The architecture in a differentiated services (DiffServ) network is based on a simple model that applies a per-class service in the core node of the network. However, because the network behavior is simple, the network structure and provisioning is complicated. If a service provider wants dynamic provisioning or a better bandwidth guarantee, the differentiated services network must use a signaling protocol with QoS parameters or an admission control method. Unfortunately, these methods increase the complexity. To overcome the problems with complexity, we investigated scalable dynamic provisioning for admission control in DiffServ networks. We propose a new scalable $qDPM^2$ mechanism based on a centralized bandwidth broker and distributed measurement-based admission control and movable boundary bandwidth management to support heterogeneous QoS requirements in DiffServ networks.
Along with the growing popularity of 5G technology, providing flexible and personalized network services suitable for requirements of customers has also become a lucrative venture and business key for network service providers. Therefore, dynamic network provisioning is needed to help network service providers. Moreover, increasing user demand for network services meets specific requirements of users, including location, usage duration, and QoS. In this paper, a routing algorithm, which makes routing decisions using Reinforcement Learning (RL) based on the information about link stability, is proposed and called Link Stability aware Reinforcement Learning (LSRL) routing. To evaluate this algorithm, several mininet-based experiments with various network settings were conducted. As a result, it was observed that the proposed method accepts more requests through the evaluation than the past link annotated shorted path algorithm and it was demonstrated that the proposed approach is an appealing solution for dynamic network provisioning routing.

Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in data traffic, driven primarily by the explosive growth of the Internet. Optical networking is believed as a key solution to keep up with the growth, thus, the most pressing issue is how to manage and control large optical networks. Currently, provisioning end-to-end connections across the transport network has involved the network operator, leading to long provisioning times in an era when customers are demanding shorter provisioning time. To address this critical issue, new control intelligence is being studied for use within optical networks to shorten provisioning time. Both the IETF and the ITU-T have been aggressively defining many aspects of a control plane for the next generation convergence transport network. Basically, they are based on the distributed control scheme. In this Paper, we suey the applicability of the centralized control scheme for the provisioning control of optical transport network to utilize its inherent advantages over the distributed control scheme. We discuss new central control architecture, and control procedure. Also, we examine the applicability of the existing IETF routing and signaling protocols to the new control concepts, and then, we propose the additional routing and signaling information elements.
Fault management of virtualized network environments using user-driven network provisioning systems (NPSs) is crucial for guaranteeing seamless virtual network services irrespective of physical infrastructure impairment. The network service interface (NSI) of the Open Grid Forum reflects the need for a common standard management API for the reservation and provisioning of user-driven virtual circuits (VCs) across global networks. NSI-based NPSs (that is, network service agents) can be used to compose user-driven VCs for mission-critical applications in a dynamic multi-domain. In this article, we first attempt to outline the design issues and challenges faced when attempting to provide mission-critical applications using dynamic VCs with a protection that is both user-driven and trustworthy in a dynamic multi-domain environment, to motivate work in this area of research. We also survey representative works that address inter-domain VC protection and qualitatively evaluate them and current NSI against the issues and challenges.
In this paper, we address the question of dynamic network provisioning for time-varying traffic rates, with the objective of maximizing the system throughput. We assume that the network is capable of providing bandwidth guaranteed traffic tunnels for an ingress-egress pair and present an approach that (1) updates the tunnel routes and (2) adjusts the tunnel bandwidths, in an incremental, adaptive manner, based on the variations in the incoming traffic. First, we consider a simpler scenario where tunnel routes are fixed, and present an approach for adjusting the tunnel bandwidths dynamically. We show, through simulations, that our dynamic bandwidth assignment algorithm significantly outperforms the optimal static bandwidth provisioning policy, and yields a performance close to that of the optimal dynamic bandwidth provisioning policy. We also propose an adaptive route update algorithm, which can be used in conjunction with our dynamic bandwidth assignment policy, and leads to further improvement in the overall system performance.
During the major sections of the network, Software-defined network control technology for the network area corresponding to the transmission network is becoming a change in network-controlled environments utilizing network operation and provisioning across the network industry. Currently development is underway along with the deployment of PTN equipment and configuration for provisioning is being phased out. It is actively introducing establishment of SDN-based control system while constructing provisioning of PTN equipment from actual commercial network. Therefore, in this thesis, we are going to look at the contents and trends of SDN systems in packet-based transmission networks based on PTN and use them in research on OpenDaylight, an open source for configuring SDN. It then Network Operator will study the software defined control techniques for operational education.

