  • The family Triphoridae Gray, 1847 is a group of marine microgastropods characterized by sinistral (left-coiled) shells except for the subfamily Metaciinae, which has dextral shell coiling. We report a new record of Mastonia rubra (Hinds, 1843) collected from the intertidal zone from Jeju Island, Korea and revise species list for Korean Triphoridae species. Mastonia rubra is distinguished from Inforis fusiformis(Kosuge, 1961) by the purple color of the first and second whorls of the teleoconch, whereas they are light colored and nearly white corresponding whorls in I. fusiformis. Including this new record, the Korean Triphoridae comprises 20 species from 15 genera.

  • In this study, we conduct a review of the genus Taeniogonalos Schulz, 1906, which belongs to the subfamily Trigonalinae (Hymenoptera: Trigonalidae) from Korea. The genus Taeniogonalos Schulz is recognized as a relatively small genus. Taeniogonalos comprises 53 described species worldwide, including nine species identified in the Eastern Palaearctic region. A total of four species have been recognized from Korea. This paper enumerates the known species in Korea, including the new record. We provide the diagnosis and photographs for the newly recorded species. Additionally, we present a key to the Korean species of Taeniogonalos Schulz, 1906.

  • A newly recorded species Caprella arimotoi Takeuchi, 1993, belonging to the family Caprellidae Leach, 1814, was collected from the South Sea, Korea. This species is morphologically very similar to Caprella verrucosa Boeck, 1871, with blunt dorsal projections on pereonites, oval-shaped propodus on gnathopod 2, and grasping spines on the pereopods 5-7. Caprella arimotoi originated from C. verrucosa and are difficult to distinguish because they have mixed characteristics. However, C. arimotoi was classified because of several morphological differences. The newly recorded species C. arimotoi is discernible from C. verrucosa by a forwardly curved anterodorsal projection on head, elongated gills, slender pereopod 7, and lacking ventrolateral projections on pereonites 2-7. To date, C. arimotoi has only been reported in Japanese waters. So, our record is the first record in Korean waters and outside of Japan. In this study, the Korean C. arimotoi is illustrated based on the mature male specimens with a brief description of the female, focusing on the sexually dimorphic characters.

  • Rotifers collected from Duung and Gyeongpo wetlands in Korea were investigated. Five species belonging to five genera in four families of monogonont rotifers were identified: Cephalodella ventripes (Dixon-Nuttall), Dicranophorus grandis (Ehrenberg), Lecane undulata Hauer, Taphrocampa selenura Gosse, and Testudinella emarginula (Stenroos). All these species are new to the Korean fauna, even though they have very wide or cosmopolitan distributions. The present study is the first report on the genus Taphrocampa Gosse from Korea. The taxonomy and distribution of each new Korean record are briefly discussed here. The diagnostic characteristics, photomicrographs and the deposition of voucher specimen are provided for each new Korean record.

  • Korean species of Achyrolimonia, Dicranoptycha and Helius crane flies (Diptera: Limoniidae) are taxonomically revised. Identification keys, redescriptions and illustrations of all species and both sexes, if they were found in Korea, are presented. Genus Achyrolimonia is new record for the Korean peninsula, genera Dicranoptycha and Helius are new records for South Korea, species Helius (Helius) obliteratus (Alexander, 1920) is new record for the Korean peninsula and new record for the continent. Illustrations of females of D. diacantha Alexander, 1938 and H. gracillimus Alexander, 1938 are provided and female of D. prolongata Alexander, 1938 is described and illustrated for the first time.

  • An epiphytic bladed member of the Bangiales was found growing in Christchurch (South Island, New Zealand). Molecular sequence data and morphological comparisons revealed that the New Zealand specimens belong to the species Pyropia koreana (M. S. Hwang & I. K. Lee) M. S. Hwang, H. G. Choi, Y. S. Oh & I. K. Lee. This is the first record of Py. koreana in the southern hemisphere and a new record of an introduced species in New Zealand.

  • Three species of Choreutidae, Choreutis atrosignata (Christoph, 1888), Choreutis japonica (Zeller, 1877), and Litobrenthia japonica (Issiki, 1930), are reported for the first time from Korea. The records of C. atrosignata and C. japonica are based on two females from Yeongwol, Gangwon Province and from the Island Chujado, Jeju Province, respectively. The latter species was obtained from two larvae collected on the leaves of Ficus erecta (Moraceae). Photographs and data of rearing the larvae are provided. The record of L. japonica was based on two specimens collected from the Islands, Bogildo and Wando, Jeollanam Province. The present data of L. japonica represent the first record of the subfamily Brenthiinae and the genus Litobrenthia from Korea. Distributions of two species C. japonica and L. japonica, previously known only from Japan, now extends to Korea. Habitus and genitalia of the species treated here are briefly described and illustrated, if possible. To sum up, the Korean Choreutidae comprises four genera and 10 species, nine in Choreutinae and one in Brenthiinae.
