  • 본 연구는 OpenFOAM의 large eddy simulation (LES)를 이용하여 복단면 흐름을 분석하였다. LES는 여과된 연속방정식과 운동량 방정식을 수치적으로 해석하였다. 일방정식 LES와 비균일 격자를 적용하여 벽 부근의 난류 비등방성과 이차류를 재현하였다. 복단면 개수로 난류의 LES 결과는 홍수터의 수심이 깊은 경우와 얕은 경우에 대해서 제시하였다. 이들 결과는 실험 결과와 비교하였으며 실험결과와 계산 결과는 부합되는 양상을 보여준다. 또한 이차류를 생성하는 난류 비등방성의 역할에 대해서 제시하고 있다.

  • The effect of variable viscosity on MHD mixed convection Hiemenz flow over a thermally stratified porous wedge plate has been studied in the presence of suction or injection. The wall of the wedge is embedded in a uniform Darcian porous medium in order to allow for possible fluid wall suction or injection and has a power-law variation of the wall temperature. An approximate numerical solution for the steady laminar boundary-layer flow over a wall of the wedge in the presence of thermal diffusion has been obtained by solving the governing equations using numerical technique. The fluid is assumed to be viscous and incompressible. Numerical calculations are carried out for different values of dimensionless parameters and an analysis of the results obtained shows that the flow field is influenced appreciably by the magnetic effect, variable viscosity, thermal stratification and suction / injection at wall surface. Effects of these major parameters on the transport behaviors are investigated methodically and typical results are illustrated to reveal the tendency of the solutions. Comparisons with previously published works are performed and excellent agreement between the results is obtained.

좁은 채널 내의 대향분류 메탄-공기 비예혼합 화염의 거동 특성 (Behavioral Characteristics of the Non-Premixed Methane-Air Flame Oppositely Injected in a Narrow Channel)

  • Characteristics of a counter flowing diffusion flame, which is formulated by an oppositely-injected methane-jet flow in a narrow channel of a uniform air flow. The location of the flame fronts and the flame lengths were compared by changing the flow rates of fuel. To distinguish the effects of the narrow channel on the diffusion flame, a numerical simulation for an ideal two-dimensional flame was conducted. Overall trends of the flame behavior were similar in both numerical and experimental results. With the increase of the ratio of jet velocity to air velocity flame front moved farther upstream. It is thought that the flow re-direction in the channel suppresses fuel momentum more significantly due to the higher temperature and increased viscosity of burned gas. Actual flames in a narrow channel suffer heat loss to the ambient and it has finite length of diffusion flame in contrast to the numerical results of infinite flame length. Thus a convective heat loss was additionally employed in numerical simulation and closer results were obtained. These results can be used as basic data in development of a small combustor of a nonpremixed flame.

  • Detailed characteristics of the mean flow field inside the rotor of a multiblade fan with scroll are presented in this paper by measurements and visualizations. The measurements were taken with a five-hole probe and conformed by smoke test. How field is distinguished clearly in 3 regions with respect to the flow directions. The first region is near the exit of scroll where the fluid flows the opposite direction to the rotation of rotor. The second is opposite side of the scroll exit where the fluid flows the same direction to the rotation of rotor. The third is the region where the fluid flows toward the blades directly with the largest values comparatively. The strongest recirculation is happened in the second region, and the weakest one is in the third region. This complex configuration makes the flow field highly non-uniform and may cause to generate a noise and ineffective flow efficiency.

정4각 덕트 입구영역에서 천이파동유동의 속도분포와 입구길이에 관한 연구 (A study on velocity profiles and inlet length of developing transitional pulsating flows in the entrance region of a square duct)

  • In the present study, the velocity profiles and entrance length of developing transitional pulsating flows are investigated both analytically and experimentally in the entrance region of a square duct. The systems of conservation equations for transitional pulsating flows in a square duct are solved analytically by linearizing the non-linear convective terms. Analytical solutions are obtained in the form of infinite series for velocity pofiles. The experimental study for the air flow in a square duct(40mm*40mm*4000mm) is carried out to measure velocity profiles and other parameters by using a hot-wire anemometer with a data acquisition and processing system. The distribution of velocity profiles( $u_{ps}$ / $u_{m,ta}$) in the decelerating period is higher than in the accelerating period. The distribution of the axial component of the axial component of velocity in the transitional flow is nearly uniform in the central region of the duct, and decrease rapidly near the wall. The entrance length correlation of the transitional pulsating flows in a square duct is obtained to be $L_{e}$/ $D_{h}$=0.83 $A_{1}$R $e_{ta}$ /(.omega. sup+1)$^{2}$TEX>

  • In this paper, the design variables of the extruded parts involving flat die through model experiment are investigated to overcome some current problems such as bending and twisting and get more improved quality products. Above all, the deformation behavior is analyzed in experiment and investigated flow charactristics inside container. Finally, the straight extruded product is obtained by modified bearing land width on the basis of the exit velocities distribution from bended and twisted products.

  • To investigate the effect of the amount of hydrogen on CVD grown-graphene, the flow rate of hydrogen was changed, while other process parameters were kept constant during CVD synthesis. Substrate which consists of 300nm-nickel/$SiO_2$/Si substrate, and methane gas mixed with hydrogen and argon were used for CVD growth. Graphene was synthesized at $950^{\circ}C$. The thickness and the defect of graphene were analyzed using raman spectroscopy. The synthesized graphene shows non-uniform and more defective below a certain amount of hydrogen.

  • The optimum design problem of a coat-hanger die is solved by the inverse formulation. The flow in the die is analyzed using three-dimensional model. The new model for the manifold geometry is developed for the inverse formulation. The inverse problem for the optimum die geometry is formed as the optimization problem whose objective function is the linear combination of the square sum of pressure gradient deviation at die exit and the penalty function relating to the measure of non-smoothness of solution. From the several iterative solutions of the optimization problem, the optimum solution can be obtained automatically while producing the uniform flow rate distribution at die exit.

  • This paper deals with the dynamic stability and vibration of a non-uniform cantilevered pipe conveying fluid. The present model consists of two segments with different cross-sections. Governing equations of motion are derived by extended Hamilton's principle, and the numerical scheme using finite element method is applied to obtain the discretized equations. The critical flow velocities and stability maps of the pipe are obtained by changing step ratios, mass ratios and internal damping parameters of the pipe. Finally, the vibrational modes associated with flutter are shown graphically.

  • Axial fans are widely used for automotive engine cooling device due to their ability to produce high flow rate to keep engine cool. At the same time, the noise generated by these fans causes one of the most serious problems. Especially, engine cooling fan noise in idle condition of a car is noticeable. Therefore, the high efficient and low-noise fan is seriously needed. When a new fan system is designed, system resistance and non-uniform inflow are the key factors to get the high performance and low noise fan system. In this study, experimental study on the fan and system was carried out and brought a successful result of performance and noise from a designed fan. And through the modification of the fan system, the fan produced more flow rate and became less noisy.
