The recent extensive research of one-dimensional (1D) nanostructures such as nanowires (NWs) and nanotubes (NTs) has been the driving force to fabricate new kinds of nanoscale devices in electronics, optics and bioengineering. We attempt to produce silicon oxide nanowires (SiOxNWs) in a simple way without complicate deposition process, gaseous Si containing precursors, or starting material of $SiO_2$. Nickel (Ni) nanoparticles (NPs) were applied on Si wafer and thermally treated in a furnace. The temperature in the furnace was kept in the ranges between 900 and $1,100^{\circ}C$ and a mixture of nitrogen ($N_2$) and hydrogen ($H_2$) flowed through the furnace. The SiOxNWs had widths ranging from 100 to 200 nm with length extending up to ~10 ${\mu}m$ and their structure was amorphous. Ni NPs were acted as catalysts. Since there were no other Si materials introduced into the furnace, the Si wafer was the only Si sources for the growth of SiOxNWs. When the Si wafer with deposition of Ni NPs was heated, the liquid Ni-Si alloy droplets were formed. The droplets as the nucleation sites induce an initiation of the growth of SiOxNWs and absorb oxygen easily. As the droplets became supersaturated, the SiOxNWs were grown, by the reaction between Si and O and continuously dissolving Si and O onto NPs. Photoluminescence (PL) showed that blue emission spectrum was centered at the wavelength of 450 nm (2.76 eV). The details of growth mechanism of SiOxNWs and the effect of Ni NPs on the formation of SiOxNWs will be presented.
Nanowires of polytetrakis(o-aminophenyl)porphyrin (PTAPPNW) were fabricated by electrochemical polymerization with the cyclic voltammetric method in anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membranes. The glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified by PTAPPNW, single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) and Nafion as a binder was investigated with voltammetric methods in a phosphate buffer saline (PBS) solution at pH 7.4. The PTAPPNW + SWNT + Nafion/GCE exhibited strongly enhanced voltammetric and amperometric sensitivity towards hydrogen peroxide ($H_2O_2$), which shortened the response time and enhanced the sensitivity for $H_2O_2$ determination at an applied potential of 0.0 V by amperometric method. The PTAPPNW + SWNT + Nafion/GCE can be used to monitor $H_2O_2$ at very low concentrations in biological pH as an efficient electrochemical $H_2O_2$ sensor.
Hybridization of semiconductor materials with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) is a recent field of interest in which new nanodevice fabrication and applications are expected. In this work, nanowire type GaAs structures are synthesized on porous single-wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) as templates using the molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) technique. The field emission properties of the as-synthesized products were investigated to suggest their potential applications as cold electron sources, as well. The SWCNT template was synthesized by the arc-discharge method. SWCNT samples were heat-treated at $400^{\circ}C$ under an $N_2/O_2$ atmosphere to remove amorphous carbon. After heat treatment, GaAs was grown on the SWCNT template. The growth conditions of the GaAs in the MBE system were set by changing the growth temperatures from $400^{\circ}C$ to $600^{\circ}C$. The morphology of the GaAs synthesized on the SWCNTs strongly depends on the substrate temperature. Namely, nano-crystalline beads of GaAs are formed on the CNTs under $500^{\circ}C$, while nanowire structures begin to form on the beads above $600^{\circ}C$. The crystal qualities of GaAs and SWCNT were examined by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectra. The field emission properties of the synthesized GaAs nanowires were also investigated and a low turn-on field of $2.0\;V/{\mu}m$ was achieved. But, the turn-on field was increased in the second and third measurements. It is thought that arsenic atoms were evaporated during the measurement of the field emission.

