  • Forest management is done to keep ecological health of forest and to enhancement of its function. Nowadays, the abnormal climate and heavy rain happen frequently. Therefore, there are opinions that the thinning slash allowed in the mountain is flowed in rivers, which can influence in flood damage. This study, we grasp moving characteristics of thinning slash through field survey and achieved basic study about the effect of thinning slash on the discharge capacity of rivers and stream structure.

산이동 설화에 대한 지형학적 검토 (A Study on Characteristics of Mountainous Landforms Associated with Folklore and Geo-storytelling)

  • Place names or toponyms including Gosan, Busan and Buraesan can be very important and interesting storytelling subjects in terms of geomorphology and folklore studies also. Several studies done by folklorists, those sixty five mountain-moving stories with similar names can be grouped into several categories through formation processes and origin, transport media and imposition of tax. Geomorphological studies can focus on transport media. They can be classified into six different categories; 1) flood from upstream through river, 2) voluntary walk of mountains, 3) by wind, 4) upwelling from underground, 5) involvement of mythical beings such as Mago Granny or Dokkaebi (kind of goblin), or 6) migration by ocean current.

속초연안에서 대기순환의 특성 (Characteristics of Atmospheric Circulation in Sokcho Coast)

  • Using three-dimensional non-hydrostatical numerical model with one way double nesting technique, atmo­spheric circulation in the mountainous coastal region in summer was investigated from August 13 through 15, 1995. During the day, synoptic westerly wind blows over Mt. Mishrung in the west of a coastal city, Sokcho toward the East Sea, while simultaneously, easterly upslope wind combined with both valley wind from plain (coast) toward mountain and sea-breeze from sea toward inland coast blows toward the top of the mountain. Two different directional wind systems confront each other in the mid of eastern slope of the mountain and the upslope wind goes up to the height over 2 km, becoming an easterly return flow in the upper level over the sea and making sea-breeze front with two kinds of sea-breeze circulations of a small one in the coast and a large one in the open sea. Convective boundary layer is developed with a thickness of about 1km over the ground in the upwind side of the mountain in the west and a thickness of thermal internal boundary layer from the coast along the eastern slope of the mountain is only confined to less than 200 m. On the other hand, after sunset, no prohibition of upslope wind generated during the day and downward wind combined with mountain wind from mountain towardplain and land-breeze from land toward under nocturnal radiative cooling of the ground surfaces should intensify westerly downslope wind, resulting in the formation of wind storm. As the wind storm moving down along the eastern slop causes the development of internal gravity waves with hydraulic jump motion in the coast, bounding up toward the upper level of the coastal sea, atmospheric circulation with both onshore and offshore winds like sea-breeze circulation forms in the coastal sea within 70 km until midnight and after that, westerly wind prevails in the coast and open seas.

집중관측사업의 현황과 발전 방향 (Current Status of Intensive Observing Period and Development Direction)

  • Domestic IOP (intensive observing period) has mostly been represented by the KEOP (Korea Enhanced Observing Period), which started the 5-yr second phase in 2006 after the first phase (2001-2005). During the first phase, the KEOP had focused on special observations (e.g., frontal systems, typhoons, etc.) around the Haenam supersite, while extended observations have been attempted from the second phase, e.g., mountain and downstream meteorology in 2006 and heavy rainfall in the mid-central region and marine meteorology in 2007. So far the KEOP has collected some useful data for severe weather systems in Korea, which are very important in understanding the development mechanisms of disastrous weather systems moving into or developing in Korea. In the future, intensive observations should be made for all characteristic weather systems in Korea including the easterly in the central-eastern coastal areas, the orographically-developed systems around mountains, the heavy snowfall in the western coastal areas, the upstream/downstream effect around major mountain ranges, and the heavy rainfall in the mid-central region. Enhancing observations over the seas around the Korean Peninsula is utmost important to improve forecast accuracy on the weather systems moving into Korea through the seas. Observations of sand dust storm in the domestic and the source regions are also essential. Such various IOPs should serve as important components of international field campaign such as THORPEX (THe Observing system Research and Predictability EXperiment) through active international collaborations.

