  • A hemispherical asperity moving over a flat plane is simulated based on classical molecular dynamics. The asperity and the plane consist of silicon atoms whose interactions are governed by the Tersoff three-body potential. The gap between the asperity and the plane is maintained to produce attractive normal force in order to investigate the adhesive friction and wear. The simulation focuses on the influence of crystallographic orientation of the contacting surfaces and the moving direction. It is demonstrated that the adhesive friction and wear are lower when crystallographic orientations of the contacting surfaces are different, and also depend on the moving direction relative to the crystal1ographic orientation.

  • A moving-magnet type pickup actuator is proposed, which has the back-yoke to improve th sensitivity. Through the magnetic path analysis, we can find that the flux density is increased i the air gap by the pole assignment of magnet and the adding of back-yoke can reduce the flu leakage and induce 40% up of flux density. Experimental results show that the sensitivity i improved in the tracking direction, however, the improvement doesn't occur in the focusing direction. Finally, the compensation performance is tested in HD-DVD system. And it is verifie that the actuator can compensate the disc tilt of ${\pm}$0.7$^{\circ}$.

  • On the study of the characteristics and life cycle of mesoscale convective band in type of airmass that occurred in the Honam area from June to September for only 4 years in the period of 2009~2012, 10 examples based on the amount of rainfall with AWS 24 hours/60 minutes rainfalls, Mt. Osung radar 1.5 km CAPPI/X-SECT images and KLAPS data for convective band with heavy rainfall event were selected. There were analyzed and classified by using the convective band with heavy rainfall occurred along the convergence line of sea wind in the form of individual multi-cellular cell and moving direction of convective band appeared in a variety of patterns; toward southwestern (2 cases), northeastern (4 cases), congesting (2 cases), and changing its moving direction (2 cases). The case study dated of the 17th Aug. 2012 was chosen and implemented by sequentially different evolution of its shape along the convergence line of sea wind cell and moving direction of convective band as equivalent potential temperatures at the lower layer have increased to the upper layer 500 hPa, that the individual cells were developed vertically and horizontally through their merger, but owing to divergence caused by weakened rainfall and descending air current, the growth of new cell was inhibited resulting in dissipation of convective cells.

  • Nearest neighbor query retrieves nearest located target objects, and is very frequently used in mobile environment. In this paper we propose a novel neatest neighbor query processing technique that is able to retrieve nearest located target object from the user who is continuously moving with a direction. The proposed method retrieves objects using the direction property of moving object as well as euclidean distance to target object. The proposed method is applicable to traffic information system, travel information system, and location-based recommendation system which require retrieving nearest located object.

  • Many students have misconceptions about the direction of force of moving objects, but development of teaching strategy for conceptual change is not easy because the direction of force of moving objects can not be observed directly. Therefore, we devloped demonstration using table tennis ball connected with spring in the water, in which a ball always move to the direction of force of moving objects. This study is to investigate students' responses on the demonstrations designed to generate cognitive conflict and to understand more deeply the process of conceptual change. To do this, five questions were administrated to identify students' preconceptions about force and motion, and interview was conducted using demonstrations, and the process of interview was recorded by video camera. About half of students changed their preconceptions by observing the demonstration. However about thirty percentage of students did not change their preconceptions even though they observed demonstration correctly, among these students, some students simply rejected the observation, doubted the process of demonstrations, or reinterpret the result of observation to preserve their own preconceptions.

  • It is difficult to detect and to track the moving targets like tanks and diesel vehicles due to the variety of terrain and moving of targets. It is possible to be happened the aliasing conditions as the difficulty of antenna deployment in the complex environment like the battle fields. In this paper, we study the problem of detecting and tracking of moving targets which are emitting wideband signals under severe spatial aliasing conditions because of the sparse arrays. We developed a direction of arrival(DOA) estimation algorithm based on subband MUSIC(Multiple Signal Classification) method which produces high-resolution estimation. In this algorithm, the true bearings are invariant regardless of changes of frequency bands while the aliased false bearings vary. As a result, the proposed algorithm overcomes the aliasing effects and improves the localization performance in sparse passive arrays.

  • The purpose of this study was to offer suitable model for performing Tippelt motion and data for training Tippelt motion through the quantitative kinematical analysis of Tippelt motion in parallel bars. The results of analysing kinematic variations through three-dimensional reflection analysis of three members of the national team as the objects of the study were shown as follows. 1. It seemed that the shoulder-joints which are stretched as much as possible affects the whole Tippelt motion while one is swinging downward. The time of process of the center of mass for the body reaching to the maximum flection point should be quick and body's moving from the vertical phase to the front direction should be controled as much as possible. 2. While one is swinging upward, the stability of flying motion could be made certain by the control of body's rapid moving to the front direction and stretching shoulder-joints and hip-joint to reverse direction. 3. While one is flying upward, the body should be erected quickly and lessening the angle of the hip-joint affects the elevation of flight. When the powerful counter turn motion is performed, the stable motion could be made. As a result of this study, It seems that sudden fall and the maximum stretch of shoulder-joints is important during performing Tippelt motion in parallel bars. Also, it concludes that the maximum bending of hip-joints at the starting point of upward swing, sudden stretch to the reverse direction of shoulder-joints and hip-joints when one is leaving bars, control of body's moving to the front direction, and lessening the angle of hip-joints at the flying phase is important.

  • In the mobile environment, according to the movement of the object, the query finds the nearest special object or place from object position. However, because query object moves continuously in the mobile environment, query demand changes according to the direction attribute of query object. Also, in the case of moving of query object and simply the minimum distance value of query result, sometimes we find the result against the query object direction. Especially, in most road condition, as user has to return after reaching U-turn area, user rather spends time and cost. Therefore, in order to solve those problems, in this paper we propose the nearest neighbor method considering moving object position and direction for mobile recommendation system.

  • The techniques of joint mobilization and traction are used to improve joint mobility or to decrease pain by restoring accessory movements to the shoulder joints and thus allowing full, nonrestriced, pain-free range of motion. In the glenohumeral joint, the humeral head would be the convex surface, while the glenoid fossa would be the concave surface. The medial end of the clavicle is concave anterioposteriorly and convex superioinferiorly, the articular surface of the sternum is reciprocally curved. The acromioclavicular joint is a plane synovial joint between a small convex facet on lateral end of the clavicle and a small concave facet on the acromion of the scapula. The relationship between the shape of articulating joint surface and the direction of gliding is defined by the convex-concave rule. If the concave joint surface is moving on a stationary convex surface, gliding occur in the same direction as the rolling motion. If the convex surface is moving on a stationary concave surface, gliding will occur in an opposite direction to rolling. Hypomobile shoulder joint are treated be using a gliding technique.
