  • The Aerospace and automobile industries have need to avoid sheet-metal forming problem such as incorrect springback after forming and trimming process, excessive thinning/tearing, wrinking/perkering. It is common practice to use costly trial-and-error experimental methods to develop tooling and manufacturing process parameters. Experimentation should be complemented with computer simulation to reduce cost and leadtime in manufacturing and to influence the design of components. In this study, firstly we solved the springback problem after drawing and trimming process of KFP(F100-229) engine airsealing bearing support part(53H00) forming and studied on the effect of several process parameters on the gap between the formed blank and punch shape using the implicit F.E.M code(ABAQUS). Secondly by the three dimensional dynamic analysis using the explicit. F. E. M code (LS-DYNA3D), we studied on the effect of several process parameters which can be used for avoid tearing and wrinking during the drawing process.

  • The two-dimensional deformation of a homogeneous, isotropic thermoelastic half-space with voids with variable modulus of elasticity and thermal conductivity subjected to thermomechanical boundary conditions has been investigated. The formulation is applied to the coupled theory(CT) as well as generalized theories: Lord and Shulman theory with one relaxation time(LS), Green and Lindsay theory with two relaxation times(GL) Chandrasekharaiah and Tzou theory with dual phase lag(C-T) of thermoelasticity. The Laplace and Fourier transforms techniques are used to solve the problem. As an application, concentrated/uniformly distributed mechanical or thermal sources have been considered to illustrate the utility of the approach. The integral transforms have been inverted by using a numerical inversion technique to obtain the components of displacement, stress, changes in volume fraction field and temperature distribution in the physical domain. The effect of dependence of modulus of elasticity on the components of stress, changes in volume fraction field and temperature distribution are illustrated graphically for a specific model. Different special cases are also deduced.

  • Since Mg alloy has many attractive advantages among the practically used metals, many researchers have been studied to develop useful process and material. However, study for sheet forming has not been a few because of low formability on room temperature. Formability and springback for AZ31 alloy sheet have been studied to develop the cold forming technology. The experimental and FE analysis were performed to analyzed the springback amounts by using a model of our on. A different three materials were used to investigate the effects of material characteristics. The springback amounts of Mg-alloy sheet formed part were larger than that of the other material.

  • Reanalysis of the observations of Mars made at the Hida Observatory in 1975 with a new image processing method is reported. Red filter images taken in the period before vernal equinox (areocentric longitude of the sun Ls=$0^{\circ}$) revealed dark surface features at the northern high latitudes, while blue filter images taken at the same time showed the extensive polar hood. The latitude of the northernmost feature observed was about $67^{\circ}$N. An extensive north polar cap, which is predicted by most of the existing models and observed with Viking, did not exist in our reanalyzed images obtained at the Hida Observatory in 1975.

  • A digital wave tank (DWT) simulation technique has been developed by authors to investigate the interactions of fully nonlinear waves with 3D marine structures. A finite-difference/volume method and a modified marker-and-cell (MAC) algorithm have been used, which are based on the Navier-Stokes (NS) and continuity equations. The fully nonlinear kinematic free-surface condition is implemented by the marker-density function (MDF) technique or the Level-Set (LS) technique developed for one or two fluid layers. In this paper, some applications for various engineering problems with free-surface are introduced and discussed. It includes numerical simulation of marine environments by simulation equipments, fully nonlinear wave motions around offshore structures, nonlinear ship waves, ship motions in waves and marine flow simulation with free-surface. From the presented simulations, it seems that the developed DWT simulation technique can handle various engineering problems with free-surface and reliably predict hydrodynamic features due to the fully-nonlinear wave motions interacting with such marine structures.

  • Warm deep drawability in a square cup drawing was investigated using a newly developed high-strength steel sheet with retained austenite that was transformed into martensite during formation. For this investigation, six different temperatures between room temperature and 250℃, and five different drawing ratios ranging from 2.2 to 2.6 were considered. The results showed that the maximum drawing force and the drawing depth were affected by the change in temperature, and a more stable thickness strain distribution was observed at elevated temperatures. However, blue shortness occurred at over 200℃. FEM analysis using the LS-DYNA code was used to compare the experimental results with the numerical results for the thickness strain distribution.

  • HVDC(High Voltage Direct Current) is an underwater cable between Jeju Island and Haenam in main land and supplies approximately 50% of electrical usage in Jeju Island. If there is any power failure due to HVDC, it will cost approximately 50,000 US dollars per day including Thermal Electrical Generation. Therefore it is absolutely necessary to recover the problem in rapid timely basis. In conclusion, jointing methode of HVDC cable is needed urgently to upgrade current HVDC underwater cable repair technique in Korea to minimize the cost and time factors.
