  • We calculated the solar monopole abundance limit by comparing the observed solar neutrino flux and the calculation of non-fusion solar neutrino flux produced by Rubakov process in the solar core. We included the produced meson's enhancement effects by the surrounding ions in the solar core. We find that the monopole number $N_M<1.9\times10^{20}(1mb/{\sigma}0)$, where ${\sigma}0$ is the characteristic proton decay cross section of Rubakov process. This is similar or stronger than strong limits obtained from neutron star's luminosity.

  • The 13C (α,n)16O reaction cross-section is important data for nuclear physics, astrophysical, and neutrino physics experiments, however, they exhibit uncertainties due to the discrepancies in the experimental data. In this study, using the Nedis-2m program code, the energy spectrum of α-induced neutrons in a thin carbon target was calculated and the corresponding reaction cross-section was refined in the alpha particle energy range of 5-8 MeV. The results were used to calculate the intensity and energy spectrum of background neutrons produced in the liquid scintillator of KamLAND. The results will be useful in a variety of astrophysical and neutrino experiments especially those based on LS or Gd-LS detectors.

  • I will present the Sejong Suite, an extensive collection of state-of-the-art high-resolution cosmological hydrodynamical simulations spanning a variety of cosmological and astrophysical parameters, primarily developed for modeling the Lyman-Alpha forest. Adopting a particle-based implementation, we follow the evolution of gas, dark matter (cold and warm), massive neutrinos, and dark radiation, and consider several combinations of box sizes and number of particles. Noticeably, for the first time, we simulate extended mixed scenarios describing the combined effects of warm dark matter, neutrinos, and dark radiation, modeled consistently by taking into account the neutrino mass splitting. Along the way, I will also highlight some new results focused on the matter and flux statistics.

  • With upcoming high-quality data from surveys such as eBOSS or DESI, improving the theoretical modeling and gaining a deeper understanding of the effects of neutrinos and dark radiation on structure formation at small scales are necessary, to obtain robust constraints free from systematic biases. Using a novel suite of hydrodynamical simulations that incorporate dark matter, baryons, massive neutrinos, and dark radiation, we present a detailed study of their impact on Lyman-Alpha forest observables. In particular, we accurately measure the tomographic evolution of the shape and amplitude of the small-scale matter and flux power spectra and search for unique signatures along with preferred scales where a neutrino mass detection may be feasible. We then investigate the thermal state of the intergalactic medium (IGM) through the temperature-density relation. Our results indicate that the IGM at z ~ 3 provides the best sensitivity to active and sterile neutrinos.

  • This dissertation presents the results on two-dimensional Redshift space distortion (hereafter RSD) analyses of the large-scale structure of the universe using spectroscopic data and on improvement of modeling of the RSD effect. RSD is an effect caused by galaxies' peculiar velocity on their clustering feature in observation along the line of sight and is thus intimately connected to the growth rate of the structure in the universe, from which we can test the origin of cosmic acceleration and Einstein's theory of gravity at cosmic scales in the end. However, there are several challenges in modeling precise and accurate RSD effect, such as non-linearities and the existence of an exotic component, e.g. massive neutrino. As part of endeavors for modeling more precise and accurate galaxy clustering in redshift space, this dissertation includes a series of works for this issue. (More detailed descriptions were omitted.)

  • We analyze the clustering of large scale structure in the Universe in a model independent method, accounting for anisotropic effects along and transverse to the line of sight. A large sample of 690,000 galaxies from The Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopy Survey Data Release 11 are used to determine the Hubble expansion H, angular distance D_A, and growth rate GT at an effective redshift of z=0.57. After careful bias and convergence studies of the effects from small scale clustering, we find that cutting transverse separations below 40 Mpc/h delivers robust results while smaller scale data leads to a bias due to unmodelled nonlinear and velocity effects. The converged results are in agreement with concordance LCDM cosmology, general relativity, and minimal neutrino mass, all within the $68{\backslash}%$ confidence level. We also present results separately for the northern and southern hemisphere sky, finding a slight tension in the growth rate -- potentially a signature of anisotropic stress, or just covariance with small scale velocities -- but within $68{\backslash}%$ CL.

  • Reduced Activation Ferritic/Martenstic (RAFs) are leading candidates for structural materials of D-T fusion reactor. One of The RAFs, JLF-1 (9Cr-2W-V, Ta) has been developed and proved to have good resistance against high-fluency neutrino irradiation and good phase stability. Recently, in order to clarify the strengthening mechanical at high temperature, a new scheme to improve high temperature mechanical properties is desired. Therefore, the creep properties and creep life prediction by Larson-Miller Parameter method for JLF-1 to be used for fusion reactor materials or other high temperature components were presented at the elevated temperatures of $500^{\circ}C$, $550^{\circ}C$, $600^{\circ}C$, $650^{\circ}C$ and $704^{\circ}C$. It was confirmed experimentally and quantitatively that a creep life predictive e벼ation at such various high temperatures was well derived by LMP.

  • We study the effect of massive neutrinos on the evolution of the early mini-halos ($M\sim10^6h^{-1}M{\odot}at$ z~20) where the first stars may have formed. In the framework of the extended Press-Schechter formalism, we evaluate analytically the rates of merging of the mini-halos into zero-dimensional larger halos and one-dimensional mini-filaments. It is shown that the halo-to-filament merging rate increases with the neutrino mass fraction $f_v$ while the halo-to-halo merging rate decreases. Comparing the cases of $f_v$=0 and 0.10, the halo-to-filament merging rate for $f_v$=0.10 is 3 times larger than the other. The distribution of the epochs of the longest-axis collapse of these first filaments is also derived and found to reach a sharp maximum at z~8-9. Once the first mini-filaments form, they would provide bridges along which the matter and gas more rapidly accrete onto the constituent halos, causing the early formation of the first galaxies and rapid growth of their central blackholes. Furthermore, the longest axis collapse of these first mini-filaments would spur the supermassive blackholes to power the ultra-luminous high-z quasars.
