  • In this paper, we propose an adder that can be applied to data encrypted with a fully homomorphic encryption scheme and an addition method with improved performance that can be applied when adding multiple data. The proposed arithmetic adder is based on the Kogge-Stone Adder method with the optimal circuit level among the existing hardware-based arithmetic adders and suitable to apply the cryptographic SIMD (Single Instruction for Multiple Data) function on encrypted data. The proposed multiple addition method does not add a large number of data by repeatedly using Kogge-Stone Adder which guarantees perfect addition result. Instead, when three or more numbers are to be added, three numbers are added to C (Carry-out) and S (Sum) using the full-adder circuit implementation. Adding with Kogge-Stone Adder is only when two numbers are finally left to be added. The performance of the proposed method improves dramatically as the number of data increases.

  • A novel laminated-hybrid-composite-beam (LHCB) of glass-epoxy infused with flyash and graphene is constructed for this study. The conventional mixture-rule and constitutive-relationship are modified to incorporate filler and lamina orientation. Eringen's non-local-theory is used to include the filler effect. Hamilton's principle based on fifth-order-layer-wise-shear-deformation-theory is applied to formulate the equation of motion. The analogous shear-spring-models for LHCB with multiple-cracks are employed in finite-element-analysis (FEA). Modal-experimentations are conducted (B&K-analyser) and the findings are compared with theoretical and FEA results. In terms of dimensionless relative-natural-frequencies (RNF), the dynamic-response in cantilevered support is investigated for various relative-crack-severities (RCSs) and relative-crack-positions (RCPs). The increase of RCS increases local-flexibility in LHCB thus reductions in RNFs are observed. RCP is found to play an important role, cracks present near the end-support cause an abrupt drop in RNFs. Further, multiple cracks are observed to enhance the nonlinearity of LHCB strength. Introduction of the first to third crack in an intact LHCB results drop of RNFs by 8%, 10%, and 11.5% correspondingly. Also, it is demonstrated that the RNF varies because of the lamina-orientation, and filler addition. For 0° lamina-orientation the RNF is maximum. Similarly, it is studied that the addition of graphene reduces weight and increases the stiffness of LHCB in contrast to the addition of flyash. Additionally, the response of LHCB to moving mass is accessed by appropriately modifying the numerical programs, and it is noted that the successive introduction of the first to ninth crack results in an approximately 40% to 120% increase in the dynamic-amplitude-ratio.

  • The growing interest towards ultra-wideband (UWB) communications stems from its unique features such as baseband operation, ample multipath diversity, and the potential of enhanced user capacity. But since UWB has to overlay existing narrowband systems, multiple access has to be achieved in the presence of narrowband interference (NBI). However, existing baseband spreading codes for UWB multiple access are not flexible in handling NBI. In this paper, we introduce two novel spreading codes that not only enable baseband UWB multiple access, but also facilitate flexible NBI cancellation. We construct our codes using a single carrier or multiple carriers (SC or MC), which can be implemented with standard discrete-cosine transform (DCT) circuits. With our SC/MC codes, NBI can be avoided by simply nulling undesired digital carriers. Being digital, these SC/MC codes give rise to multiband UWB systems, without invoking analog carriers. In addition, our SC/MC codes enable full multipath diversity, and maximum coding gains. Equally attractive is their capability to reduce the number of interfering users, with simple matched filter operations. Comprehensive simulations are also carried out to corroborate our analysis.

  • It is essential to estimating positions of multiple robots in order to perform cooperative task in common workspace. Accordingly, we propose a new approach of cooperative localization for multiple robots utilizing correlation among GPS errors in common workspace. Assuming that GPS data of individual robot are correlated strongly as the distance among robots are close, it is confirmed that the proposed method provides improved localization accuracy. In addition, we define two operational parameters to apply proposed method in multiple robot system. With mentioned two parameters, we present a practical solution to accumulated position error in traveling long distance.

  • In very large databases, the problem of searching for interesting information effectively is very important in terms of efficiency and flexibility. A multiple layered database approach based on AOG(attribute-oriented generalization) method is one of the useful approaches for knowledge discovery under various situations. In this paper, we propose a multiple layered database design methodology based on AOG method in object-oriented databases. In addition, we propose a dynamic schema evolution model and implementation strategy in order to continue providing information effectively in multiple layered databases.

  • This paper describes a sonic polygonal multiple reflection range sensor (SPMRS), which uses multiple reflection properties usually ignored in ultrasonic sensors as disturbances or noises. Targets such as a plane, corner, edge, or cylinder in indoor environments can easily be detected by the multiple reflection patterns obtained with a SPMRS system. Target classification and feature data extraction, such as distance and azimuth to the target, are computed simultaneously by considering the geometrical relationships between the detected targets, and finally the environment model is generated by refining the detected targets. In addition, the narrow field of view of a sonar range sensor is increased and the scanning time is reduced by active motion of the SPMRS stepping servomechanism.

  • Multiple correspondence analysis graphically shows the correspondent relationship among categories in multi-way contingency tables. It is well known that the proportions of the principal inertias as part of the total inertia is low in multiple correspondence analysis. Moreover, although this problem can be overcome by using the Benzecri formula, it is not enough to show clear correspondent relationship among categories (Greenacre and Blasius, 1994, Chapter 10). In addition, they show that Andrews' plot is useful in providing the correspondent relationship among categories. However, this method also does not give some concise interpretation among categories when the number of categories is large. Therefore, in this study, we will easily interpret the multiple correspondence analysis by applying the K-means clustering analysis.

  • This article describes a cooperative localization technique of multiple robots sharing position information of each robot. In case of conventional methods such as EKF, they need to linearization process. Consequently, they are not able to guarantee that their result is range containing true value. In this paper, we propose a method to merge the data of redundant sensors based on constraints propagation techniques on intervals. The proposed method has a merit guaranteeing true value. Especially, we apply the constraints propagation technique fusing wheel encoders, a gyro, and an inexpensive GPS receiver. In addition, we utilize the correlation between GPS data in common workspace to improve localization performance for multiple robots. Simulation results show that proposed method improve considerably localization performance of multiple robots.
