  • VANET has several different characteristics from MANET such as high mobility of nodes and frequent change of node density and network topology. Due to these characteristics, the network topology based protocol, often used in MANET, can not be applied to VANET. In this paper, we propose an emergency warning message broadcast protocol using range based relay node selecting algorithm which determines the minimal waiting time spent by a given node before rebroadcasting the received warning message. Because the time is randomly calculated based on the distance between sender node and receiver node, a node chosen as a relay node is assured to have a minimal waiting time, even though it is not located at the border of radio transmission range. The proposed emergency warning message broadcast protocol has low network traffic because it does not need to exchange control messages for message broadcasting. In addition, it can reduce End-to-End delay under circumstances of low node density and short transmission range in VANET.

  • Intrusion detection system(IDS) has recently evolved while combining signature-based detection approach with anomaly detection approach. Although signature-based IDS tools have been commonly used by utilizing machine learning algorithms, they only detect network intrusions with already known patterns, Ideal IDS tools should always keep the signature database of your detection system up-to-date. The system needs to generate the signatures to detect new possible attacks while monitoring and analyzing incoming network data. In this paper, we propose a new outlier cluster detection algorithm with density (or influence) function, Our method assumes that an outlier is a kind of cluster with similar instances instead of a single object in the context of network intrusion, Through extensive experiments using KDD 1999 Cup Intrusion Detection dataset. we show that the proposed method outperform the conventional outlier detection method using Euclidean distance function, specially when attacks occurs frequently.

  • The purpose of this study is to find the research trends relating to flipped learning through keyword network analysis. For investigating this topic, final 100 papers (removed due to overlap in all 205 papers) were selected as subjects from the result of research databases such as RISS, DBPIA, and KISS. After keyword extraction, coding, and data cleaning, we made a 2-mode network with final 202 keywords. In order to find out the research trends, frequency analysis, social network structural property analysis based on co-keyword network modeling, and social network centrality analysis were used. Followings were the results of the research: (a) Achievement, writing, blended learning, teaching and learning model, learner centered education, cooperative leaning, and learning motivation, and self-regulated learning were found to be the most common keywords except flipped learning. (b) Density was .088, and geodesic distance was 3.150 based on keyword network type 2. (c) Teaching and learning model, blended learning, and satisfaction were centrally located and closed related to other keywords. Satisfaction, teaching and learning model blended learning, motivation, writing, communication, and achievement were playing an intermediary role among other keywords.

  • In wireless sensor networks, one of the most important goals of designing protocols is to extend the network lifetime. A node has lots of duplication in sensing and communication range with surrounding nodes after many of nodes are randomly scattered. Such a heavy duplication overhead affects on the network lifetime seriously so usually all nodes need not activated constantly to carry out sensing and communication operation. One of the optimal methods of prolonging the network lifetime is finding the number of surrounding nodes necessary to maintain the network coverage and connectivity. It has been studied till the current date in wireless networks. If the neighbor necessary can be acquired to satisfy the probability using the ideal number of neighbors necessary and the acquired number of neighbors m to guarantee network coverage and connectivity. We use the result that F. Xue et al and S. Song et al derive previously in finding the neighbor necessary to guarantee the network connectivity and cany out the computer simulation to verify the necessary number. We present that our scheme satisfy the network coverage and connectivity. We present the simulation results compared with constant probability scheme through computer simulation.

  • A cross-cultural comparison of social networking structure on McDonald's Facebook fan sites between Taiwan and the USA was conducted utilizing the individualism/collectivism dimension proposed by Hofstede. Four network indicators are used to describe the network structure of McDonald's Facebook fan sites: size, density, clique and centralization. Individuals who post on both Facebook sites for the year of 2012 were considered as network participants for the purpose of the study. Due to the huge amount of data, only one thread of postings was sampled from each month of the year of 2012. The final data consists of 1002 postings written by 896 individuals and 5962 postings written by 5532 individuals from Taiwan and the USA respectively. The results indicated that the USA McDonald's Facebook fan network has more fans, while Taiwan's McDonald's Facebook fan network is more densely connected. Cliques did form among the overall multiplex and within the individual uniplex networks in two countries, yet no significant differences were found between them. All the fan networks in both countries are relatively centralized, mostly on the site operators.

  • This exploratory study analyzed the structure of collaborative network among small libraries. The survey was conducted with the small libraries in Bucheon region. In order to analyze the structural features of the network, this study used social network analysis methods. The results of the study indicate that public small libraries has high density networks with other small libraries and performed a central role in the whole network. Private small libraries were, however, isolated in the whole network indicating their weak collaboration with other small libraries.

  • Recent studies on network coding scheme for increasing transmission efficiency of the network has been actively conducted. In this paper, we apply RLNC in sub-packet unit and propose a joint scheme of sub-packet level network coding and LDPC code. The proposed method can have similar ability of network coding and obtain further error correction capability. The simulation results show that the proposed one enhances error correction capability compared to the case using only LDPC when extra packets are received.

  • To connect a mobile ad hoc network (MANET) with an IP network and to carryout communication, ad hoc network node needs to be configured with unique IP adress. Dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server autoconfigure nodes in wired networks. However, this cannot be applied to ad hoc network without introducing some changes in auto configuration mechanism, due to intrinsic properties (i.e., multi-hop, dynamic, and distributed nature) of the network. In this paper, we propose a scalable autoconfiguration scheme for MANETs with hierarchical topology consisting of leader and member nodes, by considering the global Internet connectivity with minimum overhead. In our proposed scheme, a joining node selects one of the pre-configured nodes for its duplicate address detection (DAD) operation. We reduce overhead and make our scheme scalable by eliminating the broadcast of DAD messages in the network. We also propose the group leader election algorithm, which takes into account the resources, density, and position information of a node to select a new leader. Our simulation results show that our proposed scheme is effective to reduce the overhead and is scalable. Also, it is shown that the proposed scheme provides an efficient method to heal the network after partitioning and merging by enhancing the role of bordering nodes in the group.

  • With the acceleration of regional economic integration, the agricultural trade network within the RCEP region presents new opportunities and challenges for member countries. This study focuses on agricultural trade among RCEP members from 2011 to 2020, utilizing social network analysis to explore the structural characteristics and evolutionary trends of the trade network. Additionally, an extended gravity model is employed to empirically analyze the key factors influencing South Korea's agricultural trade with other member countries. The findings reveal that: (1) Agricultural trade relationships within the RCEP region are stable and mature, with high interconnectivity in the trade network, indicating a trend towards balanced development. (2) The positions of member countries within the agricultural trade network are characterized by both high density and heterogeneity. (3) South Korea's agricultural trade with RCEP member countries is positively influenced by the economic size, population size, and governance level of its trading partners, while South Korea's own indicators show no significant effect. The trade distance between South Korea and member countries also has a positive impact on agricultural trade. By combining social network analysis with an extended gravity model, this study provides a multi-faceted quantitative analysis of the RCEP agricultural trade network, offering new insights into regional agricultural trade. It also provides empirical evidence for agricultural trade cooperation between South Korea and other RCEP countries.
