Visual Perception Experiment Study on the Brand Effect - Comparison of Domestic and Imported Car Brand -

  • Conspicuous consumption is often investigated in Korea and consumers purchase a product to publicly display economic power or social status. The existing studies argue that brand loyalty and luxury brand preferences escalate conspicuous consumption, and it is important to identify different visual perception to understand irrational consumers' behavior. Car emblem as brands' visual identity represents the brand's image, mission and message. Irrational consumers thus are expected have different visual perception to the emblem or logo. To understand the impact of irrational consumer behavior on visual perception, this study explored how brand loyalty and luxury brand preferences impact on the visual perception of car emblems between Korean domestic brand and imported brand. This study used eye tracking technology to measure the respondents' attention on an emblem of the cars. Eye tracking tools analyze fixations and measure the attention on a specific area of interests (AOI). This study explored the maintaining time and frequency on AOI, as well as explored the size of pupil to identify the respondents' attention on the AOI. In this experiment, the logos of domestic cars (i.e., Hyundai and Kia) and foreign cars (i.e., Mercedes-Benz and BMW) were swapped to see how irrational consumer behavior impact on visual perception of car emblem.

  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, games played an important role in people's lives. Numerous online users flocked to the game platform, and brand companies started using online games to promote their products. Medical institutions have also implemented policies for healthy physical activity through online games. In order to attract more global game users, research on immersion in games is also very important to prevent users from leaving the platform. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the common immersion elements of popular games by country and study them from the perspective of changing devices. In this paper, representative popular games of Korea, China, and Japan, which are recently called the dark horse of the game industry, are classified by devices of mobile, online PCs, and VR games and analyzed using immersion analysis tools proposed by researcher. Next, the representative metaverse games of the Web 3.0 era were analyzed, and their characteristics were compared with the results of the immersion analysis between Korea, China, and Japan, and proposed as game immersion elements suitable for metabus games.

Empirical Risk Assessment in Major Graphical Design Software Systems

  • Security vulnerabilities have been reported in major design software systems such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, which are recognized as de facto standard design tools in most of the design industries. Companies need to evaluate and manage their risk levels posed by those vulnerabilities, so that they could mitigate the potential security bridges in advance. In general, security vulnerabilities are discovered throughout their life cycles repeatedly if software systems are continually used. Hence, in this study, we empirically analyze risk levels for the three major graphical design software systems, namely Photoshop, Illustrator and GIMP with respect to a software vulnerability discovery model. The analysis reveals that the Alhazmi-Malaiya Logistic model tends to describe the vulnerability discovery patterns significantly. This indicates that the vulnerability discovery model makes it possible to predict vulnerability discovery in advance for the software systems. Also, we found that none of the examined vulnerabilities requires even a single authentication step for successful attacks, which suggests that adding an authentication process in software systems dramatically reduce the probability of exploitations. The analysis also discloses that, for all the three software systems, the predictions with evenly distributed and daily based datasets perform better than the estimations with the datasets of vulnerability reporting dates only. The observed outcome from the analysis allows software development managers to prepare proactively for a hostile environment by deploying necessary resources before the expected time of vulnerability discovery. In addition, it can periodically remind designers who use the software systems to be aware of security risk, related to their digital work environments.

A Study on Character Design Using [Midjourney] Application

  • In recent years, the emergence of a number of AI image generation software represented by [Midjourney] has brought great impetus to the development of the field of AI-assisted art creation. Compared with the traditional hand-painted digital painting with the aid of electronic equipment, broke the traditional sense of animation character creation logic.This paper analyzes the application of AI technology in the field of animation character design through the practice of two-dimensional animation character . This is having a significant impact on the productivity and innovation of animation design and character modeling. The key results of the analysis indicate that AI technology, particularly through the utilization of "Midjourney,"enables the automation of certain design tasks, provides innovative approaches, and generates visually appealing and realistic characters. In conclusion, the integration of AI technology, specifically the application of "Midjourney," brings a new dimension to animation character design. The utilization of AI image generation software facilitates streamlined workflows, sparks creativity, and improves the overall quality of animated characters. As the animation industry continues to evolve, AI-assisted tools like "Midjourney" hold great potential for further advancement and innovation.

