  • The naturally occurring coumarins are likely to be a large and important group of plant products which are not only metabolic products of the living cells but possess varied physiological and pharmacological actions. Investigations concerning various biological activities of natural coumarins have been undertaken by many investigators in continuing effort. The authors describe on experimental results of biological activities of coumarin derivatives with particular emphasis on 10 different activities that are considered to be of importance in view of the development of new drugs from natural resources.

  • Gallstones constitute one of the more common and relatively costly conditions of the gastrointestinal system and are a major risk factor for gallbladder cancer. Most gallstone cases involve individuals younger than 60 years of age, those older representing 9% of the total in one series. There are many risk factors for gallstones and Lith and Mucin genes, for example, play important roles in their formation. Surgery is one therapeutic approach but in the future it is to be expected that drugs for prevention of gallstones will be developed in the future. This will have clear implications for gallbladder cancer control.

  • The discovery of new ligands with affinity and selectivity for the dopamine $D_2$ receptor subtypes is an important area in medicinal chemistry. The distribution of the $D_2$ receptors in the limbic areas of brain suggests that these receptors may be particularly an attractive target for the design of potential selective antipsychotic drugs without causing extrapyramidal side effects. • The effect of radio- and chemotherapy for cancer are excellent, but their toxicities to normal tissue and organ of the body is relatively strong, which leads secondary side effect to patients during therapies. Particularly, due to the response for bone marrow suppression such as agranulocytosis limits the therapy periods and dose of drugs, new drug development that reproduces lymphocytes has been focused. • Topical buccal therapy with steroid anti-inflammatory drugs is based on the concept that a high activity of steroids can be produced at the site of administration and, at the same time, the degree of systemic side effects can be minimized or avoided. In this study we developed a new formulation consisting of a mucoadhesive bead for buccal administration of glucocorticoids. (omitted)

  • The purpose of this paper is to review the current clinical uses of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in the field of gynecology. All relevant articles published from January 2000 to December 2017 were reviewed and analyzed. The articles on PRP in the field of gynecology were mainly case series, pilot studies, or case reports. PRP is currently considered a new therapeutic modality for some disorders that are refractory to conventional drugs.

  • Venous thromboembolism represents as an obstruction of a vein by a blood clot in the blood stream. The most common manifestations of venous thromboembolism (VTE) are pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower extremity. This article reviews the recent advances in this spectrum and introduces new drugs that will be used in venous thromboembolism in the near future.

  • Several aspects about the epidemiological status of chicken coccidiosis, its control measures and recent research activities in Korea are discussed in this paper. Medication with different available anticoccidial drugs has been reasonably effective in treating and preventing serious outbreaks of coccidiosis in chicken, but the disease remains one of the most expensive and common diseases of popultry production in this country, and more recently its incidence is increasing, possibly due to the more intensive methods of husbandry and the immergence of resistant strains of coccidia. Therefore, this necessitates a continuous search for new methods such as medication program (shuttl and rotation program) and immunization using attenuated strains or parasite antigens.

  • China is rich in plant resources of various species. There are more than 3000 kinds of flowering plants distributed widely in the country. Throughout China's long history, many plants have been using for treatment of various diseases and playing very important role to support social civilization and prosperity. As present understanding, Chinese medicinal plants are rich sources of discovering and developing new natural drugs and lead compounds in China. To make the use of Chinese medicinal plants more scientific and more rational, its fundamental research should be strengthened, including studies on chemical constituents, pharmacological effects and its action mechanism.
