Steel is generally not corrosion resistant to water with formation of non protective rusts on its surface. Rusts are composed of iron oxides such as $Fe_3O_4$, $\alpha-$, $\beta-$, $\gamma-$and ${\delta}-FeOOH$. However, steel, particularly weathering steel containing small amounts of Cu, Ni and Cr etc., shows good corrosion resistance against rural, industrial or marine environment. Its corrosion rate is exceedingly small as compared with that of carbon steel. According to the exposure test results undertaken in outdoor environments, the atmospheric corrosion rate for weathering steel is only 1 mm for a century. Atmospheric corrosion for steels proceeds under alternate dry and wet conditions. Dry condition is encountered on steel surface on fine or cloudy days, and wet condition is on rainy or snowy days. The reason why weathering steel shows superior atmospheric corrosion resistance is due to formation of corrosion protective rusts on its surface under very thin water layer. The protective rusts are usually composed of two layer rusts; the upper layer is ${\gamma}-FeOOH$ termed as lepidocrocite, and inner layer is nano-particle ${\alpha}-FeOOH$ termed as goethite. This paper is aimed at elucidating the atmospheric corrosion mechanism for steel in comparison with corrosion in bulky water environment by use of empirical data. The summary is as follows: 1. No corrosion protective rusts are formed on steel in bulky water. 2. Atmospheric corrosion for steel is the corrosion under wetting and drying conditions. Corrosion and passivation occur alternately on steel surface. Steel, particularly weathering steel with small amounts of alloying elements such as Cu, Ni and Cr etc. enhances forming corrosion protective rusts by passivation.
The liquid-phase sintering method was used to prepare a glass lens forming core composed of SiC-$Al_2O_3-Y_2O_3$. Spark plasma sintering was used to obtain dense sintered bodies. The sintering characteristics of different SiC sources and compositions of additives were studied. Results revealed that, owing to its initial larger surface area, $\alpha$-SiC offers sinterability that is superior to that of $\beta$-SiC. A maximum density of $3.32\;g/cm^3$ (theoretical density [TD] of 99.7%) was obtained in $\alpha$-SiC-10 wt% ($6Al_2O_3-4Y_2O_3$) sintered at $1850^{\circ}C$ without high-energy ball milling. The maximum hardness and compression stress of the sintered body reached 2870 Hv and 1110 MPa, respectively. The optimum ultra-precision machining parameters were a grinding speed of 1243 m/min, work spindle rotation rate of 100 rpm, feed rate of 0.5 mm/min, and depth of cut of $0.2\;{\mu}m$. The surface roughnesses of the thus prepared final products were Ra = 4.3 nm and Rt = 55.3 nm for the aspheric lens forming core and Ra = 4.4 nm and Rt = 41.9 for the spherical lens forming core. These values were found to be sufficiently low, and the cores showed good compatibility between SiC and the diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating material. Thus, these glass lens forming cores have great potential for application in the lens industry.

Commercial drivers feel tired more than the general public, because their driving times are long and they experience more idle vibration. In this study, we developed a nonlinear model of a magnetic, linear spring seat suspension to determine the optimal design to improve ride comfort. The resonant frequency for the optimal design of the suspension was found to be 3.5 Hz, and the stiffness was analyzed through displacement-load experiments. Additionally, the vibration transmissibility was analyzed by the suspension stiffness, and the existing coil spring type vibration transmissibility was found to be 0.99. A parallelogram type magnetic spring was determined to result in a better performance than the existing spring with a vibration transmissibility of 0.823.

현재까지는Indium tin oxide (ITO), zinc tin oxide (ZTO), carbon nano tube (CNT)와 polyimide 계열의 물질들이flexible, wearable, and transparent electronics (FWTEs) 소자의 electrode, active channel, dielectric layers로 제안되어 활발히 연구되었다.

