Seven new species of two genera Scalarispongia and Smenospongia (Demospongiae: Dictyoceratida: Thorectidae) are described from Gageo Island and Jeju Island, Korea. Five new species of Scalarispongia are compared to nine reported species of the genus by the skeletal structure. Scalarispongia viridis n. sp. has regular ladder-like skeletal pattern arranged throughout the sponge body and has pseudo-tertiary fibres. Scalarispongia favus n. sp. is characterized by the honeycomb shape of the surface and is similar to Sc. flava in skeletal structure, but differs in sponge shape. Scalarispongia lenis n. sp. is similar to Sc. regularis in skeletal structure but has fibers that are smaller in size. Scalarispongia canus n. sp. has irregular skeletal structure in three dimensions and ladder-like which comes out of the surface and choanosome. Scalarispongia subjiensis n. sp. has pseudo-tertiary fibres and its regular ladder-like skeletal pattern occurs at the choanosome. Two new species of Smenospongia are distinguished from the other 19 reported species of the genus by the skeletal structure. Smenospongia aspera n. sp. is similar to Sm. coreana in sponge shape but new species has rarely secondary web and thin and thick bridged fibres at near surface. Smenospongia mureungensis n. sp. has very simple skeletal structure.

A new marine halacarid species of the genus Agauopsis Viets, 1927 (Acari: Halacaridae) is recorded from Jeju Island, Korea. Agauopsis tetrasetosa n. sp. belongs to the microrhyncha group in sharing one ventral and three ventromedial spines on tibia of leg I, of which two ventromedial ones are adjacent to each other, with its 20 congeneric members. Agauopsis tetrasetosa n. sp. is most similar to A. miliaris Bartsch, 2005 and A. similis Bartsch, 1979 in sharing the similar chaetotaxy of legs I-IV, positions of the second and fourth dorsal setae, and non 'H'- or 'M'-shaped costae on anterior dorsal plate. However, the new species is distinguished from them by four pairs of perigenital setae in female, the relatively anterior location of gland pores on posterior dorsal plate, and three ventral spines on the tibia of leg II. We describe the new species herein, with detailed illustrations under a differential interference contrast microscope. We also make some brief comments on the affinities between the congeneric species of the microrhyncha group and the new species, based on a tabular key to species of the group.

Two new marine sponges, Clathria (Clthria) jungtaedoensis n. sp. and Antho (Antho) hataedoensis n. sp. were collected in Taedo Island, Korea. C. (C.) jungtaedoensis n. sp. is similar to C. (C.) striata. The new species, however, has many small toxa and massive form. A. (A.) hataedoensis n. sp. is similar to A. (A.) inconstans from Gulf of Naples, Italy, but differs from the latter in the size of spicules. The toxa in the new species is about one third as long as A. (A.) inconstans's.

소나무에서 Oligonychus 속의 1신종 Oligonychus solus n. sp.가 채집 발견되었기에 기재하여 보고한다. 본 종은 Oligonychus ununguis(Jacobi, 1905)와 유사하나 체장과 배면모의 크기가 작고, 생시개구 앞의 주름이 가로로 나 있어서 쉽게 구분된다.

Fifteen species of water mites belonging to the genus Atums are reported from the eastern area of Korea, with the following five of them described as new species: Aturus glaberus, A. parauarus, A. quodrotus, A. sankveriensis, and A. trifurcatus, n. sap. A. complexus Sokolow and A. tewaconfusensis Habeeb, both new records for Korean fauna, are re-described.

A new sponge species of the genus Hymeniacidon (family Halichondriidae) from Munsum, Jeju Island, Korea is described. This species is similar to H. sinapium in spicule size, but the color, oscules, external surface and arrangement of the spicules are considerably different. This species is bright yellow in live, and retains multiple oscules and a plumose bundle of styles in the subectosomal region.