GIS를 이용한 땅밀림지 특성 분석: 산지경사 및 산사태위험등급을 중심으로 (Analysis of GIS for Characteristics on the Slow-Moving Landslide: With a Special Reference on Slope and Grade of Landslide)

  • 이 연구는 땅밀림위험등급을 구축하기 위하여 수행되었다. 땅밀림지의 평균산지경사는 $23.8^{\circ}$($11.8^{\circ}{\sim}37.0^{\circ}$), 땅밀림지 내에서 미세지형지의 평균사면경사는 $23.5^{\circ}$ ($10.7^{\circ}{\sim}41.5^{\circ}$)로 미소한 차이가 있는 것으로 분석되었다. 땅밀림지 및 땅밀림 재발생지에서 땅밀림지 내 등고선 간격과 땅밀림지 내 미세지형지의 등고선 간격은 5% 수준에서 유의한 결과를 나타내었다. 산사태위험등급에 포함되지 않는 땅밀림지는 전체 땅밀림지 중 1등급이 14개소(약 38.0%), 2등급이 6개소(약 16.0%), 3등급과 4등급이 각각 5개소(약 14.0%), 5등급이 16개소(약 43.0%), 산사태위험지등급 외 지역이 9개소(약 24.0%)이었다. 땅밀림지 중 산사태위험 1~5등급으로 지정되지 않은 면적 비율이 50.0% 이상인 지역은 8개소(약 22.0%), 20.0%~50.0% 이상인 지역은 18개소(약 49.0%), 20.0% 이상인 지역은 26개소(약 70.0%)이었다.

무가선 산악트램 급전을 위한 지상 집중식 급전장치 개발 (Development of Local Ground Pantograph for Power Supply to Wireless Mountain Trams)

  • 국내 산악 지역 자연공원에서는 자연 환경과 주변 조망을 보존하기 위해 전차선의 설치가 불가하다. 따라서 산악 트램은 무가선으로 운행되어야 한다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 차량의 추진 배터리에 전기를 공급할 수 있는 지상 집중식 급전장치를 개발하고 동작 및 기능 시험을 실시하여 성능을 검증하였다. 개발한 지상 집중식 급전장치는 검수고 또는 정거장의 한 지점에 고정 설치되어 있으며, 차량의 대차가 진입하여 정차하면 스프링 장력으로 암과 집전 슈를 올려 대차 하부에 있는 차량측 집전 바와 접촉하고, 전기를 흘려 배터리에 전력을 공급한다. 지상 집중식이므로 차량 지붕 위의 집전장치와 전차선이 필요 없게 되고, 산악트램은 무가선 상태로 운행을 할 수 있다. 정거장이나 검수고에서 움직이지 않고 정지한 상태에서 집전하므로, 이선이나 아크 발생이 없다. 집전 슈의 마모나 손상을 초래할 수 있는 가동 접촉면이 사라지게 되므로 집전장치 수명이 연장되는 장점이 있다. 시험 결과에 따르면, 절연저항은 기준치인 10㏁ 이상이었고, 전류 335A를 1시간 동안 일정하게 공급하여도 이상 발열이 없음을 확인하였다.

산불 발화에 따른 하층 대기 순환장 변화에 관한 수치 실험 (Numerical Experiment on the Variation of Atmospheric Circulation due to Wild Fire)

  • In order to clarify the impact of wildfire and its thermal forcing on atmospheric wind and temperature patterns, several numerical experiments were carried out using three dimensional atmospheric dynamic model WRF with wildfire parametrization module SFIRE. Since wind can accelerate fire spread speed, the moving speed of fireline is faster than its initial values, and the fireline tends to move the northeast, because of the wind direction and absolute vorticity conservation law associated with driving force induced by terrain. In comparison with non-fire case, the hydraulic jump that often occurs over downwind side of mountain became weak due to huge heat flux originated by surface wildfire and wind pattern over downwind side of mountain tends to vary asymmetrically with time passing. Therefore temporal variation of wind pattern should be catched to prevent the risk of widfire.

