To evaluate the wind shielding effect of bridge towers with multiple limbs on high-speed trains, a wind tunnel test was conducted to investigate the aerodynamic characteristics of vehicles traversing multi-limb towers, which represented a combination of the steady aerodynamic coefficient of the vehicle-bridge system and wind environment around the tower. Subsequently, the analysis model of wind-vehicle-bridge (WVB) system considering the additional moments caused by lift and drag forces under nonuniform wind was proposed, and the reliability and accuracy of the proposed model of WVB system were verified using another model. Finally, the factors influencing the wind shielding effect of multi-limb towers were analyzed. The results indicate that the wind speed distributions along the span exhibit two sudden changes, and the wind speed generally decreases with increasing wind direction angle. The pitching and yawing accelerations of vehicles under nonuniform wind loads significantly increase due to the additional pitching and yawing moments. The sudden change values of the lateral and yawing accelerations caused by the wind shielding effect of multi-limb tower are 0.43 m/s2 and 0.11 rad/s2 within 0.4 s, respectively. The results indicate that the wind shielding effect of a multi-limb tower is the controlling factor in WVB systems.

It is known that displacements, velocities and accelerations of the tractor- trailer type vehicle system in shock & vibration analysis by the flexible-multi-body dynamics including the flexibility of structure are bigger and more repetitive than them by the rigid-multi-body dynamics, and it is necessary to prove above results by the experimental field test. Therefore, in this paper, theoretical analysis by the flexible-multi-body dynamics and experimental field test for a tractor-trailer type vehicle system are conducted and their results are compared with each other. Because of unexpected metal contact and impact in the air coupler part in the field test, some accelerations measured from the experimental field test are bigger than them analyzed from the theoretical analysis, but most accelerations are well coincide with each other in the amplitudes and trends. Thus more refined dynamic analytical models for some special type vehicle systems will be possible in the future.

This paper presents a parking assistant system of multi-view using vehicle data. Proposed system provides the driver with three direction of the scenes surrounding vehicle. Depending on the handle rotation, the proposed system displays views from multiple wide-angle CCD cameras on the laptop screen to reduce blind spots, support smooth parallel or garage parking, and support comfortable and safe driving. The handle angle and gear position are obtained from ABS ECU through OBD-II port. The performance of proposed system is validated by vehicle experiments.
A vehicle cruise control algorithm using an Interacting Multiple Model (IMM)-based Multi-Target Tracking (MTT) method has been presented in this paper. The vehicle cruise control algorithm consists of three parts; track estimator using IMM-Probabilistic Data Association Filter (PDAF), a primary target vehicle determination algorithm and a single-target adaptive cruise control algorithm. Three motion models; uniform motion, lane-change motion and acceleration motion, have been adopted to distinguish large lateral motions from longitudinal motions. The models have been validated using simulated and experimental data. The improvement in the state estimation performance when using three models is verified in target tracking simulations. The performance and safety benefits of a multi-model-based MTT-ACC system is investigated via simulations using real driving radar sensor data. These simulations show system response that is more realistic and reflective of actual human driving behavior.
In the present study, a novel optimization method in formation control of multi -system vehicles based on the trajectory of the nearest neighbor trajectory is presented. In this regard, the state equations of each vehicle and multisystem is derived and the optimization scheme based on minimizing the differences between actual positions and desired positions of the vehicles are conducted. This formation control is a position-based decentralized model. The trajectory of the nearest neighbor are optimized based on the current position and state of the vehicle. This approach aids the whole multi-agent system to be optimized on their trajectory. Furthermore, to overcome the cumulative errors and maintain stability in the network a semi-centralized scheme is designed for the purpose of checking vehicle position to its predefined trajectory. The model is implemented in Matlab software and the results for different initial state and different trajectory definition are presented. In addition, to avoid collision avoidance and maintain the distances between vehicles agents at a predefined desired distances. In this regard, a neural fuzzy network is defined to be utilized in conjunction with the control system to avoid collision between vehicles. The outcome reveals that the model has acceptable stability and accuracy.

In this paper, we study the multi-objectives vehicle and drone routing problem with time windows, MOVDRPTW for short, which is defined in an urban delivery network. We consider the dual modal delivery system consisting of drones and vehicles. Drones are used as a complement to the vehicle and operate in a point to point manner between the depot and the customer. Customers make various requests. They prefer to receive delivery services within the predetermined time range and some customers require fast delivery. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effectiveness of the delivery strategy of using drones and vehicles together with a multi-objective measures. As experiment datasets, we use the instances generated based on actual courier delivery data. We propose a hybrid multi-objective evolutionary algorithm for solving MOVDRPTW. Our results confirm that the vehicle-drone mixed strategy has 30% cost advantage over vehicle only strategy.

This study presents the integrated modeling approach to simulate the proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cell system for vehicle application. The fuel cell system consisting of stack and balance of plant (BOP) was simulated with MATLAB/Simulink environment to estimate the maximum system power and investigate the effect of BOP component sizing on system performance and efficiency. The PEM fuel cell stack model was established by using a semi-empirical modeling. To maximize the net efficiency of fuel cel1 system, multi-variable optimization code was adopted. Using this method the optimized operating values were obtained according to various system net power levels. The fuel cell model established was co-linked to AVL CRUISE, a vehicle simulation package. Through the vehicle simulation software, the fuel economy of fuel cell powered electric vehicle for two types of driving cycles was presented and compared. It is expected that this study tan be effectively employed in the basic BOP component sizing and in establishing system operation map with respect to net power level of fuel cell system.

This paper deals with some analytical and experimental aspects to control a multi-magnet suspended vehicle. Because the response of a multi-magnet vehicle shows mutually coupled interaction, an analytical description of the vehicle dynamics is necessary. For numerical computations, a linearized modelling of vehicle dynamics is dicussed and computer simulation is carried out. And for the experiment, a test vehicle suspended by four magnets has been made and investigated by local control of each magnet. Two algorithms by PID and state feedback control law are used and compared with each other. Some kinds of disturbance characteristics and coupling effects of the width change of the test vehicle are experimented.

For its simplicity and cost effectiveness in implementation, the Inverted DGPS is well suited for some specific applications like automatic vehicle location systems, where the monitoring station needs accurate position of the vehicles in the street. In the Inverted DGPS, the user sends its GPS position and associated satellite informations to the reference station, and the corrections are made at the reference station to get differentially corrected user position. A fundamental requirement in IDGPS is that the user and the reference station must use the same satellites when the corrections are made. But in practice, it is not often satisfied. Inverted DGPS is also suffered from performance degradation as the baseline become large like DGPS. IDGPS system using multi-reference station can resolve this problem. In this paper a simple multi-reference IDGPS algorithm is proposed and some experiments and analysis are peformed. Experiment results show that IDGPS can achieve the positioning performance as accurate as the DGPS can provide.
