  • Ubiquitous computing technologies become mature enough to be applied in acceptable ubiquitous services. In particular, in u-shopping area, personalized recommender systems which automatically collect the nomadic user-related context data and then provide them with products or shops in a flexible manner. However, legacy cooperative queries and context-aware queries so far do not come up with dynamically changing situations and ambiguous query commands, respectively. Hence, The purpose of this paper is to propose a personalized context-aware cooperative query that supports a multi-level data abstraction hierarchy and conceptual distance metric among node instances, while considering the user's context data. To show the feasibility of the methodology proposed in this paper, we have implemented a prototype system, CACO, in the area of site search in a large-scale shopping mall.

  • The concept of the "diaspora" has established itself as one of the major topics in literary and cultural studies in the first two decades of the twenty-first century. Contemporary studies on this topic tend to regard is diaspora as either as a liberatory space unmoored from a repressive national identity-formation or as a condition pregnant with challenges to the authority of a nation-state or nationalism. Viewed from within the social realities of multi-ethnic nations, however, diaspora has an alternative, darker face. For, reproduced within the concept itself, is that of a hierarchy: this hierarchy is one in which a dominant group seeks to repress the same ethnic members for their failure to conform. What is more, the cultural difference, which diaspora is believed to preserve, lends the dominant group an excuse to re-ethnicize its immigrants, subsuming them under the same extra-national category as that of the people or homeland they have left behind. By analyzing a range of historical and theoretical models, this study offers itself as an attempt to clarify the current, and often confusing, understandings of the condition of diaspora. By delving into its political potentials and discussing their possible socio-political ramifications, the study suggests that researchers of diaspora need to anchor themselves in historicity lest they end up "speaking for" their chosen subjects.

  • The evaluation structure of complex problems is composed of multi-attributes and hierarchy. A many studies were existed on this problems, but that based on the assumption that the evaluation elements were independent. The actual evaluation problems have the complexity, ambiguity and interlinkage among the elements. In this situation, the fuzzy evaluation process is very effective in settling the complex problems. For evaluation of large scale hierarchical MADM problem, the fuzzy evaluation algorithm is developed in this paper, and that is centering on the identification of fuzzy measures. In this study, we newly identified the weight and interaction among the evaluation attributes. The results of this study are as follows: we can identified the hierarchical structure of the evaluation problem which is composed of the evaluation structure, function and hierarchy; we improved the existed weighting method which could be accomplished by normalizing process, considering the uncertainty and new weight integrating method which come from Dempster-Shafer theory. And we take into account the interaction properties among more than 3 evaluation attributes, which can be compared with the existed studies in which only 2 evaluation attributes taked into account.

  • The vibrational characteristics of Multi-Phase Nanocomposite (MPC) reinforced annular/circular plate under initially stresses are presented using the state-space formulation based on three-dimensional elasticity theory (3D-elasticity theory) and Differential Quadrature Method (DQM). The MPC reinforced annular/circular plate is under initial lateral stress and composed of multilayers with Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) uniformly dispersed in each layer, but its properties change layer-by-layer along the thickness direction. The State-Space based Differential Quadrature Method (SS-DQM) is presented to examine the frequency behavior of the current structure. Halpin-Tsai equations and fiber micromechanics are used in the hierarchy to predict the bulk material properties of the multi-scale composite. A singular point is investigated for modeling the circular plate. The CNTs are supposed to be randomly oriented and uniformly distributed through the matrix of epoxy resin. Afterward, a parametric study is done to present the effects of various types of sandwich circular/annular plates on frequency characteristics of the MPC reinforced annular/circular plate using 3D-elasticity theory.

  • This paper proposes to increase the efficiency of energy in nodes, which rapidly drops during the transmission of the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy (LEACH), through the use of dual-hop layered application in the sensor field. Along with introducing the dual-hop method in the data transmission, the proposed single-hop method for short-range transmission and multi-hop transmission method between the cluster heads for remote transmission were also introduced. Additionally, by introducing a partial multi-hop method in the data transmission, a single-hop method for short range transmission method between the cluster heads for remote transmission was used. In the proposed DL-LEACH, the energy consumption of the cluster head for remote transmission reduced, as well as increased the energy efficiency of the sensor node by reducing the transmission distance and simplifying the transmission route for short-range transmission. As compared the general LEACH, it was adapted to a wider sensor field.

  • For companies assembling end products from sub assemblies or components, MRP (Material Requirement Planning) logic is frequently used to synchronize and pace the production activities for the required parts. However, in MRP, the planning of operational-level activities is left to short term scheduling. So, we need a good scheduling algorithm to generate feasible schedules taking into account shop floor characteristics and multi-level job structures used in MRP. In this paper, we present a GA (Genetic Algorithm) solution for this complex scheduling problem based on a new gene to reflect the machine assignment, operation sequences and the levels of the operations relative to final operation. The relative operation level is the control parameter that paces the completion timing of the components belonging to the same branch in the multi-level job hierarchy. In order to revise the fixed relative level which solutions are confined to, we apply large step transition in the first step and GA in the second step. We compare the genetic algorithm and 2-phase optimization with several dispatching rules in terms of tardiness for about forty modified standard job-shop problem instances.

