On the Use of Adaptive Weight Functions in Wavelength-Continuous WDM Multi-Fiber Networks under Dynamic Traffic

  • In this paper, we address the problem of efficient routing and wavelength assignment (RWA) in multi-fiber wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) networks without wavelength translation, under dynamic traffic. We couple Dijkstra's shortest path algorithm with a suitable weight function which chooses optical paths based both on wavelength availability and multi-fiber segments. We compare our approach with other RWA schemes both for regular and irregular WDM multi-fiber network topologies in terms of blocking probability and overall link utilization.

A Phase Unwrapping Algorithm in Three-Wavelength Digital Holographic Microscopy

  • Multi-wavelength holography has a better axial range than single-wavelength holography, thus allowing unambiguous phase imaging. Noise amplification is the limiting factor in multi-wavelength holography as noise is amplified by a factor equivalent to the magnification of the wavelengths. Here, we propose a new algorithm to remove noise amplification in multi-wavelength holography. The proposed method does not use phase unwrapping and removes $2{\pi}$ ambiguities. Experiments and numerical simulations indicated that the proposed method is fast, has low noise, and is useful for measuring samples with arbitrary step heights.

  • High resolution, multi-wavelength images from the Dutch Open Telescope were used to study the detailed mechanisms that might be involved in the multiple layer solar atmosphere observed in high cadence multi-wavelength observations. With the exceptional data observed for active region NOAA 10789 on 2005 July 13th, we study the changing pattern of the fibril using multi-wavelength tomography of the $H{\alpha}$ line center and blue wing, Ca II H, and the G Band. It is believed that a long fibril that is rooted in the umbra, with longer apparent periodicity, may be due to morphological changes. To determine this, we conduct phase difference and coherency analysis between points along the fibril to understand how the wave propagates.

  • 본 논문에서는 다수의 광섬유로 이루서진 광링크와 산재하여 있는 제한 영역 파장변환 능력을 가진 노드들로 구성된 광통신 망의 불통확률을 정확하게 계산할 수 있는 새로운 성능분석 모형을 제안한다. 제안하는 성능분석 모형은 다수의 광섬유로 이루어진 광링크 상에서 사용 가능한 파장들의 분포와 제한 영역 파장변환 이후의 사용 가능한 파장들의 분포, 그리고 다수의 광링크가 연결된 광경로에서의 불통 확률을 계산하기 위한 재귀적 공식을 도출함을 특징으로 한다. NSFNET 망에서 수행한 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 제안하는 성능분석 모형이 광통신 망의 불통확률을 정확히 예측함을 보인다. 또한, 파장 연속성 제약이 없는 경우의 이상적인 블통화률에 근접하는 성능을 얻기 위해서 소수의 제한영역 파장변환 노드와 소수의 광섬유만으로 구성된 광링크를 포설하는 것으로 충분함을 보인다.

An Asymmetric Sampled Grating Laser and Its Application to Multi-Wavelength Laser Array

  • We propose an asymmetric sampled grating laser and a multi-wavelength laser array associated with it. Asymmetric sampling periods combined with an index shifter make it possible to use first order reflection for lasing operations. With the structure of our design, we achieved a simple fabrication procedure as well as a high yield without using complex and time-consuming e-beam lithography for multi-period gratings. We analyzed the effect of mirror coating by numerical analysis to improve single mode and power extraction performance. By using high reflection-antireflection coatings, we obtained high power extraction efficiency without degradation of the single mode property. For the multi-wavelength laser array, to gain wavelength control, we varied the sampling periods from one laser to an adjacent laser across the array. With this approach, we showed the feasibility of an array of up to 30 channels with 100 GHz wavelength spacing.

