  • This paper proposes service mechanism for realization of Multimedia-On-demand(MOD) and implementation of a real-time MOD service through the interface of WWW environment with ATM at its backbone. As part of this proposal, we have adopted the naive ATM interface and the CM transport module, and have then implemented a WWW-based Multimedia-On-Demand. In this thesis, we have proposed WWW-based user interface using Java. CGI internet programming method. And we have implemented service mechanism through integration of Database with WWW.

  • In this paper, we present an animation sketching system using a two layered approach. Animation sketching is a popular technique to create informal animations but it is often suffered by the low-quality output due to a trade-off between convenience and complexity. Our aim is to support sketching practical animation scenes easily and fast while not complicating the simple sketching interface. The key idea is to combine two conceptual stop motion layers, a whiteboard and cutout animation layer, in a seamless interface. As a background, the whiteboard animation layer handles stroke-oriented objects, while the cutout animation layer takes charge of transform-oriented objects. We found that this approach enables users to express more complicated animation fast while still maintaining a concise sketching interface. We demonstrate the usability and flexibility through resulting animations from user experiments.

  • In this monograph, we developed a Remote Courseware Management System so we can more easily cultivate a courseware with various multimedia applications through an easy interface with the internt. In the view of Developer of view, we could develop RCMS rapidly using the application of ASP.NET and have tried to adapt ourself to the future environment using it. ASP.NET provides much richer event programming model than ASP and event processor which are executed on Server. In the view of User, they can used the Internet service with equipment that they want at any place and any time. To control any kinds of courseware for Administrator and Users, we offered a variety of Multimedia applications and an easy interface and built a new style of web courseware.

  • Neuro feedback training using ElectroEncephalo Grams (EEGs) is commonly utilized in the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Recently, BCI (Brain-computer Interface) contents have developed, not for the purpose of treatment, but for concentration improvement or brain relaxation training. However, as each user has different wave forms, it is hard to develop contents controlled by such different wave. Therefore, an EEG process that allows the ability to transform the variety of wave forms into one standard signal and use it without taking a user's characteristic of EEG into account, is required. In this paper, a framework that can reduce users' characteristics by normalizing and converting measured EEGs is proposed for contents. This framework also contains the process that controls different brainwave measuring devices. In experiment a handling process applying the proposed framework to the developed BCI contents is introduced.

  • Digital twin has the advantages of quality improvement and cost reduction, so it is widely applied to various industries. In this paper, a method to implement the major technologies of digital twin easily and quickly is presented. These include data management and relay servers, real-time monitoring applications including remote control interfaces, and direct connection protocols for video streaming. In addition, an algorithm for controlling a two-wheeled vehicle with a 2D interface is also proposed. The implemented system performs near real-time synchronization between the real environment and the virtual space. The delay time that occurs in remote control of the vehicle in the real environment was compared with the results of applying the proposed delay time reduction method. In addition, in the case of 2D interface-based control, an algorithm that can guarantee the user experience was implemented and applied to the actual environment and verified through experiments.

  • 3D simulation programs or games on a smart phone and a personal computer have often employed 3D graphic processing techniques and 3D graphical views. However, the user interfaces in those 3D programs have sticked to take a typical 2D style user interface and thus the combination of a 2D user interface view and a 3D simulation view give us a mismatched sense. Since a 2D user interface has been based on the windows controls, it causes sometime DC conflicts between a simulation view and an interface view. Therefore, we will implement the UI developing tool which can be inserted into the pipeline structure for the development of a 3D simulation software and also follows the view-handler design pattern in Microsoft windows system. It will provide various graphical effects such as the deformation of UI depending on the view direction of simulation view and the sitting pose of user. This developing tool gives the natural user interface which heightens the sense of unity with a given 3D simulation view.

  • Intelligent Tutoring System is composed of tutoring module, student module and expert module. Among the modules, interface module is the most closely related to students and shares the biggest part of a learning system. Interface module is important for students both in e-learning system but also in intelligent tutoring system. But research on the improvement of interface hasn't been actively done. It studied the interface improvement that has very close relation to e-Learning students. It studied the main components of the existing interface and designed multimedia interface to correct the problems of previous researches. It also suggested the method to relate it to the intelligent tutoring system.

  • This paper is to propose for the production of a digital-based new interface for the percussion of samulnori which are drum, janggu, jing and kkwaenggwari. Newly designed interface is similar to a jing-shaped percussion, and it was designed to playall of four instruments from a single interface. Two batting sufaces, which are located both in front and at trunk of the interface, generate a hitting date creating when interface to be hit and a pressure data when to grip the handle by control unit located at the handle. The information generated is transmitted to a computer via a wireless communication, and then, the computer generate a synthesized sound based on the characteristic of each instrument.

  • Since affective computing has been introduced in 90s, affect recognition technology has achieved substantial progress recently. However, the application of user emotion recognition into software user interface is in its early stages. In this paper, we describe a new approach for developing mobile user interface which could react differently depending on user emotion states. First, an emotion reaction model is presented which determines user interface reactions for each emotional state. We introduce a pair of mappings from user states to different user interface versions. The reacting versions are implemented by a set of variations for a view. Further, we present an authoring framework to help developers/designers to create emotion-aware reactions based on the proposed emotion reaction model. The authoring framework is necessary to alleviate the burden of creating and handling multi versions for views at the development process. A prototype implementation is presented as an extension of the existing authoring tool DAT4UX. Moreover, a proof-of-concept application featuring an emotion-aware interface is developed using the tool.

  • Learning methods using various assistive and smart devices have been developed to enable independent learning of the disabled. Pointer control is the most important consideration for the disabled when controlling a device and the contents of an existing graphical user interface (GUI) environment; however, difficulties can be encountered when using a pointer, depending on the disability type; Although there are individual differences depending on the blind, low vision, and upper limb disability, problems arise in the accuracy of object selection and execution in common. A multimodal interface pilot solution is presented that enables people with various disability types to control web interactions more easily. First, we classify web interaction types using digital devices and derive essential web interactions among them. Second, to solve problems that occur when performing web interactions considering the disability type, the necessary technology according to the characteristics of each disability type is presented. Finally, a pilot solution for the multimodal interface for each disability type is proposed. We identified three disability types and developed solutions for each type. We developed a remote-control operation voice interface for blind people and a voice output interface applying the selective focusing technique for low-vision people. Finally, we developed a gaze-tracking and voice-command interface for GUI operations for people with upper-limb disability.