친환경 산악철도 매립형 궤도의 선로전환기 및 히팅장치 개발 (Development of Switching and Heating Devices in Embedded Rack Track for Environmental-friendly Mountain Railway)

  • 친환경 산악철도는 산악지역 환경보전을 위해 기존 급곡선·급경사 도로 위에 매립된 콘크리트 톱니 궤도에서 운행하게 된다. 폭이 좁은 도로 특성상 단선 구간이 많아지고, 교행에 따른 분기부가 많이 존재한다. 분기부에서 기존 선로전환기와 히팅장치는 중앙 톱니 궤도의 이동 공간 확보, 두터운 결빙의 신속히 제거 등이 불가하여 산악철도에 적용하기 곤란하다. 이런 문제 해결을 위해 궤도 블록 이동 선로전환기와 고주파유도 히팅장치를 개발하였다. 개발 선로전환기는 콘크리트 톱니궤도 블록을 유압 액튜에이터를 이용하여 이동시킴으로 선로를 전환할 수 있고, 크로싱의 결선부가 없어져서 탈선의 위험이 감소되며, 쇄정도 간편해진다. 히팅장치는 고주파 유도가열을 이용하여 발열 효율을 높임으로 톱니궤도의 두터운 결빙을 신속히 제거할 수 있다. 선로전환기와 히팅장치의 시작품을 제작하여 동작시험을 실시함으로 성능을 입증하였다. 히팅장치는 기존 방식에 비해 10배 이상 발열 효율이 있음을 확인하였다. 개발된 선로전환기와 히팅장치는 동절기 산악트램의 운행을 위한 필수 핵심기술로서, 산악철도의 안전성 및 효율을 높임으로 국내외 산악관광지의 산악철도 도입 확산에 기여할 수 있다. 또한 산악철도는 동절기 교통이 두절되는 지역주민들에게 교통기본권을 제공하고, 관광 활성화와 지역경제 발전 효과를 가져올 수 있다.

우리나라에서 기온 상승이 식생분포에 미치는 영향 - 대나무와 마늘을 중심으로 - (The Impact of Temperature Rising on the Distribution of Plant - in Case of Bamboos and Garlics -)

  • Global warming brings about changes of diverse environmental, especially changes of plant distribution. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between temperature rise and changes of northern limit of vegetation growth in Korea. Bamboos (Phyllostachys) and boundary between the northern type and southern type of garlic (Allium sativum L.) were selected. The data of the distributions of bamboos and garlic are collected by field survey and interviews. Temperature is analyzed from 1904 to 2000. The northern limit of Phyllostachys moves 60-100 km northward, for about 100 years, the period of 1907-2003 and mean temperature of Korea increases about $2^{\circ}C$ during the same period. It means that the northern limit moves 30-50 km northward, for each $1^{\circ}C$ rising of January mean temperature. The boundary between the northern type and southern types of garlic moves northward 40-140 km from 1980s to 2000. The moving width is broad in the west coastal region while the width is narrow in the inland and mountain regions. The mean moving width is about 100 km.

Helical CT 시스템에 있어 Slice Sensitivity Profile과 Reconstruction Resolution에 관한 연구 (Study on Slice Sensitivity Profile and Reconstruction Resolution on Helical CT System)

  • Unlike conventional CT scan, the helical CT scan uses continuous rotating CT equipment with a slip ring to move the patient's coach at a constant speed while continuously scanning. Slice sensitivity profiles in the Z-position(SSPz) using the conventional X-ray CT have a shape similiar to a rectangular wave, which slightly spreads out into plains below the mountain. However, in the helical CT, with an expansion of the base, the rectangular shape collapses and a mouatain-like shape can be seen. We need to investigate the fellowing factors in helical CT scanning;the ability to scan along the axis of the body, effective slice width, slice shape and the precision of coach velocity, Helical scanning with sprial X-ray track is different from the conventional scanning in terms of the principle of image reconstruction performed. We believe that the problems in helical scanning can be solved by understanding new the special parameters such as the bed moving speed and the interval of image reconstruction.
