  • Natural gas hydrate typically contains 85 wt.% water and 15 wt.% natural gas, and commonly belongs to cubic structure I and II. When referred to standard conditions, 1 ㎤ solid hydrate contains up to 200㎥ of natural gas depending on pressure and temperature. Such the large volume of natural gas hydrate can be utilized to store and transport a large quantity of natural gas in a stable condition. In the present investigation, experiments were carried out for the formation of natural gas hydrate governed by pressure, temperature, gas compositions, etc. The results show that the equilibrium pressure of structure II is approximately 65% lower and the solubility is approximately 3 times higher than structure I. It is also found that for the sub-cooling of structure I and II of more than 9 and 11 K respectively, the hydrates are rapidly being formed. It is noted that utilizing nozzles for spraying water in the form of droplets into the natural gas dramatically reduces the hydrate formation time and increases its solubility at the same time.

  • In this paper the effect of prestressing force on the first flexural natural frequency of beams is studied. Finite element technique is used to model the beam-tendon system, and the prestressing force is applied in the form of initial tension in the tendon. It is shown that the effect of prestressing force on the first natural frequency depends on bonded and unbonded nature of the tendon, and also on the eccentricity of tendon. For the beams with bonded tendon, the prestressing force does not have any appreciable effect on the first flexural natural frequency. However, for the beams with unbonded tendon, the first natural frequency significantly changes with the prestressing force and eccentricity of the tendon. If the eccentricity of tendon is small, then the first natural frequency decreases with the prestressing force and if the eccentricity is large, then the first flexural natural frequency increases with the prestressing force. Results of the present study clearly indicate that the first natural frequency can not be used as an easy indicator for detecting the loss of prestressing force, as has been attempted in some of the past studies.

  • The main purpose of this exploratory research was to examine the characteristics of consumers who patronize natural-dyed clothes and their perceptions regarding natural-dyed clothes. Thirty three participants who have worn natural-dyed clothes were interviewed for the study. They were asked about the styles and price of natural-dyed clothes they owned, their evaluation on them, and the lifestyles of themselves. Existence of subculture among the interviewes and its characteristics were also probed. The results indicated that natural-dyed clothes are relatively high-priced, mostly of modified hanbok style, and became popular in recent years. Interviewees frequently mentioned uniqueness and comfort as the main benefits of natural-dyed clothes, and expressed dissatisfaction regarding color fastness, easy care and problem of coordination. The consumers of natural-dyed clothes appeared to have strong preferences for environment conservation and Korean traditional culture. They also seemed to form a subcultural group who have commonality in their involvement in Korean cultural activities, mainly tea ceremony.

  • As chemistry dyes has considerably developed with industrial society, natural dyeing has gone out of people's head for a long time. But the serious problems from environmental pollutions and ecological damages make people look far Well-being. Natural dyeing also has concentrated again and the interests about it are growing larger and larger. Well-being that a modern person pursues and a Natural dyeing walk along a same string of connection. That is, people want their life to change from quantity matters into qualities. The relations of the natural dying which has the color of nature and Well-being phenomenons are analyzed through dissertations and references. The study about the correlations between natural dying and well-being shows that many advantages of natural dyestuff and the effects of dyestuff are definitely needed to people living in modern times. Also for the protection of an ecosystem, rapid popularization and the development of new design is completely required.
