order to enable the assessment of stability using energy principles, a numerical technique is utilized to formulate the equations for partial derivatives (PDEs).
Suspension bridges bear large eccentric live loads in rush hours when most vehicles travel in one direction on the left or right side of the bridge. With the increasing number and weight of vehicles and the girder widening, the eccentric live load effect on the bridge behavior, including bending and distortion of the main girder, gets more pronounced, even jeopardizing bridge safety. This study proposes an analytical algorithm based on multi-catenary theory for predicting the suspension bridge responses to eccentric live load via the nonlinear generalized reduced gradient method. A set of governing equations is derived to solve the following unknown values: the girder rigid-body displacement in the longitudinal direction; the horizontal projection lengths of main cable's segments; the parameters of catenary equations and horizontal forces of the side span cable segments and the leftmost segments of middle span cables; the suspender tensions and the bearing reactions. Then girder's responses, including rigid-body displacement in the longitudinal direction, deflections, and torsion angles; suspenders' responses, including the suspender tensions and the hanging point displacements; main cables' responses, including the horizontal forces of each segment; and the longitudinal displacement of the pylons' tower top under eccentric load can be calculated. The response of an exemplar suspension bridge with three spans of 168, 548, and 168 m is calculated by the proposed analytical method and the finite element method in two eccentric live load cases, and their results prove the former's feasibility. The nonuniform distribution of the live load in the lateral direction is shown to impose a greater threat to suspension bridge safety than that in the longitudinal direction, while some other specific features revealed by the proposed method are discussed in detail.

The thermal balance test in vacuum chamber for satellite structures is an essential step in the process of satellite development. However, it is technically and economically difficult to fully replicate the space environment by using the vacuum chamber. To overcome these limitations, the thermal analysis through a computer simulation technique has been conducted. The CFRP composite material has attracted attention as satellite structures since it has advantages of excellent mechanical properties and light weight. However, the nonuniform nature of the thermal conductivity of the CFRP structure should be noted at the step of thermal analysis of the satellite. Two different approaches are studied for the thermal analyses; a detailed numerical modeling and a simplified model expressed by an effective thermal conductivity. In this paper, the effective thermal conductivities of the CFRP composite structures are extracted from the detailed numerical results to provide a practical thermal design data for the satellite fabricated with the CFRP composite structure. Calculation results of the surface temperature and the thermal conductivities along x, y, z directions show fairly good agreements between the detailed modeling and the simplified model for all the cases studied here.
During their life span, post-tensioned concrete structures may be exposed to thermal loads. Therefore, there has been a growing interest in research on the advanced analysis and design of post-tensioned concrete slabs subjected to thermal loads. This paper investigates the structural behaviour of post-tensioned one-way spanning concrete slabs. A nonlinear finite element model for the analysis of post- tensioned unbonded and bonded concrete slabs at elevated temperatures was developed. The interface between the tendon and surrounding concrete was also modelled, allowing the tendon to retain its profile shape during the deformation of the slab. The load-deflection behaviour, load-force behaviour in the tendon, and the failure modes are presented. The numerical analysis was conducted by the finite element ANSYS software and was carried out on two different one-way concrete slabs chosen from literature. A parametric study was conducted to investigate the effect of several selected parameters on the overall behavior of post-tensioned one-way concrete slab. These parameters include the effect of tendon bonding, the effect of thermal loading and the effect of tendon profile. Comparison between uniform thermal loading and nonuniform thermal loading showed that restrained post tensioned slab with bottom surface hotter has smaller failure load capacity.

This paper describes a method for evaluating the vertical hull girder vibratory response associated with slamming of a ship at sea. The ship hull is considered as a nonuniform beam divided into twenty equal sections. Impact forces and structural parameters are used as input quantities on the computer (PRIME 550-II) to obtain the hull girder response in terms of relative displacements, accelerations, bending moments, shear forces, and stresses. Sample calculations are made on a MARINER-Class hull form using first three modes and again using first ten modes and again using first ten modes. The computed response is compared with Antonides's result in order to evaluate the adequacy of the method employed. It is believed that the method is another noticeable one to obtain whipping stresses of a ship to a seaway.

Timoshenko beam model is widely exploited in the literature to examine the mechanical behavior of stubby beam-like components. Timoshenko beam theory is well-known to require the shear correction factor in order to recognize the nonuniform shear distribution at a section. While a variety of shear correction factors are appeared in the literature so far, there is still no consensus on the most appropriate form of the shear correction factor. The Saint-Venant's flexure problem is first revisited in the frame work of the classical theory of elasticity and a highly accurate approximate closed-form solution is presented employing the extended Kantorovich method. The resulted approximate solution for the elasticity field is then employed to introduce two shear correction factors consistent with the Cowper's and energy approaches. The mathematical form of the proposed shear correction factors are then simplified and compared with the results available in the literature over an extended range of Poisson's and aspect ratios. The proposed shear correction factors do not exhibit implausible issue of negative values and do not result in numerical instabilities too. Based on the comprehensive discussion on the shear correction factors, a piecewise definition of shear correction factor is introduced for rectangular cross-sections having excellent agreement with the numerical results in the literature for both shallow and deep cross-sections.

This paper presents the material properties of carbon steels for ships, and offshore structures (ASTM A131) are tested under a series of arctic and cryogenic temperature conditions. For material tension tests, among the ASTM 131 steels, Grades A and B of mild steel and Grade AH of high tensile steel have been used. The obtained mechanical properties of the materials from the material tension tests were applied in a 13,000TEU class container ship to define the effect of low temperature on the ultimate longitudinal strength of the target structure by using the ALPS/HULL intelligent supersize finite element method. The tensile coupon test results showed increased strength and nonuniform fracture strain behaviors within different grades and temperatures. Increasing the material strength resulted in increasing the ultimate longitudinal strength of the ship.
We in this paper study nonlinear bending of a functionally graded porous nanobeam subjected to multiple physical load based on the nonlocal strain gradient theory. For more reasonable analysis of nanobeams made of porous functionally graded magneto-thermo-electro-elastic materials (PFGMTEEMs), both constituent materials and the porosity appear gradient distribution in the present expression of effective material properties, which is much more suitable to the actual compared with the conventional expression of effective material properties. Besides the displacement function regarding physical neutral surface is introduced to analyze mechanical behaviors of beams made of FGMs. Then we derive nonlinear governing equations of PFGMTEEMs beams using the principle of Hamilton. To obtain analytical solutions, a two-step perturbation method is developed in nonuniform electric field and magnetic field, and then we use it to solve nonlinear equations. Finally, the analytical solutions are utilized to perform a parametric analysis, where the effect of various physical parameters on static bending deformation of nanobeams are studied in detail, such as the nonlocal parameter, strain gradient parameter, the ratio of nonlocal parameter to strain gradient parameter, porosity volume fraction, material volume fraction index, temperature, initial magnetic potentials and external electric potentials.
