엣지 컴퓨팅에서 트래픽 분산을 위한 흐름 예측 기반 동적 클러스터링 기법 (Flow Prediction-Based Dynamic Clustering Method for Traffic Distribution in Edge Computing)

  • This paper is a method for efficient traffic prediction in mobile edge computing, where many studies have recently been conducted. For distributed processing in mobile edge computing, tasks offloading from each mobile edge must be processed within the limited computing power of the edge. As a result, in the mobile nodes, it is necessary to efficiently select the surrounding edge server in consideration of performance dynamically. This paper aims to suggest the efficient clustering method by selecting edges in a cloud environment and predicting mobile traffic. Then, our dynamic clustering method is to reduce offloading overload to the edge server when offloading required by mobile terminals affects the performance of the edge server compared with the existing offloading schemes.

A Hadoop-based Multimedia Transcoding System for Processing Social Media in the PaaS Platform of SMCCSE

  • Previously, we described a social media cloud computing service environment (SMCCSE). This SMCCSE supports the development of social networking services (SNSs) that include audio, image, and video formats. A social media cloud computing PaaS platform, a core component in a SMCCSE, processes large amounts of social media in a parallel and distributed manner for supporting a reliable SNS. Here, we propose a Hadoop-based multimedia system for image and video transcoding processing, necessary functions of our PaaS platform. Our system consists of two modules, including an image transcoding module and a video transcoding module. We also design and implement the system by using a MapReduce framework running on a Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and the media processing libraries Xuggler and JAI. In this way, our system exponentially reduces the encoding time for transcoding large amounts of image and video files into specific formats depending on user-requested options (such as resolution, bit rate, and frame rate). In order to evaluate system performance, we measure the total image and video transcoding time for image and video data sets, respectively, under various experimental conditions. In addition, we compare the video transcoding performance of our cloud-based approach with that of the traditional frame-level parallel processing-based approach. Based on experiments performed on a 28-node cluster, the proposed Hadoop-based multimedia transcoding system delivers excellent speed and quality.

무선 멀티미디어 센서 네트워크에서 효율적인 이미지 전송을 위한 웨이블릿 기반 압축 기법 (Wavelet Based Compression Technique for Efficient Image Transmission in the Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks)

  • 저가형 이미지 센서 기술의 발전과 무선 센서 네트워크 기술의 발전으로 인해 WMSN(Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks) 기술이 활발히 연구되고 있다. WMSN은 기존의 무선 센서 네트워크 기술에 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 센싱하고 전송 및 처리하는 기반기술을 포함한다. 멀티미디어 컨텐츠는 많은 데이터량을 가지므로 이를 처리하기 위해서는 많은 컴퓨팅 자원과 높은 네트워크 대역폭을 필요로 한다. 저사양의 센서 노드에서 멀티미디어 컨텐츠를 수용하기 위해서는 컴퓨팅 자원을 고려한 압축 기법 및 효율적인 전송에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 무선 센서 네트워크에서 이미지를 효율적으로 압축하고 전송하기 위한 압축기법인 YWCE기법을 제안한다. YWCE는 웨이블릿의 Resolution Scalability 특성을 이용한 4가지 움직임 보상/예측 기법을 도입한다. 실험을 통하여 4가지 각 압축 기법들의 조합에 따라 매우 높은 성능을 나타냄을 보였다.

클라우드 환경에서의 암호화 데이터에 대한 효율적인 Top-K 질의 수행 기법 (Efficient Top-K Queries Computation for Encrypted Data in the Cloud)

  • With growing popularity of cloud computing services, users can more easily manage massive amount of data by outsourcing them to the cloud, or more efficiently analyse large amount of data by leveraging IT infrastructure provided by the cloud. This, however, brings the security concerns of sensitive data. To provide data security, it is essential to encrypt sensitive data before uploading it to cloud computing services. Although data encryption helps provide data security, it negatively affects the performance of massive data analytics because it forbids the use of index and mathematical operation on encrypted data. Thus, in this paper, we propose a novel algorithm which enables to efficiently process a large amount of encrypted data. In particular, we propose a novel top-k processing algorithm on the massive amount of encrypted data in the cloud computing environments, and verify the performance of the proposed approach with real data experiments.

