  • To develop GIS (Gas Insulated Switchgear), prediction of the flow field including pressure in GIS is very important. The transport phenomena in GIS including arc is also being studied in these days. In this study, to predict the arc behaviour for GIS with voltage rating up to 800kV developed by HHI (Hyundai Heavy Industries Co. Ltd.), the analysis of flow and electric field in GIS were investigated. To simulate the compressible flow in GIS, the CFX, commercial CFD code, was used. The movement of the piston and the electrode of the GIS was simulated with moving grid method, which was superior to the method of varying the property of cells in the aspect of accuracy and convergence of solution. The calculated maximum pressure within the puffer cylinder was matched with experimental data within 5% error. Also, the oscillation of pressure in GIS after the movement of electrode was well predicted.

  • Transition of momentum-controlling hydrogen jet to buoyant jet is experimentally investigated in order to develop a prediction model for the moving trajectory of hydrogen leaked from hydrogen devices. In the experiments, room-temperature helium, that has a similar density to the hydrogen leaked from high pressure tank, is horizontally injected through a 4mm tube and its moving trajectory is visualized by the shadowgraph method. The moving trajectories are found to be parabolic, thereby exhibiting increasing influence of the buoyancy. In analyzing the experimental results, the vertical movement is assumed to be controlled by the buoyancy while the horizontal movement is controlled by the air entrainment caused by the initial momentum. The resealing based on this assumption yields a single curve fitting to the all experimental results.

  • The existing GOMS model overestimates the performance time of mouse activities because it describes them in a serial sequence. However, parallel movements of eye and hand(eye-hand coordination) have been dominant in mouse activities and this eye-hand coordination is the main factor for the overestimation of performance time. In this study, therefore, the revised CGOMSL model was developed to implement eye-hand coordination to the mouse activity to overcome one of the limitations of GOMS model, the lack of capability for parallel processing. The suggested revised CGOMSL model for drag activity, as an example for one of mouse activities in this study, begins visual search processing before a hand movement but ends the visual search processing with the hand movement in the same time. The results show that the revised CGOMSL model made the prediction of human performance more accurately than the existing GOMS model. In other words, one of the limitations of GOMS model, the incapability of parallel processing, could be overcome with the revised CGOMSL model so that the performance time should be more accurately predicted.

  • This paper presents the issue that is predicting the movement of an agent in an enclosed space by using the MDP (Markov Decision Process). Recent researches on the optimal path finding are confined to derive the shortest path with the use of deterministic algorithm such as $A^*$ or Dijkstra. On the other hand, this study focuses in predicting the path that the agent chooses to escape the limited space as time passes, with the stochastic method. The MDP reward structure from GIS (Geographic Information System) data contributed this model to a feasible model. This model has been approved to have the high predictability after applied to the route of previous armed red guerilla.

  • This paper presents an adaptive active tracking system with sector based scanning for a single PTZ camera. Dividing sectors on an image reduces the search space to shorten selection time so that the system can cover many targets. Upon the selection of a target, the system estimates the target trajectory to predict the zooming location with a finite amount of time for camera movement. Advanced estimation techniques using probabilistic reason suffer from the unknown object dynamics and the inaccurate estimation compromises the zooming level to prevent tracking failure. The proposed system uses the simple piecewise estimation with a few frames to cope with fast moving objects and/or slow camera movements. The target is tracked in multiple steps and the zooming time for each step is determined by maximizing the zooming level within the expected variation of object velocity and detection. The number of zooming steps is adaptively determined according to target speed. In addition, the iterative estimation of a zooming location with camera movement time compensates for the target prediction error due to the difference between speeds of a target and a camera. The effectiveness of the proposed method is validated by simulations and real time experiments.

