  • As tourist are becoming increasingly environmentally conscious, government and related companies need to establish policies or strategies that encourage ecotourism. The aim of this study is to analyze individual preferences and estimate shadow prices, namely, willingness to pay for coastal wetland ecotourism. This study applies a contingent choice method to measuring marginal WTP for each attribute (tour duration, number of visitors, guide, program) of coastal wetland ecotourism. The finding herein contribute to complementing the valuation methods by estimating various attributes of coastal wetland ecotourism and providing policy-makers with useful methodological framework and quantitative information in the decision-making process related to ecotourism.

  • This study demonstrates the gender difference in the factors that affect job changes and the resulting wage changes in the recent Korean labor market. By using the KEAPS (2003-2007), we found that male workers uniquely tend to stay longer at their current jobs when they have families to support. After controlling self-selection bias, we also found that wage changes resulting from switching jobs differ between male and female workers during this studied period.

  • This paper intends to provide information about whichgroups should receive particular attention from policies aimed at raising participation and employment. A detailed portrait of the diversity of non-employment is presented with description of the extent the under-represented groups stayed in situations of labor inactivity. Also, once in employment, how these groups move from one sector to another is a main interest in the analysis. Using longitudinal data (1998-2002) constructed from 'the economically active population survey', I followed individuals over a five-year period and analyzed how frequently inactive persons enter the labor market and how they change industries and statuses.

  • When studying the film industry, researchers have seldom addressed the dynamic interaction between marketing information and word of mouth in the motion picture industry mainly because of the limitation of traditional research methodologies. This study explores integration and competition among important variables influencing on audience's choice on movie selection, particularly by using a new method of agent-based modeling including competitive environment. Decision process of moviegoer composed of transition probability based on multinomial logit model, considering marketing and box-office information, critique, and word of mouth from other moviegoers. After validating the fitness of market share among released movies, this study conducted a set of simulation experiments considering several variables such as market size, change of weight between variables, and movie performance under competition. Propositions are derived from the simulation results is also suggested for future research.

  • The researches on the factors of the procurement path choices have been increased since e-procurement, a new procurement fashion, is introduced. The previous researches have not much been interested in off-line procurement paths nor the domestic small and medium enterprises (SME). In this paper, the factors of the e-procurement and off-line procurement in the domestic SME are investigated. Some independent factors are derived based on the previous works, and among them the factors are discriminated by multinomial logit analysis.

  • In this paper, we discuss suppression for logistic regression model. Suppression for linear regression model was defined as the relationship among sums of squared for regression as well as correlation coefficients of. variables. Since it is not common to obtain simple correlation coefficient for binary response variable of logistic model, we consider cumulative logistic models with multinomial and ordinal response variables rather than usual logistic model. As number of category of a response variable for the cumulative logistic model gets collapsed into binary, it is found that suppressions for these logistic models are changed. These suppression results for cumulative logistic models are discussed and compared with those of linear model.

  • Providing free primary care to everyone is an important goal pursued by many countries under universal health care programs. Countries like India need to efficiently utilize their limited capacities towards this purpose. Unfortunately, due to a variety of reasons, patients incur substantial travel and out-of-pocket expenses for getting primary care from publicly-funded facilities. We propose a set-covering optimization model to assist health policy-makers in managing existing capacity in a better way. Decision-making should consider upgrading centers with better potential to reduce patient expenses and reallocating capacities from less preferred facilities. A multinomial logit choice model is used to predict the preferences. In this article, a brief background and literature survey along with the mixed integer linear programming (MILP) optimization model are presented. The working of the model is illustrated with the help of numerical experiments.

  • Intellectual Property(IP) investment and its management are an key driver to create corporate value and intangible asset value through corporate's competitiveness. The purposes of this study are to survey capability of IP management and assess the effects of IP investment and its management on the separation into groups of intangible asset value. In order to attain those purposes of this study, sample companies were taken and categorized into three groups by the level of intangible asset value ratio, and data for IP investment such as R&D expenditure and advertising expenditure were collected from 90 manufacturing companies, and data for IP management capability about patent, design and brand were taken through survey. The final results showed as followed: First, IP management capability were generally not sufficient in the results of survey. Second, mean vector for the four variables were significantly different among three groups in multivariate analysis variance. Third, the order of their contribution to separating the groups were R&D expenditure, advertising expenditure, patent management, management of design and brand in canonical variate analysis. Fourth, R&D and patent management capability were significantly related to the separation of three groups, while advertising expenditure were not significant and management of design and brand were not sure of Significance in multinomial logit discriminant analysis. Fifth, exploratory power of the discriminant model were estimated by 53% in classification analysis. Finally, strategic policy for IP investment and its management should be taken urgently to create intangible asset value and to improve the capability of its management.

  • Recently, as shared transportation services has expanded, integrated mobility services that link personal transportation and public transportation are paid attention. To do this, it is necessary to analyze trip mode chaining behavior. This study analyzed the characteristics of the trip mode chaining behavior using the 2010 travel diary survey in Seoul, and analyzed factors to affect mode choice of trip chaining through the multinomial logit model. The transportation means were classified into passenger cars, city buses, intercity buses, railways, taxis, and others, and 25 trip mode chaining types were identified. Among them, the trip share connected between city bus and railways was the highest. It was also found that the trip mode chaining occurred mainly at commuting and in the morning and afternoon peak. According to the model results, the mode choice of trip chaining is significantly influenced by individual attributes (sex and age), household attributes (car ownership and income), trip attributes (trip purpose, trip time and trip length), and arrival area attributes (number of subway lines and bus lines, ratio of commercial area, land use mix and central region).