Design and Performance Analysis of a Multi Wavelength Terahertz Modulator Based on Triple-Lattice Photonic Crystals

  • Terahertz (THz) communication has important applications in high-speed and ultra broadband wireless access networks. The THz modulator is one of the key devices in a THz communications system. Wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) can expand the capacity of THz communications systems, so research on multi wavelength THz modulators has significant value. By combining photonic-crystal and THz technology, a novel type of multi wavelength THz modulator based on a triple-lattice photonic crystal is proposed in this paper. Compared to a compound-lattice photonic crystal, a triple-lattice photonic crystal has a larger gap width of 0.196. Simulation results show that six beams of THz waves can be modulated simultaneously with high performance. This modulator's extinction ratio is as large as 34.25 dB, its insertion loss is as low as 0.147 dB, and its modulation rate is 2.35 GHz.

  • Aluminum and aluminum alloys have high rate of lightness, recycling property and excellent specific strength. Fields using them have been widening because they ould satisfy both energy reduction and high efficiency in manufactures production. But they have many problems on welding due to high thermal conductivity and reflectivity, so the study to solve these problems ate proceeding actively around the world. This study was purposed to improve weldability and spread application range for aluminium alloys by using the unique property of aluminium which absorb high energy around $800{\mu}m$ wavelength and the higher temperature, the mote absorbtion of laser beam on preheating by multi-wavelength laser beam(pulsed Nd:YAG laser + diode laser with $808{\mu}m$ wavelength). The favorable mechanical properties were acquired by the test results of strength, hardness and leak of weld metal which had reduced its defect like crack and so on.

  • This paper proposes the architecture of a multiple ring based optical network with single hop between edge nodes using either the concept of circuit switching or multi-wavelength label. The structure of the multi-wavelength label, be shown through the single wavelength-band and the multiple wavelength-band that can reduce number of ring. To avoid the collision of the optical packets at an outward port, we proposed the dynamic allocation scheme of the outward optical packets based on the fiber do]ay lines(FDLs).

광 부호 분할 다중접속 네트워크를 위한 파장/시간 2차원 코드의 새로운 부호기/복호기 (New Encoder/Decoder with Wavelength/Time 2-D Codes for Optical CDMA Network)

  • We propose a new encoder/decoders based on an tune able wavelength converter(TWC) and an arrayed waveguide grating(AWG) router for large capacity optical CDMA networks. The proposed encoder/decoder treats codewords of wavelength/time 2-D code simultaneously using the dynamic code allocation property of the TWC and the cyclic property of the AWG router, and multiple subscribers can share the encoder/decoder in networks. Feasibility of the structure of the proposed encoder/decoder for dynamic code allocation is tested through simulations using two wavelength/time 2-D codes, which are the generalized multi-wavelength prime code(GMWPC) and the generalized multi-wavelength Reed-Solomon code(GMWRSC). Test results show that the proposed encoder/decoder can increase the channel efficiency not only by increasing the number of simultaneous users without any multiple-access interference but by using a relatively short length CDMA codes.

  • 본 논문에서는 대용량 광 부호분할 다중접속(Optical CDMA) 네트워크를 위해, 가변 파장변환기(TWC)와 도파로 열격자(AWG)를 이용한 공유형 부호기/복호기를 제안하였다. 제안한 부호기/복호기는 TWC의 동적 코드 할당 특성과 AWG의 순환(cyclic) 특성을 이용하여 다수의 가입자가 동일한 부호기와 복호기를 공유할 수 있도록 파장시간의 2차원 코드를 사용한다. 2차원 코드 구성 방법인 GMWPC(Generalized Multi-wavelength Prime Code)와 GMWRSC(Generalized Multi-wavelength Reed-Solomon Code)를 사용한 시뮬레이션을 통해 다수의 가입자를 위해 동적 코드 할당을 할 수 있는 제안한 부호기/복호기 구조의 타당성을 제시하였다. 제안한 부호기/복호기는 다중 접속 간섭을 일으키지 않으면서 동시 사용자 수를 증가시키며, 상대적으로 짧은 코드 길이를 사용함으로써 채널 효율을 향상시킬 수 있는 장점을 가지고 있다.