예비 가정과교사의 메타버스를 활용한 교수설계 역량 증진을 위한 수업 사례연구 (A Case Study on the Promotion of Instructional Design Competencies Among Preservice Home Economics Teachers in Class Using the Metaverse)

  • This paper presents a case study in which a lesson was designed and applied to enhance preservice home economics teachers' instructional design competence using the metaverse. For 15 weeks from March 6 to June 14, 14 students enrolled on the course 'Multimedia Home Economics Education' for preservice home economics teachers used the metaverse to engage in problem-based learning to solve instructional design problems in home economics classes. In accordance with the ADDIE design model, in the analysis stage, we assessed preservice home economics teachers' level of knowledge of lessons using the metaverse, and their perceptions of the possibility, necessity, and usefulness of using the metaverse in home economics lessons. In the design and development stage, lesson plans, questions for problem-based learning, assessment tools, and teaching and learning materials were developed. The implementation was conducted in parallel with training on understanding multimedia and the metaverse, and instructional design competence was evaluated through pre- and post-testing and reflection journals. The results revealed that the preservice home economics teachers acquired a good understanding of lessons using the metaverse, learned how to design lessons for self-directed learning by applying the metaverse to their home and classroom, and gained confidence in applying it to their teaching practice or in-service work. It is expected that the results of this study will be used as support materials for prospective and current home economics teachers to design home economics lessons using the metaverse, thereby expanding the horizons of home economics education.

  • 본 연구는 6시그마 DMAIC 방법론의 정의(Define)와 측정(Measure) 단계의 기법들을 활용하여 대학도서관 멀티미디어 서비스 개선에 영향을 미치는 주요 변수들을 도출하였다. 이를 위하여 S대학교 중앙학술정보관의 사례를 중심으로 현장 사서들의 브레인스토밍, X-Y Matrix와 특성요인도 작성, 도서관 홈페이지를 통한 이용자 의견 분석, 이용자 인터뷰 등을 통하여 대학도서관 멀티미디어 서비스의 프로세스를 분석하고, 핵심 품질특성을 지표화하였다. 그리고 Process Map과 특성요인도를 통하여 멀티미디어 서비스에 영향을 미치는 잠재원인변수들을 도출하고, 도출한 잠재원인변수를 X-Y Matrix와 Pareto Chart에 의하여 우선순위화하여 멀티미디어 서비스에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인으로 '자료 선정 전담자 유무', '자료 선정주기', '독립된 멀티미디어실 운영 유무', '자료 배가 방법', '인기자료 안내 여부', '입수자료 통보 여부', '신간 자료 안내 방법', '구입주문처리 방법', '주문자료 진행사항 점검 주기', '자료 신청자 유형', '자료 신청 방법', '반납 시 자료 상태 점검 여부', '소장자료 목록 안내 방법', '연체자료 회수방법'의 14개 변수를 도출하였다.

Educational Framework for Interactive Product Prototyping

  • When the design profession started, design targets were mainly static hardware centered products. Due to the development of network and digital technologies, new products with dynamic and software-hardware hybrid interactive characteristics have become one of the main design targets. To accomplish the new projects, designers are required to learn new methods, tools and theories in addition to the traditional design expertise of visual language. One of the most important tools for the change is effective and rapid prototyping. There have been few researches on educational framework for interactive product or system prototyping to date. This paper presents a new model of educational contents and methods for interactive digital product prototyping, and it's application in a design curricula. The new course contents, integrated with related topics such as physical computing and tangible user interface, include microprocessor programming, digital analogue input and output, multimedia authoring and programming language, sensors, communication with other external devices, computer vision, and movement control using motors. The final project of the course was accomplished by integrating all the exercises. Our educational experience showed that design students with little engineering background could learn various interactive digital technologies and its' implementation method in one semester course. At the end of the course, most of the students were able to construct prototypes that illustrate interactive digital product concepts. It was found that training for logical and analytical thinking is necessary in design education. The paper highlights the emerging contents in design education to cope with the new design paradigm. It also suggests an alterative to reflect the new requirements focused on interactive product or system design projects. The tools and methods suggested can also be beneficial to students, educators, and designers working in digital industries.