  • This study presents about the method of alternatives selection by considering wall performance and interior design. Wall is selected fur the object and 3 items of cost, performance, and design as the objective function for optimizing are determined. Thus the wall performance selected problems, which are improvement of insulation performance, sweaty prevention, sound insulation performance and design selected problems, which is satisfactory Improvement of users about Interior design. It is important to select alternatives that can satisfy the performance and design on the capital given as much as possible. But quantitative problem such as performance or expanses and qualitative problem such as design are not in the same dimension. Therefore this problem is a multi-criteria optimization problem and also has used AHP method as the method to solve these. Moreover GA is used to solve a problem of the alternatives occurrence, which is the characteristic of multi-criteria problem. This study presents the solution method on multi-criteria problem that has been mix loaded of quantitative problem and qualitative problem by using AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) and GA(Genetic Algorithm).

  • The important considerations in the design of fiber-optic networks are reliability and survivability preparing against a failure. The SDH(Synchronous Digital Hierarchy), the international standard of optical transmission, offers several network reconfiguration methods that enable network to be automatically restored from failure. One of the methods is the SHR(Self Healing Ring), which is a ring topology system. Most network providers have constructed their backbone networks with SHR architecture since it can provide survivability economically. The network architecture has eventually evolved into a multi-ring network comprised of interconnected rings. This paper addresses multi-ring network design problems is to minimize ring-construction cost. This problem can be formulated with MIP(mixed integer programming) model. However, it is difficult to solve the model within reasonable computing time on a large scale network because the model is NP-complete. Furthermore, in practice we should consider the problem of routing demands on rings to minimize total cost. This routing problem involves multiplex bundling at the intermediate nodes. A family of heuristic algorithms is presented for this problem. These algorithms include gateway selection and routing of inter-ring demands as well as load balancing on single rings. The developed heuristic algorithms are applied to some network provider's regional and long-distance transmission networks. We show an example of ring design and compare it with another ring topology design. Finally, we analysis the effect bundling.

  • It is required to consider pricing and non-pricing factors and external economy in order to achieve the objects of physical distribution system in a port. Recently, among the three factors, much attention has been paid to non-pricing factor in the system. Although physical distribution service in a port(PDSP)has been frequently mentioned in documents and literature related to port and shipping studies, few study on it has not been systematically and scientifically made due to the following problems; $\circ$ there are not proper criteria to evaluate level and quality of PDSP and as a result it is difficult to set up a unified standard for doing so. $\circ$ algorithms to evaluate problems with complex and ambiguous attributes and multiple levels in PDSP are not available. This thesis aims to establish a paradigm to evaluate PDSP and to abvance existing decision making methods to deal with complex and ambiguous problems in PDSP. To tackle the first purpose, extensive and thorough literature survey was carried out on general physical distribution service, which is a corner stone to handle PDSp. In addition, through interviews and questionnaire to the expert, it have extracted 82 factors of physical distribution service in a port. They have been classified into 6 groups by KJ method and each group defined by the expert's advice as follows; a. Potentiality b. Exactness c. safety d. Speediness e. Convenience f. Linkage Prior to the service evaluation, many kinds of its attributes must be identified on the basis of rational decision owing to complexity and ambiguity inherent in PDSP. An analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is a method to evaluate them but it is not applicable to PDSP that have property of non-additivity and overlapped attributes. Therefore, probablility measure can not be used to evaluate PDSP but fuzzy measure is required. Hierarchical fuzzy integral method, which is merged AHP with fuzzy measure, is also not effective method to evaluate attributes because it has vary complicated way to calculate fuzzy measure identification coefficient of attributes. A new evaluation algorithm has been introduced to solve problems with multi-attribute and multi-level hierarchy, which is called hierarchy fuzzy process(HFP).Analysis on ambiguous aspects of PDSP under study which is not easy to be defined is prerequisite to evaluate it. HFP is different from algorithm existed in that it clarified the relationship between fuzzy measure and probability measure adopted in AHP and that it directly calculates the family of fuzzy measure from overlapping coefficient and probability measure to treat and evaluate ambiguous and complex aspects of PDSP. A new evaluation algorithm HFP was applied to evaluate level of physical distribution service in the biggest twenty container port in the world. The ranks of the ports are as follows; 1. Rotterdam Port, 2. Hamburg Port, 3. Singapore Port, 4. Seattle Port, 5. Yokohama Port, 6. Long beach Port, 7. Oakland Port, 8. Tokyo Port, 9. Hongkong Port, 10. Kobe Port, 11. Los Angeles Port, 12. • The purpose of this study is to understand Le Corbusier's idea of public and private spaces, and the hierarchical spatial structure in his multi-family housings. It investigates the origin of Le Corbusier's ideology about the public and private spaces in his multi-family housing projects. Precedents those influenced his ideas are two: first, Fourier's ideal community model $Phalanst\grave{e}re$; second, Monastery of Ema near Florence. In both cases, private and public spaces and intermediate spaces were in clear hierarchy and also in harmony. Le Corbusier focused on the interplay of individual and collective life. This study analyzed the spatial composition of Le Corbusier's three multi-family housing models. They are Immeubles-Villas of Ville contemporaine pour 3 millions d'habitants (1922), Immeubles-Villas at Pavillion of l'Esprit Nouveau (1925), Unite d'habitation at Marseille (1945). The three projects are different according to size and periodical characteristics. However, they followed his basic principle for spatial composition about multy-family housing. His 'method of harmony for public and private space' is as follows: first, the securing of clear personal space; second, the importance of the intermediate space; Third, the essential understanding of communal space. Through this study, it was reaffirmed that the 'multi-family housing is a space where individuals and the whole co-exist'.
