Sparse Second-Order Cone Programming for 3D Reconstruction

  • This paper presents how to minimize the second-order cone programming problem occurring in the 3D reconstruction of multiple views. The $L_{\infty}$-norm minimization is done by a series of the minimization of the maximum infeasibility. Since the problem has many inequality constraints, we have to adopt methods of the interior point algorithm, in which the inequalities are sequentially approximated by log-barrier functions. An initial feasible solution is found easily by the construction of the problem. Actual computing is done by an iterative Newton-style update. When we apply the interior point method to the problem of reconstructing the structure and motion, every Newton update requires to solve a very large system of linear equations. We show that the sparse bundle-adjustment technique can be utilized in the same way during the Newton update, and therefore we obtain a very efficient computation.

Highly Dense 3D Surface Generation Using Multi-image Matching

  • This study presents an automatic matching method for generating a dense, accurate, and discontinuity-preserved digital surface model (DSM) using multiple images acquired by an aerial digital frame camera. The proposed method consists of two main procedures: area-based multi-image matching (AMIM) and stereo-pair epipolar line matching (SELM). AMIM evaluates the sum of the normalized cross correlation of corresponding image points from multiple images to determine the optimal height of an object point. A novel method is introduced for determining the search height range and incremental height, which are necessary for the vertical line locus used in the AMIM. This procedure also includes the means to select the best reference and target images for each strip so that multi-image matching can resolve the common problem over occlusion areas. The SELM extracts densely positioned distinct points along epipolar lines from the multiple images and generates a discontinuity-preserved DSM using geometric and radiometric constraints. The matched points derived by the AMIM are used as anchor points between overlapped images to find conjugate distinct points using epipolar geometry. The performance of the proposed method was evaluated for several different test areas, including urban areas.

  • This paper presents a multiple sensor system for rapid and high-precision coordinate data acquisition in the OMM (On-machine measurement) process. In this research, three sensors (touch probe, laser, and vision sensor) are integrated to obtain more accurate measuring results. The touch-type probe has high accuracy, but is time-consuming. Vision sensor can acquire many point data rapidly over a spatial range but its accuracy is less than other sensors. Also, it is not possible to acquire data for invisible areas. Laser sensor has medium accuracy and measuring speed among the sensors, and can acquire data for sharp or rounded edge and the features with very small holes and/or grooves. However, it has range- constraints to use because of its system structure. In this research, a new optimum sensor integration method for OMM is proposed by integrating the multiple-sensor to accomplish mote effective inspection planning. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation and experimental works are performed, and the results are analyzed.

NSGA-II Technique for Multi-objective Generation Dispatch of Thermal Generators with Nonsmooth Fuel Cost Functions

  • Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II (NSGA-II) is applied for solving Combined Economic Emission Dispatch (CEED) problem with valve-point loading of thermal generators. This CEED problem with valve-point loading is a nonlinear, constrained multi-objective optimization problem, with power balance and generator capacity constraints. The valve-point loading introduce ripples in the input-output characteristics of generating units and make the CEED problem as a nonsmooth optimization problem. To validate its effectiveness of NSGA-II, two benchmark test systems, IEEE 30-bus and IEEE 118-bus systems are considered. To compare the Pareto-front obtained using NSGA-II, reference Pareto-front is generated using multiple runs of Real Coded Genetic Algorithm (RCGA) with weighted sum of objectives. Comparison with other optimization techniques showed the superiority of the NSGA-II approach and confirmed its potential for solving the CEED problem. Numerical results show that NSGA-II algorithm can provide Pareto-front in a single run with good diversity and convergence. An approach based on Technique for Ordering Preferences by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) is applied on non-dominated solutions obtained to determine Best Compromise Solution (BCS).

다목적함수(多目的函數) 최적화(最適化) 기법(技法)에 의한 격자형(格子型) 구조물(構造物)의 최적설계(最適設計) (Computer-Aided Optimal Grillage Design by Multiple Objective Programming Method)

  • From the engineering point of view, a synthesis as well as an analysis technique is explored to search for the improved design of grillage which is common in ship structure. As an approximate analysis method for the grillage, an interaction reaction method is developed and compared with the finite element method. It is found that the discrepancy between these two methods is so negligible that the percent method could be used effectively for the grillage analysis. As an optimization technique, a feasible direction method could be used is combined with the intersection reaction method in order to design a minimum weight optimal grillage. The feasible direction method shows a good numerical performance although it requires more calculation times compared with the direct search method. Finally, the application of multiple objective optimization method to grillage is investigated in order to resolve conflicts existed between the multiple objectives which is a common characteristic of structure design problem. Goal programming method is extended to handle a nonlinear property of constraints and objective functions. It seems that the nonlinear goal programming could help not only to establish a relative importance of each objective, but also enable the designer to choose the best combination of design variables.

