  • The domestic liquefied natural gas project has been carried out as a national energy scheme since the late 1980's in Korea. The natural-gas supply for civilian demand is limited to the Kyung-In area. In addition, seven major city gas corporations which now participate in the project occupy the monopolistic service area. In this study, objective cost evaluation criteria for gas distribution and an improved proposal in the evaluation method are suggested. They will go forward in solving the problems to promote demand and prevent excess profit or deficit according to the physical characteristics of the monopolistic service area.

  • The 4 sets of environmental variables dealing with meteorology, hydrology and physiography were analyzed to generate a spatial drought risk index of Phitsanulok province of Thailand. The analysis of K-mean and discriminant were applied to the set of the selective drought variables for grouping each of spatial variable set into 4 classes. The obtained 4 classes, based on group statistics, were thus recoded in the meaning of no risk, low risk, moderate risk, and high risk. The regression coefficient between recoded classes and a set of the selective environmental variables were then applied as spatial variable weighting on thematic dataset in GIS spatial analysis. The results showed that the weighting score of drought variable was highest in meteorological variable compared to other variables.

  • 2-Bromopropane (2-BP) is a major component of the mixture of SPG-6AR and Solvent 5200 that is a substitute of chlorofluorocarbon. Many female workers exposed to 2-bromopropane in a Korean electronic company were found to have amenorrhea and male workers were diagnosed with oligospermia. In the present studies, immunotoxic effects of 2-BP and an analog, 1,2-dibromopropane (1 ,2-DBP), were investigated in female BALB/c mice. (omitted)

  • In this paper, we examine the institutional prices differences in the electricity and natural gas industries using unbalanced panel data from 1999 to 2001. The changing market structures following deregulation in both markets allow us to examine the institutional prices differences by ownership type, market structure and merger activities. Estimating the reduced form, after controlling both intrinsic characteristic (marginal costs) and external factors (demand), allows us to identify the extent to which specific factors are correlated with the price. Furthermore it allows us to identify systematic institutional price differences in both electricity and natural gas markets. Our estimation results suggest that the private firms in electricity markets are associated with higher prices than public firms after controlling for demand and cost. We further find that dual-product firms in the natural gas industry and the electricity industry are associated with lower rates than single product firms. These results provide a weak evidence of economies of scope in the dual-product firms. Our results finally suggest that merger activities in natural gas markets are associated with higher rates.

  • Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a significant shift in the lifestyle patterns of the populace across various domains. Concerns surrounding COVID-19 have emerged as pivotal catalysts of change in recreational habits with people giving a particular preference for environments with low population density and increased openness. This trend has resulted in an uptick in excursions to natural reserves, coastlines, and parks. However, during the peak of infectious outbreaks, widespread adherence to social distancing measures has precipitated a steep decline in tourist footfall across natural recreation forests, exacerbating financial deficits to a considerable extent. Thus, this research sought to compare and analyze the operational efficacy and productivity of national, public, and private natural recreation forests pre- and post-COVID-19 pandemic by utilizing non-parametric methodologies, such as data envelopment analysis and the Malmquist productivity index analysis. The objective was to identify the factors contributing to the decreases in efficiency and productivity and ultimately offer nuanced recommendations tailored to respective administrative bodies. This study's distinctive focus on the analysis of management efficiency and productivity in natural recreation forests nationwide offers significant academic and practical relevance.

  • High oil prices and high demand supporting IOC move to frontier and NOC evolution. Most frontier area reserves are in NOC territory. IOCs need to be able to manage relationships with NOCs in order to be successful. They need to tune into what NOC priorities are. NOCs have different priorities depending on whether they are resource rich or resource poor. IOCs need to recognize $NOCs^{\circ}{\emptyset}$ priorities and differentiate themselves by using them when talking to NOCs.

  • The modern people spend more time with heir family on weekends, and this changed the perspective toward leisure and tourism. Along with this, the recognition toward tourism resources have underwent various modifications with the increasing number of family tourists. Caves are categorized as lava tube (formed by volcano activity), lime stone cave(formed by absorption of water into underground level), sea cave (formed by wave erosion) and artificial cave that were made for the fluent traffic activity of railways or roads. Caves manifest characteristics of tourism as a natural resources and tourism as a humanity study, so caves are valuable as a multipurpose tourism resource.

  • Medical Subject Headings (MeSH), a medical thesaurus created by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), is a useful resource for natural language processing (NLP). In this article, the current status of the Japanese version of Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) is reviewed. Online investigation found that Japanese-English dictionaries, which assign MeSH information to applicable terms, but use them for NLP, were found to be difficult to access, due to license restrictions. Here, we investigate an open-source Japanese-English glossary as an alternative method for assigning MeSH IDs to Japanese terms, to obtain preliminary data for NLP proof-of-concept.

  • Column chromatographic separation of the MeOH extract from the roots of Dicentra spectabilis yielded fourteen compounds, menisdaurin (1), menisdaurilide (2), trans-N-p-coumaroyltyramine (3), trans-N-p-feruloyltyramine (4), 4-O-feruloylquinicacid (5), chlorogenic acid (6), 3-O-feruloylquinicacid (7), ferulic acid (8), protopine (9), Kaempferol 3,7-di-O-${\beta}-{\text\tiny{D}}$-glucopyranoside (10), kaempferol 3-O-${\beta}-{\text\tiny{D}}$-glucopyranosyl-7-O-${\alpha}-{\text\tiny{L}}$-rhamnopyranoside (11), ${\alpha}-rhamnoisorobin$ (12), astragalin (13), and nicotiflorin (14). Their structures were determined on the basis of NMR spectroscopic data. Among them, compound 1, 3-8, and 10-14 isolated from this plant were reported for the first time. The isolated compounds (1-14) were tested for nitric oxide (NO) inhibitory activity on lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RAW 264.7 cells. Compound 3, 4 and 12 significantly inhibited NO production. Moreover, Compound 3 suppressed pro-inflammatory cytokines ($TNF-{\alpha}$, $IL-1{\beta}$ and IL-6) in a dose- dependent manner. These data suggest that compound 3 possess anti-inflammatory activity and might be useful natural materials for development of anti-inflammatory agent.