교육용 콘텐츠 저작을 위한 개발 툴 기능 개선 연구 (A Study on improving the Functions of Authoring Tool for Educational Contents)

  • 정보통신기술의 발전으로 교육현장에서 웹을 통해 무료로 교육 자료를 공개하고 활용하는 서비스 사례들이 늘어나고 있다. 그러나 이러한 서비스를 통해 제공되는 자료들은 대부분 완성된 형태로 제공되고 있어 교수자가 교육 목적이나 내용에 따라 자료를 개발하거나 수정해서 사용하기 어려운 실정이다. 이에 본 연구는 실사용자인 교사가 기존의 교육용 콘텐츠 개발 툴을 사용하여 콘텐츠를 개발해봄으로써 교사 입장에서의 개발 툴에 대한 요구사항 및 필요기능을 도출하고자 하였다. 그 결과, 툴에 대한 요구사항으로는 직관적 인터페이스 환경, 다양한 멀티미디어 자료 지원, 산출물 버전의 다양화 등 10가지가 도출되었으며, 필요 기능으로는 외부자원의 연결, 포맷 자동 변환 기능, 기존 문서의 사용 및 편집, 학습자 정답 작성, 숨기기 기능 등 13가지 기능이 제시되었다.

HEVC 기반 스케일러블 비디오 부호화 툴의 성능 분석 (Performance Analysis of Scalable HEVC Coding Tools)

  • 최근 HD(High Definition)화질 및 UHD(Ultra High Definition)화질과 같은 고품질 방송 서비스가 등장하고, 무선 네트워크 기술의 발달로 스마트폰, 태블릿 PC 등과 같은 휴대용 멀티미디어 기기들이 보편화됨에 따라, 비디오 콘텐츠의 전달 및 소비 환경이 다양화되고 있다. 따라서 스케일러빌러티(Scalability)의 현실적 필요성이 점점 절실해 졌으며, 시간, 공간, 화질 등의 확장성을 제공하는 Scalable Video Coding(SVC)이 등장하였다. 최근 ISO/IEC의 MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group)와 ITU-T의 VCEG(Video Coding Experts Group)이 공동으로 결성한 Joint Collaborative Team on Video Coding(JCT-VC)에 의해 Scalable High Efficiency Video Coding(SHVC) 표준이 제정되었다. 본 논문은 공간적, 시간적, 화질적 스케일러빌러티를 제공하기 위하여 SHVC의 표준에 포함된 툴 뿐만 아니라 SHVC 표준화 과정에서 논의되었던 다양한 스케일러블 부호화 툴들을 소개하고, 기존 단일 계층 부호화 방식으로 부호화한 결과와 비교하여 SHVC의 부호화 효율에 대한 성능을 분석하였다. 이러한 성능 분석은 향후 부호화 성능 향상을 위한 알고리즘 개발 및 고속 부호화기 개발을 위한 부호화 툴의 선별 및 조정에 유용할 것으로 판단된다.

학습목적의 PMP사용자에 대한 만족도 영향요인 분석 (A Study on Factors Affecting Users' Satisfaction Level in Using PMP for Learning Purpose)

  • PMP(Portable Multimedia Players)와 같은 모바일 정보기기를 학습에 활용하는 경우에는 기존 학습모델과는 차별화된 적용모델이 필요하다. PMP는 비디오, 오디오, 이미지, 사운드, 비디오 등과 같은 서로 다른 포맷의 미디어들을 저장, 이동, 플레이 하는데 융통성을 가지고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 기술수용모델을 확장하여 PMP를 학습목적에서 사용하는 사람들을 대상으로 그들의 PMP 사용과 수용에 영향을 미치는 유인요인들을 탐색하는데 있다. 온라인 서베이 분석결과, 지각된 유용성, 지각된 용이성, 플로우, 지각된 유의성이 PMP 사용 만족에 통계적으로 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 지각된 용이성과 콘텐츠 신뢰가 지각된 유용성에 유의한 영향을 가지며, 지각된 유용성, 지각된 용이성, 지각된 유희성 요인이 플로우에 유의한 영향력을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 이 과정에서 PMP를 학습에 활용하는 시사점 및 한계 등도 논의하였다.
