Improvement of Fe, Mn or Si Substitution on Hydrogen Storage Properties of Ti-Cr-V Alloys (Fe, Mn, Si 치환에 의한 Ti-Cr-V 합금의 수소저장 특성 향상)

  • Hydrogen storage properties of $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43-X}V_{0.25}M_X$($0{\leq}X{\leq}0.1$, M=Fe, Mn, Si) have been investigated. With varing of Mn content, the lattice parameter of the alloy was unchanged and similar to that of $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.43}V_{0.25}$ alloy. With increase of Fe, Si content, the lattice parameters of the BCC phases decreased. When the Fe content was 8 at%, the desorption plateau pressure increased to several atmospheres without decrease of the effective hydrogen storage capacity of the alloy. When the Mn content was 8 at%, the effective hydrogen storage capacity showed approximately 2.5 wt% without change in the desorption plateau pressure. With increase of Si content, hysteresis increased and hydrogen storage capacity decreased rapidly. A study was also made on how desorption temperature affected the usable hydrogen of the $Ti_{0.32}Cr_{0.35}V_{0.25}Mn_{0.08}$ alloy. The temperature was varied from 293 to 413 K, and the pressure from 5 to 0.002 MPa. The usable hydrogen of the alloy was 2.7 wt% when absorbed and desorbed at 293 K and 373 K., respectively. The heat of hydride formation of the alloy was approximately -35.5 kJ/mol $H_2$.

Quality Changes of Hydroponically Grown 'New Raon Red' Paprika Packaged in Corrugated Box as Affected by Storage Temperature (수경재배한 미니 파프리카 '뉴라온레드' 저장온도 별 골판지박스 포장에서 수확후 특성 변화)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of each storage temperature condition of 5, 10, 15 and 20℃ to maintain the freshness of mini paprika (Capsicum annuum cv. New Raon Red) in corrugated box. Changes in general appearance, fresh weight loss, firmness, SSC (solid sugar content), and Hue angle were investigated. Furthermore, storage at temperatures ranging from 5℃ to 15℃ for 14 days resulted in maintaining freshness for 35 days. Paprika stored at 20℃ showed significantly higher loss of fresh weight and firmness than that of other storage temperatures. Furthermore, paprika stored at 5℃ and 10℃ showed a lesser decrease in hue angle than that at 15℃ and 20℃. However, the SSC of mini paprika was not significantly affected by storage temperature. These results suggest that corrugated box packaging in combination with low storage temperatures (5~10℃) could be effective in prolonging the shelf life of mini paprika. Therefore, the results represented that the low temperature storage in combination with cardboard box treatment could be effective in prolonging the shelf life of fresh paprika.

  • A Study on the effect of the additives in lubricating oil was investigated on the basis of the thermal activated wear theory in terms of their wear behaviours, using four ballwear machine. The sample oils, which included diethyl-3, 5-di-t-butyi-4-hydroxy-benzyl phosphonate (DEP), ZDDP and TCP additives respectively, showed distinct wear characteristics depending upon the bulk oil temperature and the sliding velocity. The newly synthesized additive, viz., DEP showed excellent antiwear performance cornpared with the conventional additives, ZDDP and TCP. On the basis of the experimental results, it is reduced that the wear mechanism of the conventional additives, viz., ZDDP and TCP is the protective film formation and their antiwear capability is depending upon the shearing strength of the film formed. On the other hand, the new additive, DEP showed that the secondary activation energy was much eliminated and so, the thermal instability was reduced by the hydrogen scavenging reaction of the new additive, which was virtually an endothermic reaction process.In conclusion, a new concept of antiwear mechanism is estabilished and testified. And new chemical, which showed the function of hydrogen and free radical scavenging role, is synthesized and introduced as the new, highly antiwear effective lubricating oil additive.

An NMR Study of Solvent Interactions in a Paramagnetic System

  • This study explores and interprets in a new way the complex solvent and the temperature dependence of the NMR shifts for the N-$CH_2$ protons in tris(N,N-diethyldithiocarbamato) iron(III) in acetone, benzene, carbon disulfide, chloroform, dimethylformamide and pyridine. The NMR shifts are interpreted in terms of the Fermi contact interaction and the dipolar term from the multipole expansion of the interaction of the electron orbital angular momentum and the electron spin dipolar-nuclear spin angular momentum. This analysis yields a direct measure of the effect of the solvent system on the environment of the transition metal ion. The results are analysed in terms of the crystal field environment of the transition metal ion with contributions from (a) the dithiocarbamate ligand (b) the solvent molecules and (c) the interaction of the effective dipole moment of the polar solvent molecule with the transition metal ion complex.

