Codeposion of inert particles particles in a metallic mateix by electroless plating process involves two phenomena. Firstly, the adsorption of inercles and secondly, the adsorption of inert particles on the cathode. In the present paper the first adsorption phenomenon and in the next paper the second ane are studied in greaterdetail for the Ni-SiCc, Ni-Al2AO3 and Ni-WC systems. Measurements of the Zeta potentials for the SiC and Al2AO3 particles have been in different electrolyte solutions and the ionic species adsorbed on the Particles studied. The addition of sodium acetate, trisodium citrate and sodium phosphinate to nikel sulface sruomotes the zeta potential of SiC and Al2O3 particles, but zeta phosphinate to nickel is more positive than Al2O3 particles although the amount of nickel ion adsorbrd on the Al2O3 particles become greater than that of SiC particles. It is suggested that this is due to adsortion of Na ion onto the surface SiC particles.
The $N_2O_2$ tetradentate Schiff base ligand, N,N'-bis(salicylidene)pentane-1,3-diamine (Salpn), coupled with 1:2 concentration ratio of 1,3-diaminopentane and salicylaldehyde was used to produce a series of macrocyclic Nikel(II) complexes. In the metal complexation, it was observed that Salpn macrocyclic ligand can adopt more than a metal ion giving an unique multinuclear metal complexes including Ni(II)Salpn and $Ni(II)_3(Salpn)_2$. Characteristic IR ${\upsilon}(M-O)$ peaks for Ni(II)Salpn and $Ni(II)_3(Salpn)_2$ were observed to be $1028cm^{-1}$ and $1024cm^{-1}$, respectively. Characteristic UV-Vis absorption ${\lambda}_{max}$ peaks for $Ni(II)_3(Salpn)_2$ were observed to be 241nm and 401 nm. Structural characterization of $Ni(II)_3(Salpn)_2$ by NMR exhibits that the salicylidene ring moiety has two different resonance signals originated from the magnetically asymmetric diligand and trinuclear bis complex. Complete NMR signal assignments and characterizations elucidating structural features of $Ni(II)_3(Salpn)_2$ were described in detail.
In 10M chloride (4M HCl + 6M LiCl) solution, cobalt, but not nickel, formed complex anion (${CoCl_3}^-$), and this anion was extracted by a liquid anion exchanger with Amberlite LA-2. The ion exchange capacity was 2.175meq of cobalt complex per unit ml of Amberlite LA-2. Upon eluting the resin with 0.4M nitric acid, the cobalt complex was stripped and transfered into eluate quantitatively. By using this separation method in the chloride solution dissolved with 50mg of cobalt (II) and 500mg of nikel(II), recovery of cobalt were 99.6 percent.
In this study, steam reforming reaction and surface characteristics of Ni metal foam plate were investigated. Valence state of Ni could be changed by pretreatment, and metallic Ni species exposed on surface as a active site play important role in steam reforming reaction. Porous catalytic membrane also was prepared by mixing of Ni metal foam plate and Ni-YSZ catalyst to control the pore size and assign the catalytic function in Ni metal foam plate. In SEM analysis results, Pore size of Ni metal foam plate could be controlled and Ni-YSZ catalyst well dispersed on surface. Ni based porous catalytic membrane had a similar steam reforming activity regardless of space velocity.
The measurement of Oxidation of nickel has been investigated using vacuum quartz microbalance in the temperature range of $500^{\circ}{\sim}800^{\circ}C$ at various oxygen pressure. The rate constants of nickel-oxidation were evaluated according to the parabolic rate law. From the Arrhenius equation, the activation energy in the range of experimental temperatures were found that $E_{act}$= 35.4 Kcal/mole. It was also found that the parabolic rate constants varied approximately as the one fifth power of the oxygen pressure for nickel-oxidation. The mechanism for the oxidation of this metal were seemed to be via cation vacancy produced by excess of oxygen dissolved in the oxide film.

In order to prevent the thermal and enviromenatal degradation of contact materials a nickel layer was plated as an undercoat of gold plating on the surface phosphorous bronze. The thickness of nikel and gold coating and chemical resistance of the coatings were measured at various conditions. Variation of morphology and chemical composition was studied by SEM, EDS and ESCA, respectively. Nickel layer was found to act as a thermal diffusion barrier and to retard the diffusion of copper from substrate to gold coating in the temperature $200^{\circ}C$~$400^{\circ}C$. below $200^{\circ}C$gold coated contacts showed a stable and low contanct resistance, while above $200^{\circ}C$ rapid diffusion of copper formed copper oxide on the surface layer and raised the contact resistance. With the nickel thinkness of abount 5$\mu$m as an undercoat the gold thinkness of $0.5\mu$m, showed satistactory (less than 1 m$\Omega$) contact resistance below 20$0^{\circ}C$ and corresponding gold thinkness increased to 1.0 m at $300^{\circ}C$~$400^{\circ}C$.