Simulation-based Design Verification for High-performance Computing System

  • This paper presents the knowledge and experience we obtained by employing multiprocessor systems as a computer simulation design verification to study high-performance computing system. This paper also describes a case study of symmetric multiprocessors (SMP) kernel on a 32 CPUs CC-NUMA architecture using an actual architecture. A small group of CPUs of CC-NUMA, high-performance computer system, is clustered into a processing node or cluster. By simulating the system design verification tools; we discussed SMP OS kernel on a CC-NUMA multiprocessor architecture performance which is $32\%$ of the total execution time and remote memory access latency is occupied $43\%$ of the OS time. In this paper, we demonstrated our simulation results for multiprocessor, high-performance computing system performance, using simulation-based design verification.

  • Online image dictionary has become more and more popular in concepts cognition. However, for existing online systems, only very few images are manually picked to demonstrate the concepts. Currently, there is very little research found on automatically choosing large scale online images with the help of semantic analysis. In this paper, we propose a novel framework to utilize community-generated online multimedia content to visually illustrate certain concepts. Our proposed framework adapts various techniques, including the correlation analysis, semantic and visual clustering to produce sets of high quality, precise, diverse and representative images to visually translate a given concept. To make the best use of our results, a user interface is deployed, which displays the representative images according the latent semantic coherence. The objective and subjective evaluations show the feasibility and effectiveness of our approach.

  • 그리드(Grid)는 WWW 컴퓨팅 모델을 계승할 차세대 분산 처리 모델이며, 자바 언어는 그리드 시스템을 설계하고 구현하는 훌륭한 개발 언어이다. 자바언어는 분산 처리를 위해 개발되었으며, 현재 WWW 응용 개발에 널리 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 그리드의 기본 개념을 소개하고, 자바 언어를 사용한 컴퓨팅 그리드를 설계하고 구현하였다. 구현된 컴퓨팅 그리드에 알맞은 분산 응용 프로그램의 실행 결과를 분석하였다. 본 논문에서 구현된 그리드에 사용된 분산 멀티미디어 응용의 실행 결과는 기존의 시스템에 비하여 매우 향상된 성능을 보여주고 있다.

  • 모바일 디바이스와 어플리케이션의 발전으로 Mobile Cloud Computing(MCC)의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. MCC는 다수의 모바일 디바이스를 하나의 클라우드 환경으로 통합해 배터리 수명, 스토리지, 프로세싱 등의 성능 향상을 가져온다. 그러나 아직 MCC의 오프로드처리 방식이 명확히 정의되어 있지 않은 상황이다. 본 논문은 MCC 환경에서 모바일 디바이스의 작업을 클라우드에 이관해 처리하는 오프로드를 서버의 역할에 따라 다섯 가지로 나누어 정의해 제안한다. 마지막으로 더 효율적인 오프로드 방법을 제안하여 미래 연구 방향에 대해 논의한다.

Production Equipment Monitoring System Based on Cloud Computing for Machine Manufacturing Tools

  • The Cyber Physical System(CPS) is an important concept in achieving SMSs(Smart Manufacturing Systems). Generally, CPS consists of physical and virtual elements. The former involves manufacturing devices in the field space, whereas the latter includes the technologies such as network, data collection and analysis, security, and monitoring and control technologies in the cyber space. Currently, all these elements are being integrated for achieving SMSs in which we can control and analyze various kinds of producing and diagnostic issues in the cyber space without the need for human intervention. In this study, we focus on implementing a production equipment monitoring system related to building a SMS. First, we describe the development of a fog-based gateway system that links physical manufacturing devices with virtual elements. This system also interacts with the cloud server in a multimedia network environment. Second, we explain the proposed network infrastructure to implement a monitoring system operating on a cloud server. Then, we discuss our monitoring applications, and explain the experience of how to apply the ML(Machine Learning) method for predictive diagnostics.

클라우드 컴퓨팅 기반의 협업 이미지 제작 도구 (The Collaborative Image Editing Tool based On the Cloud Computing)

  • In recent times, IaaS (Infrastructure as a Services) have been rapidly evolving to allow developers to easily and efficiently access work in the server and network areas for development of a web of App based on cloud computing. In this study, we developed the collaborative image editing tool App based on Cloud-computing, by adopting AWS of representative company that develops IaaS. First, it is crucial to understand various situation conditions for representative infrastructure services: AWS, Azure and Google (GCP). This may have the effect of reducing manpower and development time, but as each company has different policy and technical support, we need a new study every time the environment changes of infrastructure services. We tried to develop a hybrid-App so that users with various devices can collaborate work each other by utilizing the infrastructure service AWS through the process of developing the image editing authoring tool based on the cloud computing. The future studies should continue about compatibility issues and support issues in order to minimize the problems of overseas infrastructure services, but we think that domestic cloud computing policies and developments should be urgently considered.