  • 본 논문에서는 2008년 4월 이후 지열원 열펌프가 설치되어지는 현장에 시험공의 지중열전도도를 현장열응답법을 이용하여 측정하였으며, 그간에 측정된 지중열전도도를 이용하여 전국의 지중온도 및 지중열전도도의 산포도를 정리하였다. 지중열교환기의 심도가 150m일 때 지중온도 분포는 약 $12.0{\sim}19^{\circ}C$의 넓은 분포를 보였으나 대부분의 지중온도가 $15.0{\sim}17.0^{\circ}C$의 범위에 분포하였으며, 지중열전도도의 경우도 마찬가지로 1.50 ~ 9.00 W/mk 값으로 아주 넓은 분포를 보였으나 2.30 ~ 2.90W/mk 값이 가장 많이 나타냈다.

Evaluating Efficacy of Hilbert-Huang Transform in Analyzing Manufacturing Time Series Data with Periodic Components (제조업의 주기성 시계열분석에서 힐버트 황 변환의 효용성 평가)

  • Real-life time series characteristic data has significant amount of non-stationary components, especially periodic components in nature. Extracting such components has required many ad-hoc techniques with external parameters set by users in case-by-case manner. In our study, we evaluate whether Hilbert-Huang Transform, a new tool of time-series analysis can be used for effective analysis of such data. It is divided into two points : 1) how effective it is in finding periodic components, 2) whether we can use its results directly in detecting values outside control limits, for which a traditional method such as ARIMA had been used. We use glass furnace temperature data to illustrate the method.

  • Benzotriazol-1-yl Diethyl phosphate and benzotriazol-1-yl diphenyl phosphate were conveniently prepared in essentially quantitative yields by the reaction of diethyl chlorophosphate and diphenyl chlorophosphate with equal amounts of 1-hydroxybenzotriazole and triethylamine in tetrahydrofuran at room temperature, respectively. Benzotriazol-1-yl diethylphosphate was effective for the preparation of amides from carboxylic acids amines. Young test and Anderson test for racemization studies using benzotriazol-1-yl diethyl phosphate were investigated and practically no racemization occurred. However, racemization occurred to some extent during coupling of Z-Phe-Val-OH with Pro-OBu. Several dipeptides and tripeptides were prepared without little racemization using benzotriazol-1-yl diethyl phosphate. Benzotriazol-1-yl diphenyl phosphate was less effective than benzotriazol-1-yl diethyl phosphate in terms of the degree of racemization.

Studies on the Miscibility of Methylcellulose/Chitosan Blends by Thermogravimetric Analysis and Thermodynamic Mechanical Analysis (열분석기기를 이용한 메틸셀룰로오스/키토산 블랜드의 상용성에 관한 연구)

  • Films of methylcellulose(MC), chitosan and their blends were prepared using water and acid solution as a solvent. The transition behavior and miscibility of polymers and their blends were characterized by dynamic mechanical analysis(DMA) and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA). The DMA analysis of PEG400/MC blends has shown that PEG400 was compatible with MC and was effective plasticizer since the curves of $tan{\delta}$ against temperature exhibited single peak, corresponding to single glass transition temperature, which were displaced to lower values with increasing PEG400 content. Results of DMA analysis and TGA analysis of MC/chitosan blends indicate that there are some miscibility between MC and chitosan in the blends, attributed to the similarities between two polysaccharides and interactions of two polymers in the blends. The inclusion of PEG400 in the blends increase the miscibility between two components in the blends.

Evaluation of Thermal Fluid Characteristics for EGR Cooler with Spiral Type (Spiral 구조 EGR Cooler의 열유동 특성 평가)

  • Cooled EGR is an effective method for the reduction of NOx from a diesel engine and an EGR Cooler is the key component of the system. High efficiency, low pressure loss and compactness are required for the EGR Cooler. To meet these requirements, new geometric tube must be developed. In this paper, a full size EGR cooler test bench has been developed to validate the CFD flow and heat transfer models. Fluid temperature and pressure drop measurements are provided. fillet temperature is $200^{\circ}C$ and $300^{\circ}C$, and flow rates vary from 0.008 kg/sec to 0.019 kg/sec. The gas flow and heat transfer in a single tube cooler have been studied using computational fluid dynamics(CFD). Analysis has been carried out in a single tube with a plain tube and six spirally enhanced tubes of varying pitch to depth ratio(p/e).

  • Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is currently recognized as a leading process in the new field of solid freeform fabrication (SFF). It is used to fabricate in a short time any 3 dimensional shapes by layer-by-layer sintering of polymer, ceramic or metal powder. To develop this SFF system, it needs effective laser scanning path, temperature and z-axis control for lamination. Therefore, in this study, through the application of control algorithm for sintering process have performed, temperature evaluation for sintering process has performed and the manufacturing sample using SLS process.