시스템안전 관점에서의 건설안전 사고분석 정책의 효과성 및 타당성 분석 (Analysis of the Effectiveness and Feasibility of Accident Analysis Policy for Construction Safety from the Perspective of System Safety)

  • 연구목적: 건설업은 복합공정이 동시에 진행되는 복잡한 메커니즘으로 사고 발생 빈도 와 강도가 다른 산업보다 높은 비중을 차지하고 있으며, 사고 사망만인율 또한 전 산업의 50% 이상 차지하고 있다. 이런 사고 감소를 위해 정부의 재해조사 방법에 대해 시스템 안전 관점에서 한계를 분석하여 개선방안을 제시하고자 한다. 연구방법: 정부의 중대 재해조사에 대한 주요 내용을 파악하고, 시스템 안전 관점에서 효과성/타당성을 분석하였다. 연구결과: 법규 위반 및 준수에 맞춰진 재해조사 및 분석기법은 근원적인 해결방안을 제시하기에 한계가 있었으며, 안전 제약, 제어, 계층별 상호작용을 접목할 때 시스템 전체의 구성 요소별로 사고 예방을 위한 대안 제시가 가능했다. 결론:현재의 사고분석 방법에서 시스템 안전 관점의 재해조사 및 분석 방법을 접목할 때 계층별 상호작용의 문제점과 의사소통 과정의 문제점을 확인할 수 있어 통합적 관점에서 사고 예방을 위한 대안 제시가 가능하다.

다수 드론의 충돌 회피를 위한 경로점 구간 속도 프로파일 최적화 (Multiple Drones Collision Avoidance in Path Segment Using Speed Profile Optimization)

  • 다수의 드론이 운용되는 환경에서 경로점이 겹칠 때 충돌이 발생할 수 있으며 이를 대비한 충돌 회피는 필수적이다. 다수의 드론이 여러 임무를 수행하는 경우 드론의 경로가 복잡하고 충돌 예상점이 너무 많아 경로계획 단계에서 충돌을 회피하는 경로를 생성하는 방법을 사용하는 것은 적합하지 않다. 본 논문에서는 일반적으로 사용하는 경로 생성 알고리즘을 통해 경로를 생성하고, 그 경로에서 속도 프로파일 최적화를 이용한 충돌 회피 방법을 제안한다. 드론의 경로 간 충돌 예상점에서 드론 사이의 안전거리를 고려하였고, 경로 구간에 속도 프로파일을 할당하도록 설계하였다. 최적화 문제는 드론 간 거리에 대한 식을 비행시간을 변수로 두어 정의하였다. 선형화와 컨벡스화를 통해 구속 조건을 구성하고, 다수 드론 운용 환경에서 SQP(Sequential Quadratic Programming)알고리즘과 컨벡스 최적화 기법의 연산시간을 비교하였다. 마지막으로 20대 드론 운용 환경에서 컨벡스 최적화를 수행한 결과가 본 연구에서 제시한 다수 드론 운용에 적합한지 확인하였다.

Block-Level Resource Allocation with Limited Feedback in Multicell Cellular Networks

  • In this paper, we investigate the scheduling and power allocation for coordinated multi-point transmission in downlink long term evolution advanced (LTE-A) systems, where orthogonal frequency division multiple-access is used. The proposed scheme jointly optimizes user selection, power allocation, and modulation and coding scheme (MCS) selection to maximize the weighted sum throughput with fairness consideration. Considering practical constraints in LTE-A systems, the MCSs for the resource blocks assigned to the same user need to be the same. Since the optimization problem is a combinatorial and non-convex one with high complexity, a low-complexity algorithm is proposed by separating the user selection and power allocation into two subproblems. To further simplify the optimization problem for power allocation, the instantaneous signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) and the average SINR are adopted to allocate power in a single cell and multiple coordinated cells, respectively. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can improve the average system throughput and the cell-edge user throughput significantly compared with the existing schemes with limited feedback.

청소년의 치과진료기관 이용여부에 영향을 미치는 요인 (Affecting factors to using oral health of korean adolescents)

  • Objectives : This study was performed to enhance a rate of Using oral clinic and to search related factors of using oral clinics. Methods : The subjects of the study were 74,698 subjects who answered to the 2007 korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-based survey. Answers of 73,836 subjects were used for the final analysis. We used spss of version 12.0. This study conducted a Chi-square test to identify using oral clinics rate according to characteristics of subjects and a multivariate logistic regression analysis to identify whether they are independently significant. Results : Tooth scaling experiences were responded by 10,060 subjects(25.6%). Grade and metropolis, economic level had significant associations with using oral clinic experiences. The rate of using oral clinic showed significant difference in point, depending on general characteristics. Their oral health showed significant difference in point between using oral clinic experience and non-experience groups. According to the multiple logistics regression analysis whose significant independent variables were sex, grade, metropolis, economic level, blooding gum, tooth brushing, oral malodor. Conclusions : The policy is needed to prevent economic constraints from worsening oral health by supporting the poor. And our government should eventually prepare a public relation program suitable for public.

A dual approach to perform geometrically nonlinear analysis of plane truss structures

  • The main objective of this study is to develop a dual approach for geometrically nonlinear finite element analysis of plane truss structures. The geometric nonlinearity is considered using the Total Lagrangian formulation. The nonlinear solution is obtained by introducing and minimizing an objective function subjected to displacement-type constraints. The proposed method can fully trace the whole equilibrium path of geometrically nonlinear plane truss structures not only before the limit point but also after it. No stiffness matrix is used in the main approach and the solution is acquired only based on the direct classical stress-strain formulations. As a result, produced errors caused by linearization and approximation of the main equilibrium equation will be eliminated. The suggested algorithm can predict both pre- and post-buckling behavior of the steel plane truss structures as well as any arbitrary point of equilibrium path. In addition, an equilibrium path with multiple limit points and snap-back phenomenon can be followed in this approach. To demonstrate the accuracy, efficiency and robustness of the proposed procedure, numerical results of the suggested approach are compared with theoretical solution, modified arc-length method, and those of reported in the literature.