The differentiated service architecture is based on a simple model by applying a per-class service in the core node of the network. However, due to the simplified network behavior, the network structure and provisioning were more complicated. If a service provider wants the dynamic provisioning or better bandwidth guarantee, signaling protocol with QoS parameters or admission control method should be deployed in DiffServ network. However, these methods increase the complexity. Therefore, we proposed DPM2 mechanism for admission control in the DiffServ network. In this paper, we describe and survey the admission control methods that are applicable to IP networks and propose also the dynamic provisioning mechanism based on the bandwidth broker and distributed measurement based admission control and movable boundary bandwidth management to support heterogeneous QoS services in differentiated service networks. For the performance evaluation for proposed mechanism, we used ns-2 simulator.

Recently, SDN and NFV technology have been developed actively and provide enormous flexibility of network provisioning. The future network services would generally involve many different types of services such as hologram games, social network live streaming videos and cloud-computing services, which have dynamic service requirements. To provision networks for future services dynamically and efficiently, SDN/NFV orchestrators must clearly understand the service requirements. Currently, network provisioning relies heavily on QoS parameters such as bandwidth, delay, jitter and throughput, and those parameters are necessary to describe the network requirements of a service. However it is often difficult for users to understand and use them proficiently. Therefore, in order to maintain interoperability and homogeneity, it is required to have a service abstraction layer between users and orchestrators. The service abstraction layer analyzes ambiguous user's requirements for the desired services, and this layer generates corresponding refined services requirements. In this paper, we present our initial effort to design a Smart Service Abstraction Layer (SmSAL) for future network architecture, which takes advantage of machine learning method to analyze ambiguous and abstracted user-friendly input parameters and generate corresponding network parameters of the desired service for better network provisioning. As an initial proof-of-concept implementation for providing viability of the proposed idea, we implemented SmSAL with a decision tree model created by learning process with previous service requests in order to generate network parameters related to various audio and video services, and showed that the parameters are generated successfully.

Proper management on user-driven virtual circuits (VCs) is essential for seamless operation of virtual networks. The Network Provisioning System (NPS) is useful software for creating user-driven VCs automatically and must take fault management into account for physical layer impairments on user-driven VCs. This paper addresses a user-driven and trusty protection management in an NPS with an open standard Network Service Interface (NSI), as a contribution to show how to implement the user-driven and trusty protection management required for user-driven VCs. In particular, it provides a RESTful web service Interface for Configuration and Event management (RICE) that enable management of a distinguished data and control plane VC status between Network Service Agents (NSAs) in the event of a node or link fault and repair in a domain. This capability represents a contribution to show how network and protection events in a domain can be monitored between NSAs (NPSs with the NSI) in multiple domains. The implemented NPS controls and manages both the primary and backup VC with disjoint path in a user-driven manner. A demonstration to verify RICE API's capability is addressed for the trusty protection in the dynamic VC network.
Among the resource provisioning mechanisms for the hose based Virtual Private Network (VPN) Quality of Service (QoS ), VPN-specific state provisioning allows the service provider to obtain highest resource multiplexing gains. However, dynamic and automatic resource reservation for the VPN-specific state provisioning is difficult due to the lack of appropriate resource reservation protocol. Furthermore, users of a VPN may experience unfair usage of resources among themselves since the reserved resources of a VPN are shared by the VPN users in a similar way that the traditional LAN bandwidth is shared by the attached hosts. In this paper, we propose a resource reservation protocol and a traffic service mechanism, which not only enable dynamic and automatic resource reservation according to the VPN-specific state provisioning algorithm, but also enforce the fair usage of reserved resources among the users of a VPN in case of congestion.
