Background: Dementia is a condition in which a person who has been living a normal life suffers from various cognitive impairments in memory, words, and judgment that considerably disrupt daily life. The oral care ability and subjective oral status of elderly individuals with dementia are lower than those of a healthy person. The oral health care of individuals admitted to nursing homes inevitably falls to nursing assistants and nursing care staff. This study aimed to investigate the need for oral health management items of and to provide basic direction for the future of the Dementia National Responsibility System. Methods: Elders aged 65 years and over were selected from a comprehensive welfare center. A total of 155 questionnaires were analyzed. The questionnaire consisted of 15 items about general status, 9 items about recognition of the Dementia National Responsibility System, 5 items of the subjective recognition of oral health, and 6 items of the correlation between oral health and dementia. Results: Among our subjects, 71.0% answered that they did not know about the Dementia National Responsibility System, 78.7% answered that they think they need the system, and 81.9% think that they should add dental health items to the Dementia National Responsibility System. The response to the need for dementia national responsibility, oral health items in the Dementia National Responsibility System, and oral specialists all showed scores of >4 points. The need for the Dementia National Responsibility System, oral health items, and specialists were found. Conclusion: It is necessary to include oral health care items in the Dementia National Responsibility System so that elderly individuals with dementia can receive the needed oral health care.

Purpose : This study was conducted to provide basic data for the association's policy management and to improve the activity areas by investigating Gyeonggi-do physical therapists' recognition of the national responsibility for dementia. Methods : A total of 1,839 physical therapists participated in this survey, and the data from a total of 29 questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 windows. Results : Among the physical therapists in Gyeonggi-do, 61.1 % had low awareness of the national responsibility for dementia, and the recognition of the center for dementia was also low. On the other hand, there was a remarkably high opinion that the physical therapist was a necessary workforce, and positive responses to dementia-related work and education participation were also high, 51.9 % and 68.5 %, respectively. Those with a high educational background, annual salary, clinical experience, or dementia-related institutions, such as nursing homes and physical therapy, had a high awareness of "dementia national responsibility", awareness of "center for dementia" and "participation in dementia-related work and education". On the other hand, "work participation" and "education participation" were found to be inversely related to age and clinical experience. Conclusion : Physical therapists based in Gyeonggi-do showed an awareness of dementia policy. This result will help the association's policy management and protect the physical therapist's rights and interests.

Background and Purpose: The National Responsibility Policy for Dementia Care was implemented in September 2017 in Korea. This study aimed to compare dementia incidence in Seoul and Gangwon-do before and after the implementation of this policy. Methods: We extracted insurance claim data from the Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service for people diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension, or dyslipidemia for the first time in Seoul and Gangwon-do, Korea. We defined two enrollment groups based on the policy implementation date: 1) January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2016 (Index 1, pre-implementation), and 2) January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2018 (Index 2, post-implementation). Each group was followed up for 1 year from the time of enrollment. Then, we calculated hazard ratios to compare the incidence of dementia between the two groups, and between Seoul and Gangwon-do. Results: In Seoul, the incidence of dementia was significantly lower in Index 2 than in Index 1 (hazard ratio [HR], 0.926; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.875-0.979). However, the incidence rate did not differ between the 2 groups (HR, 1.113; 95% CI, 0.966-1.281) in Gangwon-do. In Index 1, the incidence of dementia did not differ between Seoul and Gangwon-do (HR, 1.043; 95% CI, 0.941-1.156), but in Index 2, was significantly higher in Gangwon-do than in Seoul (HR, 1.240; 95% CI, 1.109-1.386). Conclusions: After implementing the National Responsibility Policy for Dementia Care, the dementia incidence rate decreased significantly in Seoul, consistent with other studies, but not in Gangwon-do.

Many SMEs are interested in entering the dementia industry as the national dementia responsibility system begins in earnest. However, it is ambiguous about which technology and field to enter, and accordingly, it is impossible to make a quick judgment and misses the time to enter the market. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide a simple but clear information to many SMEs in this situation, which products and related technologies will be able to help product development and market entry in the dementia prevention and diagnosis technology market more easily. In this regard, I would like to suggest the direction through hierarchical analysis (AHP) through conducting with a group of experts who can make professional judgments about the development of dementia medical technology, including the four-year university senior welfare department, nurses, directors and directors of long-term care institutions, medical device workers and experts' opinions on what sectors SMEs can most effectively apply to product development to enter the dementia market.

Purpose : This study is a descriptive research study to establish basic data for stable operation of dementia relief center as a part of national responsibility system for dementia and to establish the role of the professional workforce. Methods : This study is a survey study involving 126 nurses working at 19 dementia relief centers. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 23.0. Results : The importance tasks that nurses think of were Dementia Diagnosis, Counseling, Register and Classification and Dementia Preventive Projects. In addition, tasks that showed high performance were in the order of Dementia Diagnosis, Counseling, Register and Classification, Management of Dementia subjects. As a result, the final items of work areas and contents included 45 subcategories of work content for eight work areas. Conclusion : Through this study, it was possible to investigate the overall work area and content of nurses at the Dementia relief Center. It is necessary to develop a work description suitable for nurses who are medical personnel specializing in dementia safety centers. Purpose: This study explored the adjustment experiences of spouses of elderly people with dementia in Korea. Methods: A grounded theory method was used. The data were collected by individual in-depth interviews with 11 spouses of elderly people with dementia. Results: In the analysis, 17 categories were derived. A core category emerged: Adjusting to daily life of providing love-based care. Eight major strategies for dealing with the psychosocial problems faced by spouses of elderly people with dementia: Feeling one's own responsibility in caring; halting personal activities; adopting a spouse-oriented daily lifestyle; caring with love; efforts for maintaining one's own health; efforts for maintaining spouse's health; depending on religious belief; and trying to have time for oneself. The consequences that resulted from applying these strategies were identified as "feeling worthwhile for caring," "maintaining a peaceful life," and "being grateful of the present." Conclusions: This study presents a holistic view of the adjustment experiences of spouses of elderly people with dementia. This study can also provide directions for developing interventions for enhancing the quality of life of spouses of elderly people with dementia.