Pulsed plasma는 정기적으로 radio frequency (RF) power on과 off를 반복하여 rf power가 off된 동안, 평균전자 온도를 낮춤으로써, 웨이퍼로 입사되는 전하 축적을 효과적으로 줄일 수 있다.
Friction coefficient of SM45C steel was surprisingly reduced with $H_2S$ and $C_3H_8$ gas during plasma sulf-nitriding. During the plasma sulf-nitriding, 100-700 sccm of $H_2S$ gas and 100 sccm of $C_3H_8$ gas were added and working pressure and temperature were 2 torr, $500-550^{\circ}C$, respectively. As $H_2S$ gas amount increased over 500 sccm, flake-like structures were developed on top of the nitriding layer and grain size of the nitriding layer were about 100 nm. The friction coefficient for the sample treated plasma sulf-nitriding under $N_2-H_2S$ gas was 0.4 - 0.5. The structure became more finer and amorphous-like along with $N_2-H_2S-C_3H_8$ gas and the nano-sized surface microstructures resulted in high hardness and significantly low friction coefficient of 0.2.

With the rapid progress of electronics and radio communication technology, human enjoys greater freedom in information communication. However, EMW (Electro-Magnetic Wave) environments have become more complicate and difficult to control. Thus, international organizations, such as the American National Standard Institution (ANSI), Federal Communications Commission (FCC), the Comite Internationale Special des Perturbations Radio Electrique (CISPR), etc, have provided standard for controlling the EM wave environments and for the countermeasure of the electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). In this paper, the status of EMW absorbers and the goal of smart EMW absorber in the future were described. Furthermore, design method of the smart EM wave absorber with heat radiating function was suggested. The designed smart EM wave absorber has the absorption ability of more than 20 dB from 2 GHz to 2.45 GHz band, the optimum aperture (hole) size, the adjacent hole space, and the thickness of which were 6 mm, 9 mm, and 6.5 mm, respectively. Thus, it is respected that these results can be applied as various EMC devices in electronic, communication, and controlling systems.
Recently, high growth potential of barrier materials industry including high performance packing materials was expected with increasing the national income and well-being culture. As high barrier materials, polymer nanocomposites have considerable attractions due to their excellent physical properties compared to conventional composite materials. In general, polymer nanocomposites were consisted of polymer matrix and inorganic fillers, such as layered silicate, carbon nanotubes, and metal- or inorganic nanoparticles. Among these materials, layered silicate which was called as the clay was usually used as nano-fillers because of naturally abundant and most economical and structural properties. Clay-reinforced polymer nanocomposites have various advantages, such as high strength, flammability, gas barrier property, abrasion resistance, and low shrinkage and used for automotive and packing materials. Therefore, in this paper, we focused on the need of gas barrier materials and materials-related technologies.

The present paper focuses on the fabrication of materials with higher thermal conductivity. Nanofluid is a novel transfer prepared by dispersing nanometer-sized solid particles in traditional heat transfer fluid to increase thermal conductivity and heat transfer performance. The purpose of this study is making the nano-size particle. The experiment of MWCNT and $Al_2O_3$ was carried out using a planetary ball mill at several rotation speeds: 200 ~ 400 rpm. The results were examined using scanning electron microscope(SEM). In the case of the MWCNT, it could be more grinding into the small particle in the dry condition and it confirm in the case of the $Al_2O_3$ to be more grinding into the small particle contrary to the MWCNT in the wet condition. In the mixture grinding result of MWCNT and $Al_2O_3$, the dry condition showed the good result in low rotation speed than the wet condition.

In this study, a shape-stabilized phase change material (SSPCM) was prepared by octadecane and exfoliated graphite nanoplate (xGnP) in a vacuum, to improve thermal storage performance. The octadecane as an organic phase change material (PCM) is very stable against phase separation of PCM, and has the proper temperature range for thermal comfort in the building; and the xGnP is a porous carbon nano-material. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Fourier transformation infrared spectrophotometer (FT-IR) were used to confirm the chemical and physical stability of the Ocatadecane/xGnP SSPCM. In addition, thermal properties were determined by Deferential scanning calorimeter (DSC), and Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The specific heat of Octadecane/xGnP SSPCM was $14.1J/g{\cdot}K$ at $31.3^{\circ}C$. The melting temperature ranges of melting and freezing were found to be $26{\sim}35^{\circ}C$ and $26{\sim}19^{\circ}C$, respectively. At this time, the latent heats of melting and freezing were 110.9 J/g and 104.5 J/g, respectively. The Octadecane was impregnated into xGnP by as much as about 56.0% of the Octadecane/xGnP SSPCM's mass fraction.
