  • Aphelenchoides nonveilleri $Andr{\acute{a}}ssy$, 1959, belonging to the family Aphelenchoididae Skarbilovich, 1947, is first reported from South Korea. The genus Aphelenchoides Fischer, 1894 includes about 200 species worldwide, but to date only nine Aphelnechoides species have been reported from South Korea. Specimens of A. nonveilleri were collected from the roots and shoot tips of chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat, 1792) from a greenhouse. This species is distinguished from other Aphelenchoides species by its star-shaped mucro on the female tail tip, three lateral incisures, and the length of the post-vulvar uterine sac. Here we provide details of the morphological characters and morpometrics of A. nonveilleri based on optical microscopy.

  • The genus Eucephalobus Steiner, 1936, belonging to the family Cephalobidae Filipjev, 1934 (Cephalobomorpha), represents a group of bacterial feeding nematodes. Although this group is cosmopolitan and species-rich, only two species have been reported from South Korea. Eucephalobus iaculocaudatus Bostrom and Holovachov, 2011 was collected from natural forest in Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. This species shows typical morphological characters of the genus Eucephalobus, including a bicornuate labial probolae, cephalic probolae absent and three lateral incisures. However, E. iaculocaudatus is distinguished from other Eucephalobus species by conoid tail with a harpoon-shape mucro in female and ragged mucro in male. In this study, detailed morphological characters and morphometrics of E. iaculocaudatus are described and illustrated based on optical microscopy.

  • The genus Acrobeloides(Cobb, 1924) Thorne, 1937 are bacterial feeders and are one of the most abundant and widely distributed nematode groups in various terrestrial environments. Based on morphological and morphometric analyses, we found two Acrobeloides species reported in Korea for the first time: A. bodenheimeri (Steiner, 1936) Thorne, 1937 and A. tricornis (Throne, 1925) Thorne, 1937. These species exhibit morphological characters concordant with typical features of the genus Acrobeloides, such as a fusiform pharyngeal corpus with swollen metacorpus and lateral incisures extending to the tail terminus. However, A. bodenheimeri is distinguished from other acrobeloids by having its low and rounded labial probolae, distinct post-uterine sac and five lateral incisures. Acrobeloides tricornis is distinguished from its congeners by the following characteristics: its high labial probolae with acuate termini, inconspicuous post-uterine sac and five lateral incisures. Morphological characters and their measurements, and illustrations of A. bodenheimeri and A. tricornis are described in this study.

  • This study describes the first record of Bourgelatia diducta (Nematoda: Chabertiidae) from wild boars in the Republic of Korea (=South Korea). Gastrointestinal tracts of 87 Korean wild boars (Sus scrofa coreanus) hunted in mountains in the south-western part of South Korea between 2009 and 2012 were examined for their visceral helminths. B. diducta, as identified by morphological characteristics of the head and tail, were recovered from the large intestine of 47 (54%) wild boars. The average length of adult female worms was $11.3{\pm}0.872$ mm and the thickest part of the body measured $0.54{\pm}0.04$ mm in maximum width, while those of males were $9.8{\pm}0.72$ and $0.45{\pm}0.03$ mm, respectively. The characteristic J-shaped type II ovejector was observed in females, and the type II dorsal ray with 2 rami on each side of the median fissure was uniquely seen in males. The buccal capsule was small, relatively thin-walled, cylindrical, very short, and ring-shaped. The externodorsal ray arose from a common stem with the dorsal ray. The cervical groove was absent. The anterior extremity was equipped with 20-22 external corona radiata, 4 cephalic papillae and 2 lateral amphids around the mouth. The eggs were $66.0{\times}38.9{\mu}m$ in average size. By the present study, B. diducta (Nematoda: Chabertiidae) is recorded for the first time in South Korea. Additionally, morphological characteristics and identification keys provided in the present study will be helpful in the faunistic or taxonomic studies for strongylid nematodes related.
