Frequency Characteristics of a Membrane Duct (박막형 소음기의 주파수 특성)

  • Theoretical analysis of noise reduction by a membrane-duct system is presented. When acorn waves propagate in the membrane-duct, the membrane is also excited and its motion is coup with interior medium. It has been shown that propagating waves with supersonic wave speed exist beyond a certain critical frequency that is determined from the mass ratio of the me and the fluid. Also found are subsonic waves which couple strongly wi th the membrane a provide a powerful mechanism of energy dissipation. Existence of an exterior medium alter dispersion characteristics. It provides additional mass loading and reduces the subsort speed further. The effect of mean flow speed on dispersion characteristics is also consider results show that the membrane-duct system can be applied to diminish and absorb 1 frequency noise in duct instead of passive muffler, such as a simple expansion chamber absorption material.

  • Vacuum cleaner, one of those household articles, have easily used in our life. Recently vacuum cleaner tends to be compact and portably with high suction power and low noise. As increasing this suction power, the vibration and noise of vacuum cleaner become important problem. To reduce noise efficiently, it is important to identify the noise and the vibration. This pater is to characterize the noise and vibration of a vacuum cleaner.

  • In recent years, the driving performance and exhaust sound quality in automobiles have been recognized as important factors, as they maximize the driving fun to fulfil the demands of customers. Therefore, many automobile manufacturers are studying various exhaust pipe shapes to improve sound quality and optimize exhaust pressure. The objective of the exhaust pipe design is to maximize the engine efficiency using optimal exhaust pressure settings. In this study, an exhaust system was fabricated with different junction shapes, and the results were analyzed through various experiments. The exhaust gas pressure acting inside the exhaust pipe was measured using a pressure transducer. Meanwhile, the vibration generated in the vehicle was measured in three axial directions and analyzed. The ground noise generated in the indoor and outdoor of the vehicle was measured, and the noise generated at the maximum output was measured and analyzed.

  • The simulation program which predicts the gas behavior in a spark ignition engine has been developed and verified by the comparison with the experimental results foy the MPI engine, naturally aspirated and turbochared engines with a carburettor. First paper describes the calculations of the behavior of gas in the intake and exhaust system. The generalized method of characteristics including friction, heat transfer, area change and entropy gradients was used to analyse the pipe flow The constant-Pressure model was applied for the analysis of the flow through engine valved, and the constant-pressure perfect-mixing model was applied for the flow at manifold junction. The concept of the sudden area change was used for the muffler and catalytic convertor. Fer the plenum chamber in an MPI engine, constant-pressure model and constant-volume model were both examined. Through the comparison of predicted results with experiments, the simulation program was verified by showing good prediction of the behavior of IC engine qualitatively and quantitatively under wide range of operating conditions.
