  • To control western flower thrips (Frankliniella occidentalis), a significant pest of peppers, the control effects of eco-friendly agricultural materials were tested when treated alone and in combination. The control effects of yellow sticky roll traps installed on the stem, predatory natural enemy (Hypoaspis miles) inoculated on the stem, and plant extracts (50% custard apple seed oil + 10% cinnamon extract) sprayed on the foliage were 45.3%, 36.6%, and 50.2%, respectively, when treated individually. Meanwhile, when three eco-friendly agricultural materials were comprehensively applied, the control effect was maintained between 62.4% and 80.9% compared to untreated conditions during the pepper harvesting season. These methods can be utilized for the eco-friendly control of western flower thrips in pepper greenhouses.

  • The objective of this study was to use the Lanchester equation to predict the outcome of our engagement between our unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) (Blue Group) and enemy UAV (Red Group). Lanchester's law states that the power of corps is proportional to the number of combatants. A second law states that the power of corps is proportional to the square of the number of combatants. The first law is a suitable law for guerrilla warfare while the second law is known as the law suitable for all-out war. Therefore, the second law is commonly used. The second law of Lanchester's was used in this study to predict engagement results. We estimated the battle loss rate value to win the battle as well as the required power number. We also predicted power number to make the damage of our group less than one. The battle loss rate to reliably receive victory when the enemy's UAV and the ally's UAV are equal in number of combat units must be 1: 1.5 or more.

  • This study was conducted to mvestigate the natural enemies of chestnut gall wasp, Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu and their seasonal prevalence of adult emergence. The natural enemies Identified were as follows: Torymus sinensis, Torymus geranii, Eutytoma Brunniventris, Eurytoma s Setlgera, Megastigmus nipponicus, Megastigmus maculipennis, Ormyrus flavrtrbwlis, Ormyrus punctiger, Eupelmus urozonus, Euplmus sp., Sycophila vanegata, and Diptem sp. Among these natural enemies of the chestnut gall wasp, Torymus sinensis, Eurytoma setigem, and Eupelmus sp. were newly recorded this time In Korea. The seasonal prevalence of parasItic wasps have been investigated in Kyonggi ProvInce. Torymus sinensis which seems to be the most dominant parasitoid emerged from withered galls formed in the previous year April to eary May. The four parasitoids such as Torymus geranii, Sycophila variegata, Eupelmus urozonus and Eupelmus sp. emerged from withered previous year galls in April to May and also from current year galls in June to August. The other parasitoids emerged from only current year galls in June to August.

  • In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of the mathematical model of two non-interacting preys in presence of their common natural enemy (predator) based on the non-autonomous differential equations. We establish sufficient conditions for the permanence, extinction and global stability in the general non-autonomous case. In the periodic case, by means of the continuation theorem in coincidence degree theory, we establish a set of sufficient conditions for the existence of a positive periodic solutions with strictly positive components. Also, we give some sufficient conditions for the global asymptotic stability of the positive periodic solution.

  • The genus Microplitis (Braconidae: Microgastrinae) is reported for the first time from Korea. The Microplitis has often quite small hypopygium, very short ovipositor and rugose propodeum with large aleola. The genus contains 190 described species, among them 19 speceis were recorded in Korea. Microplitis varicolor was established by Viereck in 1917. The species is found as new to Korea in this study. Microplitis varicolor is endoparasitoid, especially attacking species of Noctuidae (Insecta: Lepidoptera) including pests of leguminous crop. In this study, diagnosis, photographs and host lists are included.

  • The operation Move is defined in Chomsky (1999, 2000) as a composite operation consisting of three components: Agree, Identify and Merge, taking Agree as a necessary condition for Move. Therefore, I call this definition of Move as the Agree-based Move. In this paper, I argue that the Agree-based approach to Move cannot be maintained; I claim that the Selection-based approach to Move, in which the EPP-feature is analyzed as an s-selectional property of a head, offers a more natural account of the sentences under consideration. I believe that the three components of Move as defined in (6) happen to co-occur in the derivation of certain sentences, as the composite transformation called Passivization does in the derivation of a passive sentence like “the city was destroyed by the enemy.” On the basis of these observations, I conclude that Agree and Move should be regarded as separate computational operations; the task of Agree is to erase uninterpretable features of both probe and goal, and that of Move is to satisfy the EPP-feature, which should be taken as an s-selectional feature.

  • In this paper, a stage-structured predator-prey system with impulsive perturbations and time delays is presented to investigate the ecological problem of how a pest population and natural enemy population can coexist. Sufficient conditions are obtained using a discrete dynamical system determined by a stroboscopic map, which guarantee that a 'predator-extinction' periodic solution is globally attractive. When the impulsive period is longer than some time threshold or the impulsive harvesting rate is below a control threshold, the system is permanent. Our results provide some reasonable suggestions for pest management.