The number of dementia patients in Korea is expected to increase to 3.30 million in 2050, and the cost of dementia management will increase sharply to KRW 106.5 trillion of GDP. In August 2017, the Moon Jae-in government announced the 'Dementia National Responsibility System' through a five-year plan for government operation and expanded the Dementia Peace Center nationwide. However, for this, strategic dementia-related technology development strategies should be established and given the role of government and the role of the private sector. Therefore, in order to derive the corresponding strategy, this study developed the government's 'dementia' response technology development strategy through the situation analysis from the political, economic, social, and technological perspective and the environmental (PEST) analysis of the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats (SWOT). As a result, the direction of technology development in the dementia-related medical device market is expected to become a trend of developing dementia self-measurement by developing low-cost and high-efficiency diagnostic technology products. It has been shown that the development of various products for consumers should begin. As a result, the dementia market approach strategy should be premised, the related technical support and legal restrictions should be minimized, and the education of related experts should be strengthened to solve the government's development of dementia technology and the social problems of dementia. In addition, by developing joint projects with major companies around the world and actively participating in the technology platform, it is important to naturally build up skills accumulation for the development of dementia technology and competence skills of dementia technology experts in the long term.

Dementia is major epidemic disease of the 21st century in the world. Dementia is one of the major issues in public health globally. Also in Korea, the estimated prevalence of dementia was 8.7%(0.47 million) in 2010, the number will reach the 1 million mark in 2024, it will become a 15.1%(2.71 million) by 2050. Among Koreans aged 65 or older, 725,000 are estimated to be suffering from dementia in 2017. Against dementia, Korea developed three National Dementia Plans in 2008, 2012, and 2016. The 1st plan was came into effect in 2008 and focused on prevention, early diagnostic, development and coordination of infrastructures and management, and improving awareness. The 2nd plan was launched in 2012, addressed the same priorities but had a stronger focus on supporting family members. In 2012 the Dementia Management Act established a statutory basis for organization of the National Dementia Plans. Under the Dementia Management Act, the government is required to produce a comprehensive plan for dementia every 5 years. The Act also orders that the government should register the dementia patients and collect statistics on epidemiology and the management of the dementia conditions. The Dementia Management Act of Korea required the operation of the National Institute of Dementia and Metropolitan/Provincial Dementia Centers to make and carry out dementia management plans throughout the nation. The Act also mandate to establish Dementia Counselling Centers in every public health center and the National Dementia Helpline. The 3rd National Dementia Plan of 2016 aims to build a dementia friendly community to ensure people with dementia and their carer live well. This plan focus on community-based prevention and management of dementia, convenient and safe diagnosis, treatment, and care for people with dementia, the reduction of the care burden for family care-givers of people with dementia, and support for dementia research through research, statistics and technology. In 2017, Moon's government will introduce the "National Dementia Responsibility System," which guarantees most of the burden caused by dementia. This plan include that the introduction of a ceiling on self-pay for dementia diseases, expansion of the application of dementia care standards through alleviating the support criteria for long-term care insurance for mild dementia, expansion of dementia support centers, expansion of national and public dementia care facilities. In the meantime, Korea has accomplished many accomplishments by establishing many measures related to dementia and promoting related projects in a short time, but there are still many challenges.
The purpose of this study was to investigate health status and health promoting behaviors of female elderly, and their needs for health-related services in an urban-rural combined city. The data were collected from the subjects registered in senior welfare center and senior citizens' clubs. A total of 119 women were participated in the survey. The results of the study are as follows; 1. The subjects perceived their health status relatively unhealthy. Their health promotion behavior score was 10.82 (range 0-17), and more than $60\%$ of them performed well in smoking and drinking control, regular meal. taking breakfast, and maintaining good relationship with others. 2. The most needed service was health screening followed by health risk assessment, disease diagnosis and treatment. 3. The most demanded education was on dementia prevention, followed by exercise, balanced diet, and maintenance of memorial and mental capability. 4. As the health interest and the health responsibility increased, the need for health service increased as well. Likewise, the health education needs increased as the health interest, health responsibility, and health promotion behavior increased. The results show that the health promotion programs for female elderly need to be focused, primarily, on health screening, health risk assessment, medical services for disease diagnosis and treatment, and health consulting and education. And health consulting and education programs should be designed to promote health interest and health responsibility of female elderly, change positively their attitude to aging, and include education on dementia prevention, exercise and nutrition management. Recommendations are discussed.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the awareness, interest, and needs of the occupational therapy students for the dementia care center. Methods : We conducted an online questionnaire survey of 492 occupational therapy students nationwide from July 1 to 31, 2018. General characteristics and perceptions, interests and needs were analyzed by descriptive statistics. One way ANOVA and chi-square test were conducted to compare the differences between the items according to grade and age. Results : Lower awareness was found in National Responsibility for Dementia($2.61{\pm}1.0$), Dementia Care Center($2.84{\pm}0.9$) and role of an occupational therapist in the Dementia Care Center($2.94{\pm}0.9$) of the occupational therapy students. Interest to the employment was investigated between middle and high($3.42{\pm}0.9$). Education was not sufficient($2.98{\pm}0.8$), and the adequacy of fieldwork was moderate($3.07{\pm}0.8$). Conclusion : The results of this study can be served as basic data for enhancing competence as a specialist in the dementia care center. Also, it is expected to be a help to raise awareness of the occupational therapy students.