Nanotechnology has beenrapidly evolved from passive nanostructures where nanostructures with steadystructures and functions often used as parts of a product to activenanostructures which change their properties during use. Startingaround 2010, it is anticipated that researchers will cultivate expertise withsystems of nanostructures, directing large numbers of intricate components tospecified needs. One dimensional (1-D) nanostructures suchas nanowires and nanotubes are extremely attractive building blocks for nextgeneration devices because of their high surface to volume ratio and uniquesize dependent properties. In addition, their extremely high aspectratio offers researchers the potentials to build axial or radialheterostructures to integrate multiple functionality from intrinsic propertiesof the material or through interfacial phenomena. Spatialmanipulation and the ability to assemble and position nanostuructures in acontrolled matter so they are registered to define spaces is also a criticalstep toward scalable integration in high density nanodevices. In thispresentation, a generalized template directed electrodeposition with ancillaryassembly, contact will be presented to synthesize axial and radialheterostructures in cost-effective matter and these individual nanostructureswill be applied to spintronics, gas and biological sensors and thermoelectrics.
Recent developments in the field of energy harvesting technology that convert ambient energy resources into electricity enable the use of self-powered energy systems in wearable and portable electronic devices without the need for additional external power sources. In particular, piezoelectric-effect-based flexible energy harvesters have drawn much attention because they can guarantee power generation from ubiquitous mechanical and vibrational movements. In response to demand for sustainable, permanent, and remote use of real-life personal electronics, many research groups have investigated flexible piezoelectric energy harvesters (f-PEHs) that employ nanoscaled piezoelectric materials such as nanowires, nanoparticles, nanofibers, and nanotubes. In those attempts, they have proven the feasibility of energy harvesting from tiny periodic mechanical deformations and energy utilization of f-PEH in commercial electronic devices. This review paper provides a brief overview of f-PEH devices based on piezoelectric nanomaterials and summarizes the development history, output performance, and applications.

This paper is about the carbon nanotube(CNT) samples called as CNT cartridges. The CNT cartridges are useful to make it better to fabricate the nano-sized devices like nanoprobes and nanotweezers through physical attachment. To make these cartridges, we need to align CNTs and to purify them from raw material. There is a variety of methods to align 1-dimensional nanostructures like nanotubes and nanowires. In this review, we mainly focused on the methods using electric field. And we will introduce various researches in relation to the CNT cartridges and the fabrication methods using the CNT cartridges and nanomanipulation techniques.

Recently, a self-organizing process that occurs during the anodization of aluminum in acidic electrolytes has attracted a vast amount of research attentions, coupled with the ever-increasing demand for the development of effective, inexpensive and technologically simple methods for the synthesis of low-dimensional nanostructures over a macroscopic area overcoming many of the drawbacks of conventional lithographic techniques. In this presentation, recent progress in the fabrication of ordered nanoporous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO), including conventional anodization techniques, newly developed pulse anodization, hard anodization processes, and generic approaches to three-dimensional pore structures with periodically modulated diameters. Discussion will also cover the applications of AAO for the development of structurally well-defined extended arrays of low-dimensional nanostructures, such as nanodots, nanotubes, and nanowires, which could be model systems in investigating a diverse range of research problems in chemistry and physics and also be starting materials in realizing advanced electronic devices.
An electrically conductive and transparent electrode was created by applying a dispersion of pristine single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) and silver nanowires to a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film using a bar coating method. The SWCNTs were added to increase the electrical conductivity and transmittance of the silver nanowires while also preventing the haze from increasing due to the stacking of multiple layers containing SWCNTs and silver nanowires on the PET substrate. The silver nanowires in the electrode were also found to be stable against oxidation. The transparent electrode displayed excellent electrical and optical properties, with a sheet resistance of 47 Ω/□, transmittance of 96.72%, and haze of 1.93%. Additionally, the sheet resistance of the electrode remained stable over time, with a change of only 6.4% after a constant temperature and humidity test, making it suitable for long-term use. A hybrid transparent electrode that is economically feasible and environmentally sustainable has been developed through the utilization of pristine SWCNT and silver nanowire.

A single-wall carbon nanotube (SWCNT) has been studied as a material of Nano-Eletro-Mechanical-System (NEMS) device together with various nanowires. In order for oscillation of a multi-wall carbon nanotube (MWCNT) or a single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) on plane surface, it needs suspension of a CNT across trench electrodes. So we propose fabrication method of a MWCNT resonator using dielectrophoresis and show successful results of suspeneded MWNT. Thin electrodes with large gaps could not suspend small diameter MWNT but thicker electrodes could. Thin MWNT could be suspended only when the electrode gap was reduced.