  • At the crossings of turnout systems, noise is generated by the impact of train on the connection points. However, rapid movement changes between rail and wheels on connection point are inevitable on existing turnout section which may cause safety concern as well as noise problem caused by repeated impact load by passing train. And given the turnout is a complicated system which combines various functions such as rolling stock, trackbed, signaling, communication and electrical system, it's very difficult to expect to improve the overall performance of the turnout in such a way of optimizing only particular part of such integrated system. Since the turnout is the only movable section among the integrated parts and has complicated structure that inevitably brings about quick and sudden movement, safety has been still put on the top of the list. This study was aimed at comparing and analyzing the noise data obtained around the turnout of existing railway, by categorizing them into tilting train, high speed train and traditional train, and by distance, speed and type of turnout. And based on the data measured, the forecast of noise level when tilting train accelerates around a turnout was conducted in the study.

  • Curvature extrusion process has several advantages in comparison to the conventional extrusion and bending process. In the curvature extrusion, the extruded part is directly bent during extrusion. Therefore, it does not need additional bending process after extrusion. In the curvature extrusion process, it is possible to produce curved extruded products that have a constant or various curvatures. It is essential that we predict the curvatures of the extruded product to meet the required curvatures. This paper proposed a theoretical model that can predict the curvature of extruded product produced by the curvature extrusion process. Using the proposed model the movement of guide tool that causes the bending of extruded product was controlled to produce the required curved automotive Al bumper back beam. The effectiveness of the proposed prediction model and the movement of guide tool were verified by the FE analysis and curved extrusion experiment.

  • IoT(Internet of Things) based underground risk assessment system surrounding water pipeline enables an advanced monitoring and prediction for unexpected underground hazards such as abrupt road-side subsidence and urban sinkholes due to a leak in water pipeline. For the development of successful assessment technology, the PSU(Water Pipeline Safety Unit) which detects the leakage and movement of water pipes. Then, the IoT-based underground risk assessment system surrounding water pipeline will be proposed. The system consists of early detection tools for underground events and correspondence services, by analyzing leakage and movement data collected from PSU. These methods must be continuous and reliable, and cover certain block area ranging a few kilometers, for properly applying to regional water supply changes.

  • The size of hydrogen molecule is not so small as to invade into the lattice of material, and therefore, hydrogen invades into the material as atom. Hydrogen movement is done by diffusion or dislocation movement in the near crack tip or plastic deformation. Hydrogen appeared to have many effects on the mechanical properties of the Cr-Mo steel alloys. The materials for this study are 1.25Cr-0.5Mo and 2.25Cr-1Mo steels used at high temperature and pressure. The hydrogen amount obtained by theoretical calculation was almost same with the result solved by finite element analysis. The distribution of hydrogen concentration and average concentration was calculated for a flat specimen. Also, finite element analysis was employed to simulate the redistribution of hydrogen due to stress gradient. The calculation of hydrogen concentration diffused into the material by finite element method will provide the basis for the prediction of delayed fracture of notched specimen. The distribution of hydrogen concentration invaded into the smooth and notched specimen was obtained by finite element analysis. The hydrogen amount is much in smooth specimen and tends to concentrate in the vicinity of surface. Hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility of notched specimen after hydrogen charging is more remarkable than that of smooth specimen.

  • Gangue filling in the goaf is an effective measure to control the surface subsidence. However, due to the obvious deformation of gangue compression, the filling effect deserves to be further studied. To this end, the deformation of coal gangue filling in the goaf is analyzed by theoretical analysis, large-scale crushed rock compression test, and field investigation. Through the compression test of crushed rock, the deformation behaviour characteristics and energy dissipation characteristics is obtained and analysed. The influencing factors of gangue filling and predicted amount of main deformation are summarized. Besides, the predicted equation and filling subsidence coefficients of gangue are obtained. The gangue filling effect was monitored by the movement observation of surface rock. Gangue filling can support the roof of the goaf, effectively control the surface subsidence with little influence on the ground villages. The premeter and equations of the main deformation in the gangue filling are verified, and the subsidence coefficient is further reduced by adding cemented material or fine sand. This paper provides a practical and theoretical reference for further development of gangue filling.