In this study, the complex vibration reliability of Sn-3.5Ag and Sn-0.7Cu having a high melting temperature was investigated. For manufacturing of BGA test samples, Sn-3.5Ag and Sn-0.7Cu balls were joined on BGA chips finished by ENIG and the chips were mounted on PCB finished OSP by using reflow process. For measuring of resistance change during complex vibration test, daisy chain was formed in the test board. From the results of resistance change and shear strength change, the reliability of two solder balls was compared and evaluated. During complex vibration for 120 hours, Sn-0.7Cu solder was more stable than Sn-3.5Ag solder in complex vibration test.

Carboxymethylated polyamine-polyurea resin loaded with rubeanic acid (RCCPPI resin) was obtained by 1 step chemical reaction between chlorocarboxymethylated polyamine-polyurea(CCPPI) resin as matrix polymer and rebeanic acid. This resin was confirmed with infrared spectrometry, elemental analysis, and thermal analysis(DSC). The adsorption characteristics of the heavy metal's on the resin were studied by measuring distribution coefficient($K_d$) with changing pH of the solutions and frontal chromatography. The enrichment, recovery, and analysis of trace heavy metals, such as cadmium, cerium, copper, nikel, lead, and zinc, in the presence of high concentrations of sodium, calcium, and acetate salts was possible quantitatively by a column packed with the resin at each optimum pH. Preconcentration factors were more than 25. To elute the adsorbed heavy metals on the resin, 0.025M EDTA solution(pH 9.0) was used.

Tungsten(W) metal has excellent properties in heat-resistance, corrison-resistance and impact-resistance but W-Metal is hard to sinter because higher than $2,000^{\circ}C$ is required to sinter W-powder. Con-sequently, a deposit technique of Nikel Phosphorus(NiP) on W-powber by the liquid reduction precipitation method was performed. Sintering temperature of the resulting W-NiP composite was lowered around to $1,000^{\circ}C$, and the mechanical properties of the sintered body was studied. The most suitable conditions for NiP thin film deposit on W-Powder by the liquid reduction precipitation method, which are composition, concentration, pH and temperature of the liquid reduction solution, were considered. The activated sintering was carried out in a reducing condition furnace. Components and properties of the sintered body were investigated by the density and the hardness measurements, X- ray diffraction analysis, and microscopic photographs of the surface. Quantity of NiP thin film on W-powder could be varied by the change of the liquid reduction solution composition. The sintering temperature of W-NiP composite powder is lowered to $950^{\circ}C$ from $2,000^{\circ}C$ and the hardness is increased (ca. 720 Hv). Large shrinkage could be observed since density was increased from 5.5 to 11.0 g/$cm^2$ which 86.2% of theoretical density. W metal and $Ni_3P$ crystal were detected through X-ray diffraction on the sintered body. Perfectly activated sintering was observed by microscopic photographs.
Organic amendments such as animal waste compost, lime-bordeaux mixture, and lime sulphur mixture contain heavy metal(loid)s which are toxic to human being, animal, and plant. The objective of this study was to compare heavy metal(loid)s contamination of soil between conventional and organic farm. Soil samples were collected from 10 conventional and 38 organic fruit farms. At each sampling point, top (0~15 cm) and sub soil (15~30 cm) were taken using hand auger. Total concentration for arsenic (As), cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), nikel (Ni), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) in the collected soil were measured. The pollution index (PI) for heavy metal in organic farms indicated it was unpolluted area. However, mean value of PI for organic farms (0.143) was higher than that for conventional farms (0.122). High Geoaccumulation index (Igeo) for Cu, Pb, and Zn implied that grape farms were more polluted than others fruit farms because a lot of lime-bordeaux mixture and lime sulphur were applied in organic grape farms. Especially, top soils showed higher level of contamination than sub soil. Based on the above results, organic amendments might cause accumulation of heavy metals in soil. Therefore, particular attention should be paid for concentration of Cu, Pb, and Zn, when organic amendments are used in the organic fruit farms.
